I think the main issue I had with Shadowbringers was how disconnected from the rest of the story it was. Excluding the ending when it started getting into the Ascians, you knew that everything going on was just going to be out of sight out of mind as soon as the expansion was over. They kind of tried to avoid that with the Crystarium section in Endwalker, but even then it was a "Hey remember all these people?" section.
Honestly, both SB and EW are pretty similar to me in that they're stories hurt by being in the MMO format. They both have high points that are brought down by MMO padding.
I really Like both ShB and EW, I liked EW a bit more just because it tied a lot of things together but i def agree with the notion of the padding going on for a bit too long
I relate too much with Drak that I wanna try the new ultimate on content but can't go with the group I run savage cause time cannot line up and they also rather watch guide while I find blind prog so much more fun QwQ
May your quest to find an ultimate group work!
Since Drak did the Extremes in PF, does that mean we won't get NEST videos for Ex1 and Ex2? Ngl, I was kinda looking forward to them since these were the first extremes I did on-content.
I kind of agree that ShB story is "better" than EW, but mainly because the topics EW story covers are darker and it's just the overall feeling of doom and gloom during the entire story and, if you dont enjoy those topics, that story is not for you.
I agree with Drak though, ShB is still my absolute favorite. I love Endwalker, but Shadowbringers is still top #1 in my book. No real reason why, I can't even like pinpoint a thing I dislike about it or anything and I don't think the story was convoluted, all the points hit… but they just didn't hit me as HARD as Shadowbringers. I cried SO MUCH in Shadowbringers and I only cried maybe twice in Endwalker.
