I love that song. I was in crucial part of story. And spoiler now: there was probably no good answer to what happen, antagonist done what they done because of sadness and sorrow. This song shows that, they wanted to not lose hope in spite of that.
But more emotional moment of story for me was before that. Where you had to run around barren land, all your friends are gone. You are alone. And there's no music even. There's only you and her: silence.
Amanda on vocals and Keiko on piano = masterpiece flow made by Soken
It is one of the best and most beautiful songs of FFXIV. Amanda is amazing she is so talented and has a incredible voice. And yeah ''Flow'' is very emotional. Mostly if you played the story of Endwalker and know the context. ff14 music is amazing and glad that you always react to them and describe everything so well. I mean without playing the game.
Amanda Achen as given us two of my favorite songs in FFXIV: Flow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Her voice is so divine, its almost criminal.
Would be interesting to now also hear about Flow Together, since they go hand in hand.
I love this song. As in… LOVE this song. It never fail to make me tearing up. The way Amanda sings it, the way the emotion in story mixing with it, weight heavily on my heart.
This song is Hydaelyn offering her lap for us to lay after saving the world
The song is a goodbye that was building up for 10 years. So this song carries a lot of emotional weight.
As always you nailed its significance on the head. The character saying goodbye has had maternal vibes attached to her since the base game, so when you said it was like a hug before saying goodbye… That's exactly what was happening. I don't think I"ll ever not well up at this song. ;w;
Hydaelyn is a goddess of light who presides over the forces of peace and tranquility. She resides in the heart of what the game calls the ethereal sea, where the souls of the departed go to rest, be cleansed and ultimately be reborn. The song is meant to represent her lovingly receiving souls into her embrace, assuring them it is okay to let go and close their eyes to find peace, with the promise that once cleansed, they will be carried by the eternal winds back up to the world of the living and that she will forever lovingly wait for them as the cycle of death and rebirth continues again and again forever.
The vocals are absolutely astonishing. As a lifelong musician – She is just incredible.
I can't listen to this song without tearing up. I'm a grown man and when I encountered this in the game, it totally wrecked me.
Time to tear up again
Every. Single. Time. I cry when this song starts.
Flow is the "Thank you" to Asnwer "I'm sorry."
I can't listen to this song at all without tearing up a bit, there's so much emotion that "flows" from this song both in context and not. But if you've played the game and got involved in the story, it really is just meant to break you, it's a goodbye to a constant companion you didn't even know you had really, but now that you know they were with you every step of the way suddenly you don't want to see them go.
The music is only half of it. The rest of the love is in a story that was well told, and exceeded all expectations.
Dang, I'm tearing up again.
Spoilers here: The song is first played when you defeat and overcome Hydelaen, who makes us defeat her before we can go out into the bigger universe and fight the final boss of the expansion. The lyrics are meant to reflect her love and the dreams and ambitions of the things that will come after she is gone now that we have moved past her, and to remind of us that the journey we've made along the way with her at our side over the last 10 years is only one of many steps in our journey. It is later played again when we are at the lowest point to remind the player that they aren't alone. It's a song from a mother to her child pushing them out into the world, knowing she is no longer part of it.
Stupid question. But why are all the musical words italian/french?
This song is our thank you. Answers is the I'm sorry. They are both the same character, and a rocky version of this song plays when she appears first.
It isn't strictly her death but Her pride in the PC and their allies, along with the echoes of Her love on display here.
Amanda Achen's voice is so beautiful and both Soken Masayoshi and Nobuo Uematsu are masters of their art, I loved Susan Calloway for Answers just as much as Amanda's voice here. All this brilliant music really makes the game so impactful, especially at the large story impact points like this one. It's so wonderful to see people enjoying this music even without the deeper connections with the game. The purpose of this song is to remark at the impossible journey of the player's character from a time far ahead to have gone back and met someone who would be the reason that you inevitably have the strength and knowledge at the end of this major story arc to do what needs to be done to save not just your own world but so many others too and so it is both a "hello again after so long" and a "good bye" because your road doesn't stop there but this person came all that way, the long way round through time, to meet you and make sure you could do it.
Edit: No longer a fan of Susan Calloway, just for clarification, but I do love Answers. Wish she had turned out to be a better person.
arpeggiated
Every time I hear DEEP DAAAAAAAAARK FAR AWAAAAAAY I can't keep it in.
its Hydaelyn (aka god) answering her peoples prayers think of the song Answers as the call and Flow as the response
