  1. Yeah this took me a bit to actually process, but once I actually understood that it was the app I was using that was being discontinued it didn't take too long to swap to a new app. Kinda sad but oh well

  2. I recently had to switch to the app because my old physical token finally started giving the low battery warning. I am a bit irritated at this but it’s whatevs…. I will change out out later as I will need to set up the other services.

  3. Wait, there's an emergency removal password? Wtf?

EDIT: on PHYSICAL tokens, like I have, you need the serial number printed on the back of the token. Presumably, that takes the place of an "emergency removal password".

  4. PSA: Some authenticator apps let you back up the services you have in the app in case you damage your phone and need to reinstall. It will restore everything as it was before the mishap.

  5. Wait, this app was actually maintained? I've tried several times to use it over the years (and no my phone isn't super old or anything) and every time it just froze on my phone as soon as I opened it and I never saw anything more than the initial screen. I assumed it had been abandoned or something.

  6. I have the physical key ring, but I need to figure a replacement out soon. Found out my WoW one died when I went to play Diablo and my FFXIV one is only like 2 years newer.

  7. Thank god! I use the google authenticator for everything and it's a lot easier to move between phones. I don't gotta hold on to my old phone now since I didn't wanna deal with moving the SE token app to my new phone.

  8. So does anyone know of any other apps I can use? I don’t want a physical token…I lost that one time and it was a HUGE hassle to get back my account and have the token removed cause I didn’t have my emergency number

  9. That one time i broke my phone and couldn't access the game because i didn't have the backup password in mind, fucking hell to find it. Never again, fuck that i'm not going to go get my phone to log in it's so annoying

  10. I'm not saying the TOS breaking third party game launcher has a wonderful 2fa app that lets you send the code to the launcher over WiFi, but it sounds convenient.

  11. Every FFXIV player should get Two-Factor Authentication. You do not want to be in a situation where the game you have been playing for years and years gets hacked and all of your progress and memories are gone. Take the extra few seconds to use the One-Time-Password on login.
