Why is everyone Suddenly Quitting FFXIV

#ff14 #ffxiv
FFXIV Endwalker has been a good expansion so far. But we’ve seen an increase in the number of players quitting. From jaded content creators, to burnt out Savage raiders. FF14 is a very good game, but it also has some serious problems…

  1. Definitely getting burnt out too, last major patch was 4 months ago, the branching dungeon is pretty much not replayable once you've cleared all routes (so.. 2-3 days), and you can only grind level so many jobs before you get tired of doing stone vigil gubal and doma castle for 50 levels straight.

For sure there are people getting gaslit into thinking their ex gf from 2004 "really changed this time" for the 5th bi-yearly occurence in a row, but as per usual they'll be back in a few months when they (re)realize she still doesn't care about them beyond their wallet and that putting new make-up on didn't magically turn her into a decent and respectable person. At least they'll have a patch or two to catch up on.

  2. There is a simple reason why people stop playing… a patch cycle of 3 months was fine, it kept people entertained. Now with the 4,5-5 months between patches it just takes way too long. Most will return when a new patch hit but not everyone wants to stick around for 5 months until the next patch hits.

When people say everyone is quitting it's mostly on the outside tho meanwhile FFXIV is actually plenty alive in it's dead state. Mostly for social aspects tho the cities are buzzing.

  3. The best thing to do when you're getting burned out is to step away. Hell, the game is designed to let you go without punishing you (unless you own a house, but they're so rare you shouldn't need one unless you're playing this game religiously).

The truth is, there is enough content in this game that you'll never run out of things to do if you want to stay. But if decorating isn't your thing, you don't like putting on concerts, chilling with friends, welcoming sprouts through the MSQ, deep dungeons, relics, crafting, Gold Saucer, or any of the crapton of other things isn't doing it, then yes, please take a break if you're feeling burned out. Hell, Yoshi-P, himself, even encourages it.

The game will be there, and that's why new expansions and patches always feel like family reunions. People come back happier when they don't feel anchored.
