Final Fantasy XIV v1.23b: Playing Through Limsa Lomina's Intro



This one I can say for sure we can play through although the tutorial is a bit buggy so I skipped it, but we can get all the way up to the Adventurer’s Guild with Balderon.Had to save the best for last! 😀

  1. Be cool when one day the game is fully working heh! I also kinda wish the bridge in 1.0 for Grindania was re-used in FFXIV ARR in some capacity not as a loading thing but used for another reason. It looked cool and a bit ominous looking maybe because of having a deserted Gridania and how empty and alone you are by yourself. It was the first area I went to when I got the thing setup.

  2. This is my first time seeing in-game cutscenes from 1.X and damn! There was a lot more bespoke animation and dynamic camerawork. I understand that that level of cutscene presentation just wouldn’t be sustainable considering the amount of cutscenes there are from 2.0 and onward. But it’s just really interesting to see the differences.

    The foley and ambient noises in cutscenes feel more fleshed out, too

  3. I had the 1.23b client/server working a couple of years ago but was just my character running around Ul/dah and Thanalan, no NPC's or dialog etc. Big complicated mess to set up all the servers needed to run the game. What CPU/GPU are you running here? Seems fairly smooth.
