were you guys invited to the media tour? I would love to hear your take on what the devs will share!
The biggest thing I'm concerned with is summoner blocking out the sun with all these new effects, similar to when they got big bahamut and everyone immediatly wanted the option to make it small. Can you imagine a phase where you need to see mechanics an the summoner bringing it titan an blotting out the sun
Still sad about AST cards, though it's very in the dark about what's up with AST so I'll have to see on the divination changes.
they can take away some monk positionals but they can't take away the monk muscle memory, I'm gonna be hitting that shit for months after they take it away
I have the feeling the people who say 3.x was the pinacle of FF Classes, didn't play 3.x.
Because I did and I don't want this stuff back, ever again.
I can explain a bit about Scholar, it's actually a bit interesting. Scholar is a great healer and has a great tool kit, but every thing is does, Astro did better and for cheaper. What I mean by that is, Astro had the ability to place shields and had better utility over all.
That doesn't mean Scholar was useless, but Astro and white mage just did it better, easier.
Scholar mains are a bit miffed but we don't know the full extent to the changes to the job yet.
reaper looks sick. reaper main btw.
35 min video: holy fuck
A lot of memeing on SCH but SCH is already strong. Really the only weaknesses it has is poor pet response time and fairy gauge being really underwhelming and useless. It has always been a lot less flashy than its counterparts. As the joke goes "you either hate SCH or you are actually good at playing it."
I view Summoner being revamped is its making room for a true DoT Caster class in 7.0.
AST mains-am I a joke to you?
No mention of almost all classes including casters getting gap closers. đł
From what i understand, Sch mains were sad because Sage has all the tools they were asking for Scholar changes, like properly timing shields and a dinamic resource gauge
And if the solution to Sch not being fun is "Then go play smn or other class", then something went horribly wrong in the class design
I have just mastered my SMN rotation… welp back to the drawing board.
It's not just delirium, all or almost all the buffs work like that. If you press it late enough in your gcd, your first gcd in the buff is earlier into the buff's timer. Since the buff durations are a multiple of the 2.5s gcd but your gcd is actually lower than 2.5s, there's an opportunity to move your gcd forward enough to get an extra hit in the buff duration. It's just more noticeable with delirium because it unlocks bloodspiller as a noticeably more powerful gcd for its duration.
I feel bad for healers and I wish for one expansion they would stop f'ing with Summoners.
Its look brilliant
The thing with Scholar is weird, because you have a lot of people who know nothing about Scholar shitting on it to the point it's now a meme, and then you have the people saying 'no watch, it's going to be OP' who are equally clueless because Scholar is in a crappy situation right now. And no, I'm not talking about viability. I'm talking about clunkiness. Fairy abilities ghosting, certain abilities going off the fairy's potency instead of your own, an oddly designed fairy gauge, the clunkiness and skill delay of using a pet in general. It needed a rework arguably more than SMN, because now we're the only class that uses XIV's clunky pet system. We got MP reductions the past few patches, which, are pointless, since it's near impossible to run out of MP unless you are dropping 3 raises per minute. And what do we get? 'We didn't know what to change with Scholar.' (Which, admittedly, was a bad translation on the translator's part, but still not entirely wrong to what they said.) It has major issues, but there's both sides of the argument muddying the actual problems. We got gutted in ShB, spent a whole expac like that, and we get a statement equivalent to 'this is fine' showing they didn't even put an effort into the class as usual.
Some people are still (and will eternally be) pissed off that SCH design has moved away from "Mostly a DPS class with a healing sidekick" like it was in the Heavensward era, and honestly they need to get over themselves and accept reality.
Ha FINALLY! someone whe watched bleach!
"If you're a SCH, you can go play SMN" -Matt 2021.
And I took that personally… as a SCH main, I legit don't want to play SMN, I'd much rather play RDM, the way SMN currently works isn't for me.
Scholar hasn't lost a thing. They just showed little new things that were visually impacting. That's all. Nothing else. People is overreacting as usual.
Summoner really made me think of Elemental shaman đ
Anyone else notice the title? XD
Actually I don't think anyone got what they wanted from the changes. We all got stuff. But nothing we actually wanted for our classes.
Typo, typo, typo, typo, typo, typo. Lul.
Ignore people who complain about positionals on Monk, they don't even understand the fundamentals of the job.
Ngl, I wouldâve preferred if samurai last attack was a âhigh speed dimensional slashingsâ and when he sheathes his sword then it does the big big dmg, instead of these simple double heavy slashes. Idk, I lean more towards the flashy aspect of any game, including ffxiv.
Nobody wants a 4th Mudra.
The big theme with Endwalker seems to be "Give the Players the Satisfaction they Crave" from the class thematics to the rotations and skills themselves. It's about removing the barriers to enjoying the class (such as breaking combo's for using ranged attacks), reducing clunk overall (Pruning the shit out of SMN and getting rid of "clunk" aspects such as DoT and Pet AI determining dps, as well as shortening burst phases from 5ish GCD's down to 3 as demonstrated with Warrior and Dark Knight, and lowering the Red Mage mana req being lowered), and giving badass/great feeling abilities without adding button-clutter (transforming and conditional abilities, best demonstrated by Ninja and Gunbreaker).
Everyone won this expansion. The 'losers' were classes who didn't get obtrusively more of what they wanted or that we got the least information about. That's a really great position to be in for a game with as long of a history as FFXIV. People are averse to change, so the fact that people are as pleased with the changes as they are is a very positive and encouraging prospect.
We got Christmas gifts…. Just not the ones we asked for…..
The job action trailer is always hype, but we won't know what things are actually like until the media tour embargo is lifted and we see the tooltips. They never get it completely right, there are always a couple of jobs that they fuck up, but you can't tell just from the trailer. I play Monk and I got really excited by the job action trailer for Shadowbringers in 2019, but it turned out that the 5.0 release state of Monk was the worst the job has ever been. They ended up having to apologize for the launch state of the job, bandaid patch it in 5.05 and then rework it in 5.4.
What the job action trailer also doesn't tell you is the stuff that gets removed or simplified. The devs are very conscious about button bloat and they will not simply add new actions to a job without considering whether that job has too many actions already. But they feel they HAVE to add new actions with each expansion, so if a job is already pushing the limits of how many buttons it can have (which tends to be about 30-32 after considering role actions, sprint and limit break), then they will remove or consolidate existing actions, or the new actions will simply be upgrades/extensions of existing ones. Sometimes this can end up with jobs getting new actions that are useless, annoying or which just don't really add anything to the job, while other areas get dumbed down.
"It's look BRILLIANT"
Scholars are in a great place. Scholars just miss HW days when they were 3/4 a summoner and a full healer. They were OP as shit. People miss having the full dps kit on a healer. Most people complaining are just repeating memes.
For Ninja I just wish they would get rid of the bunny. I only get it because of lag spikes, so lets not kick me while I am down.
Kind of unrelated and I'm not sure you guys are interested on covering this, but wondering if you have any thoughts on the upcoming swtor expansion.
