I know I'm an old Stan for the Ivalice Raids where it was a legit challenge to do 24-Man Raids. As great as Myths of the Realm has been it has definitely been too easy to be truly satisfying. I hope the FF11 themed raid in Dawntrail goes back to this level of difficulty .Where you hit legit walls where you wipe over and over to one of the bosses. Where you expect to wipe once or twice to a boss even weeks after it's come out.
For me blue mage is an excuse to solo treasure maps, but is only really worthwhile durring moogle events. I've made a lot of gil over the past few weeks, and it reminds me just how much i wish blue mage had gotten ANYTHING in ew. I suppose a few of the spells are nice for tank mimicry, but not great, and its not enough. At leat let me into eureka. Hell let Maryn go to Eureka to see what he does out there.

blue mage is probably my single biggest disappointment about FF14. I love the fantasy and idea of it, and what they did is saying "here, you can have it, but you can not use it!"
now theyre doing it again with another class fantasy I was hoping to see as a regular job for such a long time…..

to this day, even on aether, I always question if we're gonna wipe on Orbonne. I even had a "Abandon duty" on Nov/Dec. Glad I didn't go through. I never did it on primal, I wonder how it is over there since Wiping City and Dun Scaith are usually problematic

SB patches 4.4 and 4.5 were amazing. i miss those days
I've been playing 14 since 1.0 and I just got my BA clear on Christmas Eve 2023 bc I was helping a friend in Hydatos and CAFE came in and had rooms. It was nerve wracking bc messing up is a lot of pressure but the leaders made it so easy and it was actually a lot of fun. Eureka itself is fun tbh.
I have so many things to say about this one. Sorry for the novel.
I had never gotten all the EX mounts in an expansion before, and I made it a goal to get SB's before the droprate was increased or totem turn-in. And the game punished me for it as I did Seiryu 237 times before I finally got the mount. I will never do that again as my 100 Zeromus totems can attest.
Orbonne's brutality in the glory days of Rez Mage meant that I very much felt like I was keeping runs alive quite often. As much as I enjoyed EW's 3 alliance raids, being so ridiculously under-tuned really hurt them in the not-so-long run. Should not be able to skip major mechanics that fast.

I loved Eureka in general, but BA was the best time I had ever had in the game. It was so much fun that my shitty internet connection leading to instant death couldn't even spoil my enjoyment of it.
Speaking of fun, I love Blue Mage. Very unique, get to do a lot of cool stuff you could never really do before. I did the 3 ARR alliance raids when it first came out and got to see mechanics I had NEVER seen before because there was so much death. Sadly, the luster has dulled as the community in general never really got behind the concept, and the devs in turn stopped doing much with it beyond the absolute minimum. I hope to god Beastmaster revitalizes it.
And finally world visit. I was really into doing hunt trains. Before I even knew they were a thing and had whole communities and linkshell networks built around them, I was scouting A-ranks, going to major cities to shout out that I was doing all the SB A-ranks in order and it was always a time watching people not listen to stay close for the Azim mammoth, or getting piggy chomped in the Lochs. World Visit really changed this though. There were so many more people, and the organization was much more thorough in discords, that I kind of felt like I wasn't much needed anymore as there were people who always wanted to be the conductor at specific times of day. I still scouted into Shb, but even that motivation died as the population grew. Every once in a while I'll get it in my head to go do an old-fashioned train in the dead hours…but I never do, and I probably never will.
First time I ran Orbonne Monastery was quite memorable…and not in a good way. >.> I experienced it for the first time during the wait for Endwalker, and uh…I think we wiped 4-5 times to Cid? Primarily because my alliance had a healer who sucked at their job. People were dropping from the parties left and right, until that healer finally dropped, got replaced, and then we breezed through Cid. I think we may have had less than 5 minutes left by the time we finished the raid, and I had to skip the cutscene just to make sure we got through in time.
When I first queued for Orbonne Monastry (for my first run on the week it came out) I'd accidentally left on the "join parties in progress" option toggled. So I spanw into Orbonne Monastry and kick myself because I can see from the duty list that I've skipped the first two bosses in my first run. Then I see my party consists solely of me (WHM) and a PLD. No one else is in the party. The other two parties are similarly depleted. I was quite nervous for that run.
Patch 4.5 the end of Stormblood and the end for challenging 24s a big shame. Orbonne was so good thats what i want to see, they need to rethink the 24s and how to bring them back to this challenge fore the Partys. Lets look to the new one in Dawntrail but i dont think they get harder again .
