Palace of the Dead is an AWESOME Rogue-like minigame of Final Fantasy 14 that immediately reminds any WoW player of Torghast Tower of the Damned in Shadowlands. Except it is better in many ways!
Palace of the Dead can be played solo or in a group of up to four adventurers and Square Enix developers have done an amazing job creating this little minigame for FFXIV to offer casual players a little break from their questing adventures and other pursuits.
In this video I’ll share my experience with Torghast in WoW Shadowlands expansion, and compare it to the Palace of the Dead solo experience in FFXIV for anyone who wishes to give it a try.

Palace if the dead gives so on completion Of 10 floors. Also, you can gain some items to create your Shadowbringers relic from palace of the dead as well. Stormblood has another dungeon like potd, called heaven on high.
I feel like Blizzard is on a crusade to eradicate the fun from gaming. It is quite hilarious.
WoW Player : Wow~! This looks like so much fun~!

You need to beat a floor set of 10 to get your rewards in palace of the dead as well as accursed hoards, which can be found by accident or via a pomander of intuition. It also get an achivement for most floorsets named in too deep.
Palace just in the first few floor sets, has 5 times the rewards of Choregast.
In Palace for the dead ( and heaven on high the 60-70 version in storm blood)you get experience ( massive amounts of it every 10 floors), potsherds that can be exchanged for a few things, and bags that are opened up for loot which can be glamour armor pieces or other things but also a lot of fireworks. Palace of the dead and heaven on high Are one of the best ways for you to level alternate classes especially DPS due to the low Q time for it.
Palace of the Dead is what a lot of people use to level their non-main dps classes. You can also get mounts from some of the monsters inside.
You get bronze trimmed bags, yes, exchange them with the bishop outside of Palace and they get transformed into items.
If you are able to get to lvl 200 solo, you get one of the rarest titles in the game. I think since podt came out I only have seen one Player with it. A friend of mine died at lvl 172 and almost quit the game he was so angry 😅😂
Aaand i read further down in the comments and this is like the 20th comment that teils you about the solo achievement🤣 sry for the repetition and welcome to eorzea!
Torghast was the selling feature of Shadowlands for me. It sucks so hard in many different ways, I just lost all hope for WoW .
There are actually tons of rewards for PoTD and there is a second dungeon crawler at a higher level called Heaven on High which is the following expansions version of PoTD. It would be a lot less fun if it was like Torghast and didn't give you anything worth grinding for. 😛
You can actually use PoTD/HoH to level your alts (ofc your first main class/job should be levelled via the MSQ!) You get a chance from bags you earn to have rare mounts, pets, furniture, glamor items, etc. all from grinding out PoTD/HoH which is why they are still actively used despite being older content. A lot of people will use this to level their DPS Jobs because the queue is usually much faster than Duty Finder and you can often do 2 whole PoTD runs in the time it takes to queue and complete a single dungeon/duty.
I suggest you look up the Wiki for PoTD to get a better understanding of how it works, how to use it to level, and the rewards you can hope to attain.
I'm definitely not a fan of palace of the dead. Cant explain why, I just never enjoyed doing it. Fortunately, its in FFXIV, meaning if i dont want to do it, I can go off and do something I enjoy instead, i'm not forced to go in there unless I feel like it. 😀
While there are 200 levels in POD, the first 100 you can join random groups for, 100-200 you have to do as a premade group (or solo) and you have to keep that group the whole way through. If you all die anywhere 100-200, you are reset to level 50.
If you join a group and run 1-10, you'll learn a lot more and get a lot further 🙂
LMAO this video is complaining about torghast WHEN ITS OPTIONAL
There are rewards, past level 10 there is a huge exp chunk, you're able to level up alt classes (jobs) that are level 60 below. There are sacks that will drop from Accursed Horde drops. Those are loot sacks that you take outside of the palace to get IDed. Random loot are rewarded.
if you're on the primal data center be super happy to help you up and to help you clear POTD! Zeeningg Yaboi is the name, can mostly solo all of it up to 200 so happy to help you clear it!
One thing I haven't seen anyone address in the top comments is something you mentioned as a Torghast concern.
Do you NEED to farm PotD to finish any relics? The answer is… if you want to. Outside of ARR relics (PoTD didn't exist then) there are multiple routes to take. I am doing my Shadowbringers relic last step, and I can either do one of the more recent concent pieces called the Dalriada for 3 of the items per run (need 15 total) OR a random chance to get 1 every 10 floors of PotD.
The thing is you don't need to be that job while you do that so you could just want to level alt jobs and boom, relic items pop in XD
What you did wrong
Soloing POTD with a WHM when you can match make "best option getting through floors 1-100.
To unlock 101-200 requires a static from 1-100 with no wipes
Edit palidans are the true chads that can solo this content
Lol I would stealth to floor bosses on my resto druid in Torghast easy peasy.
tower of the dead was before thorgast just saying…
The fact that you walked away from PotD thinking there were no rewards and STILL enjoying it baffles me, lol
I love this video! Very informative. I haven't played FF14 since it was released and back then I had a life so topped playing. I have no intentions of playing again but if I was you have given me a heads up and for that I appreciate you! Did I see at one point your Lvl 2 Mage was fighting a level 20 boss?? How tf does that work? How long did it take you to defeat him if you did? That right there would put me off LOL . Anyways good vid, good work much respect.
hit floor 200 solo and get the nercomancer title only 300 ish people world wide have it
Leveling alt classes is really easy with potd and heaven on high. Then do bozja at endgame and you can hit 80. Takes roughly a week per class.
If you sell the loot from potd, you can make a good bit of money too. I still have dozens of sacks unopened that I'm going to sell stuff from. The night pegasus mount drops in potd after floor 100. It sells for about 9 million. I really want to buy it
Been trying to get it for the last year
Potd just one of the things WoW ripped off FFXIV. I hope the community doesn't take too bad of a hit with streamers like asmongold playing the game now. His fans are some of the most toxic people you'd ever want to play with.
So you're saying WoW ripped off FF14 and made it less fun and less rewarding…
You do know that Palace of the Dead for FF XIV came out before WoW released Torghast right? PotD came out in 2016 where Wow came out with Torghast literally only a year ago. So comparing them like FF XIV is doing it as new or a "Torghast miniature" is wrong… Also you get XP and loot from PotD. So yeh Torghast is a concept WoW actually copied.
