Opera Singer Compares End of Yorha to Weight of the World (Prelude Version): Nier Automata/FFXIV

Listening to NieR Automata’s The End of Yorha and Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringer’s Copied Factory versions of Weight of the World is fascinating and delightful due to their differences and similarities. Love.

  1. since Emi Evans is singer of Nier themes I may suggest checking her song from different game where she done amazing job. Armageddon (alternative name Grand Order HL theme) from Granblue Fantasy. Overall Granblue Fantasy have lots of amazing song (despite being mobile game) but I won't flood you with title requests. One a time and if you may enjoy it and want some suggestion I'm pretty sure Granblue players will be happy to share some great titles

  2. Ending E is my number 1 video game moment I wish I could delete from my memory and experience for the first time over and over again. The moment you "get help" and the full chorus comes in is unmatched for me in musical/thematic resonance in video games, other than maybe like the final trial of Endwalker.

  3. I will never tire of different renditions of this track. The sound team (don't want to leave anyone out, composers, vocalists, everyone) for NieR games are just incredibly talented.

  4. I gotta say I deleted 3 of my saves for the players out there knowing that someday that save will be deleted as it dies.
Hope the player who receives my help enjoyed their time playing this wonderful game ❤️❤️❤️
Much love to u Marco for sharing this ❤️

  5. That version of Weight of the world plays during the E ending AKA End of YoRha also you fight the credits but its too difficult everytime you lose the game asks you questions like you think games are a waste of time and many more but then something happens and other people joins the fight to help you and that's why there is a chorus in this version..
And yes this version gives you sadness and pain but a feeling of hope…. A feeling to never give up because there always will be people out there to help you and fight for you

  6. The written-for-English lyrics are like a whole different damn song than the Japanese lyrics translated, with the latter being the most emotionally crushing thing I may have ever heard.

When I first did Copied Factory, I had never heard this music before, I had never played NieR, but just on the strength of the music alone I was having trouble doing the boss because I was tearing up, it was that damn good. Possibly my favorite boss music in the game. It goes so far as being like… whatever is the last fight you'll have to fight your whole life, it's what you'd want the music to be.

  7. I don't know how but even now, 5 years after playing Automata the first time, fully completing it 4 (soon to be 6 more times as I am going to restart it tonight and then get on Switch) I don't know how this song brings me to tears EVERYTIME hearing it.

And my NieR playlist on Spotify is one of my most played lists…

  8. Combining the talents of Keichi Okabe and Soken = god tier music.

Another more obscure work from keichi is Prelude of Showdown from the mobile game SINoALICE. Has the same feel as the nier ost

  9. Copied Factory is my favorite NieR raid in FFXIV. Mostly because of the music. The first time I reached the final boss was just once in a lifetime experience. Nines showing up and then Weight of the World – Prelude, oh man, it was magical. Needless to say I cried throughout the entire battle. What a gift. Truly a masterpiece.

  10. I'm gonna throw you for a loop here with this theory/framing. Spoilers for the Nier raid if you care too much about it.

Prelude is our theme. This song is for 9S, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders alone, trying to stop us from inviting doom upon ourselves. He's come to save us and we're raging against him and trying to destroy him, and he can't do anything but try his best to stop us. Which is why the FF theme is in there, because it's our boss theme.

  11. This game ultimately wrecked me.. its more than just a game. It’s living a life beyond our daily. It’s a game that I’ve been hesitant to start up again.. from that end-decision memory wipe at the end. All of the achievements, experiences.. gone. I know that at that time, it was the right thing to do and I paid the cost of sacrifice. I just don’t know if I can pick it up again. Maybe.. just maybe. If there’s such a thing as reincarnation, at that point there must be a reason that if we are forced to recycle our lives anew, our memories are wiped from our past lives. Maybe that’s the reason why it makes life living all over, that much easier. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to pick up this game again. After completing all of the end scenes and receiving a 100% completion.. only to have it wiped clean at the end. Sometimes I wish those memories were wiped from my own mind so that I can enjoy this game fresh again. The music alone is a journey, as is this game. Thanks for this video Marco.

  12. maybe its just me. or perhaps the mixing of the FFXIV song is a bit weird. but it still sounds to me like there is one dominant female voice singing in the front of the choir of eorzean voices.

  13. To me the Yorha version is a plea to pick up that weight and carry it forward, while the FFXIV version is a triumphant reply that when combined with the action of the raid itself shows that not only can we carry that weight, we can do it with verve.

  14. Dayum… Weight of the World always makes me tear up!
It's such a powerful song, I love it!
And the whole NieR Story is so great!

During this beautiful song I took a look if I would have enough fabric for a 2B Cosplay XD (sadly not)

  15. Hi Marco, i would love to listen to The skies above from the black mages, is an amazing and beautifull song, to this day, this song brings me to tears for the final fantasy X backgrounds history. Cheers from Argentina!

  16. I commented on a previous video featuring the English version of the song, about how the "End of YorHa" version comes off as humanity's swan song, and once you dig into it, you can see why. Not only do we have current languages in there, but a "future" one in the Chaos language, plus the development team singing that back-up chorus, all while the names of other players can be seen assisting you through their sacrifices as you battle through the credits. The entire experience feels like our entire species coming together for one last hurrah.

  17. One aspect I really love about End of Yorha is that the last lyrics you can hear are "but the truth is that I'm only" and then the rest gets drowned out by the choir. She is no longer only one girl.

  18. You love music the same way that I do. I could tell that you were having a ball when the choir was singing in the second version! It's nice to see someone enjoying what they love! It seems to me that there is very little joy these days…

Hmmm. The meaning behind the song. It really reminds me of Zidane from Final Fantasy 9. Do good in the world just because you can. My husband is currently playing Final Fantasy 9, and he is reading for Zidane. Our daughter is reading for Eiko. Our son is reading for Vivi. I am reading for Garnet/Dagger. We are having a lot of fun! …My husband is a Knight of Columbus, and his personality is a mixture between Zidane, and Warf from Star Trek Next Gen and Deep Space Nine. A man of compassion, and honor! There is a character from Final Fantasy 9 that reminds me of another character in fiction. Steiner reminds me of Silver Knight from .hack//SIGN. I know that most of your videos are about gaming music. But, without wanting to give away any spoilers, I have a feeling that .hack//SIGN might be right up your alley! The music is wonderful! And, the storyline deals with people who interact with each other in an online game, and how the real world impacts the game, and how the real world is affected by the game, and relationships formed theirin. I don't know how much free time you have, but I think you would enjoy the anime! And, I know I would certainly enjoy watching a reaction video to the opening song! It's the kind of song that will go into your head for days!

  19. The seamless transitions between the different languages in the song are so masterfully done that at times I don’t even realize it’s another language, I just hear it and feel like I know the words and enjoy the song.

  21. 'End of Yorha' is one of my three "well, this is going to ruin me for the next 10 minutes" videogame tracks. The other two are 'Undertale' from Undertale and 'Late Goodbye' from Max Payne 2 (weird choices, I know, don't ask my brain why it does the things it does).

  22. My first time doing this raid was one I wont forget. I definitely died a few times just taking in the music and atmosphere of the whole thing. Was a seriously amazing experience.

  23. I cannot like this video enough. FFXIV's Prelude version blew my mind the first time I heard a sample of it during one of the liveletters. Okabe is a genius.

  24. I played the copied factory after finishing automata. When I saw 9S I yelled “NOOO WTH?!” out loud. The song was so amazing I found myself stopping playing to hear the music without meaning to. I was glad when I was waiting for a raise because then I could just listen to the music.

With the end of YoRHa edition I like how with the overlapping languages it sounds almost hopeful.
