Merycidia. That’s where I wanna go
Just know that if we’re not getting a new job next expansion, I’m just gonna be screaming like South Park “They took er jerbs!!!”
Oh, you spoiled stuff and I wasn’t ready… jk😂
I was about to do a drinking game and take a shot every time you say The Void.
I’m betting on Meracydia, though the “new world” could be interesting too
I think you're right on the Meracydia thing. I don't know, though, if Golbez is going to survive to 7.0. In fact, I'm almost certain he won't.
Nearly all of the Ascians are the same people as the "Scions of Light" from FF12 and each was tied to an esper. Each scion had a complex rune seal that looked like a crazy tribal tattoo. In FF14, the Ascians' red holographic masks are all a portion of the rune from 12. Well, the symbol associated with Golbez, the bat shaped thing that is the shape of his platform in the Zodiark hole as well as the shape of his communicators he used to talk to the fiends is a part of the seal of Pashtarot. Pashtarot is an Ascian we haven't seen since a "meanwhile elsewhere" in ARR. Also of note, Pashtarot was the scion tied to… Zeromus.
I'm guessing Golbez was a hero of the 13th that kept fighting even after the world was corrupted. He killed and devoured Pashtarot and the melding of them made him what he is today (There's a reason they went into the blending effect of devouring in 6.1) and that's how he knew about the Zodiark hole on the moon, the source and reflections, and where he got his plan. We're probably going to kill him, Pashtarot's soul will split off of his after death, then combine with left over Zodiark Aether and form Zeromus. Whether that will be the trial in 6.5 or a goal of 7.0 remains to be seen.
My best bet is down to two options based on this point in the MSQ. Either Meracydia or another reflection.
My vote is that it'll be tied to the prophecy of that golden fish robot from the studium deliveries.
Best current guess: Midgardsormr becomes a problem, and his brood have to come together to stop him. This will also lead us to Meracydia.
Am I wrong? Almost certainly, but that's the fun.
Meracydia would also make sense seeing as how they are choosing to bring back the Warring Triad as Unreal trials. Plus there has to be /some/ kind of a link between the 13th shard and Meracydia because of Unulkhalhi (sp?).
I really hope the next expansion focuses on the speed and feel of the combat as well as simplifying the process of accessing endgame content because it's a total nightmare and time waster figuring the endgame content out and it's kind of stale.
