IMO it has a lot to do with having completed a well-told story. the journey built and sustained tension, but the climax of Endwalker released that tension. without that tension we often feel less inclined to constantly invest our time in a thing. this is when a community around a thing shrinks significantly down to the kind of people who create and consume fanfic. and that's not meant to be derogatory at all. it's only meant to point to the shrinking of any community around a thing after the main even is done. there are still adventures to be had after the main event of FFXIV, but the tension isn't there anymore and most people will drift away from it.

he's right about any game being able to produce that much content in a healthy way. I am new to ffxiv been playing about a year and a half now and at first i was a really casual player but now I am much much better and more into it, and there is still so much that is new to me. I hope there will still be players willing to do group content or fights in the game. Ive kinda had a hard time finding groups to do eureka and bozja…
My PC has 16TB of storage, almost all of it suitable for gaming, so I have 322 games installed at once at any given time (more actually, but that number is from Steam) …and I avoid burnout because of that – I skip around way more than anyone ever should. It's a mental disorder… and I never complete any games!
