Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward Reactions! [Part 8]

Hey all! Let me just start off by saying that I literally cannot handle how phenomenal this game is and the way it makes me feel. This episode goes to the end of patch 3.3 (I think) which includes the final Nidhogg fight The Final Steps of Faith and the Estinien face reveal (omg). I was so emotional during this whole experience and I cannot put into words how much I love it. I really hope you all enjoy the video! Thank you so much for sharing this experience with me ^-^

  1. Okay so, now that you’ve done 3.3, there’s actually a special quest chain that starts in fortemps manor I highly, highly recommend you do before heading into Stormblood after 3.4 and 3.5
It’s not too long of a chain, but it’s a journey of remembrance through base Heavensward, each step of the way with a bit of introspection, starting with The Paths we Walk and ending on The Burdens We Bear

  2. The Dark Knight job quests have some msq tie-in kinda stuff in them that's really heavy hitting imo. Definitely not mandatory but I loved them so much I went from healing to tanking specifically because of them.

  3. Ahhh, I was waiting for this one! 😀 I'm happy to see you appreciated just how epic all this was, too. I feel like some reactions I've seen to it are kinda underwhelming, but to me, this was THE most epic part of the game. I think, because we have been dealing with Nidhogg and Hraesvelgr so much through the story, talking with them, and even beating Nidhogg fairly easily in The Aery, that people underestimate them. These two are Bahamut's siblings. Anyone who has watched The End of an Era video should respect that level of power. These two could easily have caused another Calamity with their battle if the conditions were a bit different. And the dialogue and voice acting were also very on-point. Like you pointed out, you could tell that Nidhogg was PISSED and yelling at Hraesvelgr. And then the build-up of our fight against him afterwards, where at first Nidhogg is super confident, then you survive his ultimate attack and he realizes this might not be so easy, then dropping that heavy line at the second phase transition ("Brood-brother, thou has doomed me… but if I must meet my end, then ALL SHALL BURN UPON MY PYRE!"), and he just gives into rage and doesn't care if he dies, so long as he takes us with him. And of course, the music is super amazing, as always. Sohr Khai was hauntingly beautiful, then Faith in Her Fury playing during the cutscene with everyone fighting the dragons on the Steps of Faith was super hype, and then the build-up in our fight. Slow and sad at first with Dragonsong, then quickly turning epic as hell with Freefall, then more looming and desperate with Revenge of the Horde. And you can imagine how much more awesome all of it is if you're actually a Dragoon!

But I'm rambling. I could go on about this part forever, haha.

  4. 24:05 Did you catch it? When we see Haurchefant, at first it's a reaction of shock, and I think most people who actually get into the story are saddened and assume our character would be sad as well. But no, we remember his words to us.

A smile better suits a hero. (insert smiling through the pain emoji here)
