If a skill does 100,000 damage, and you have 60% crit damage, a crit will do 160,000 damage.
A direct hit will do 125,000 damage since DH is always 25%
but a CDH will not do 185,000 damage, since both are multipliers. CDH will deal 200,000 damage, meaning getting both at the same time generates 15,000 damage from the air.
So depending on your job, 5%-8% of the time you'll do 200% damage on any button. RNG has the potential to give you ridiculous damage values.
CASTS GCD UPTIME >>>>> Crit Farming :^)
Kill time hugely affects so i was getting 90/95 but the boss kept dying right before my next inner release but one 3 people died to superchain meaning the boss died just after my inner release burst i got rank 27 99 parse
sounds like a number 2 take.
I wish there was some sort of normalised potency option in fflogs that would cut away all the specific damage numbers and just give you an idea of how much raw potency you are putting into the boss.
Jokes on you I don't use logs, I just clear the content. All that shit is pointless. You don't have to play perfect to clear anything.
that's why i usually look at the 90th percentile when thinking about job damage balance, especially because it gives me the full zoomed out graph of all the jobs. The overall graph is very nice but you tend to lose context because it's zoomed in to show the differences. Usually ticking on the option to show the actual per-second damage amounts helps too.
I found out there were discord servers specifically to crit farm. I used to get easy 99s on EX PF parties and now im sweatin just to get oranges. If people are making parties just to reach those 99s then its GG. Im not stressing over it with randoms
Nuance is the takeaway here and I do find it helpful for comparing casts to learn where I can improve my uptime.
Logs are worthless. Its always the same process:
– use pot @ around 2min then 8min etc. (depends on the fight/difficulty or job)
– try to keep the gcd rolling constantly
– always use the high potency (or resource gen) skills first
– kill time, crit luck, DH, DH crits are not under your personal control and this one is very huge
I‘m a shitty player and even i get 97-99 logs if i just focus on the stuff that pushes your rdps to the maximum… I can fail a mechanic and still come out the fight with 95+. Or i can get a better parse if we kill the boss at 8:30min instead of 7:50min because i can fit 2 bursts into another tincute. So a rank doesnt tell if your good or not. It just tells how much you follow the rules of a 3rd party website. Get that out of your mind asap.
ive never use ff logs. only uploads on my character are from other people lol. i dont see a need for logs
I mean, everything out of 2 min is technically lowering ur average dps. So best kill time is right after a 2 min window…
solid advice my g
LMAO the chat being uninterested is funny asf
dont know why fflogs even uses crits in rankings, why isn't it just base potency calculated from numeber of casts? That's where the real performance is, not gear and crits lol.
Its kind of wild how much information is hidden in logs that people don't know/care to look at. You can actually have it open two logs in comparison mode in one tab, which is super helpful for things like this just seeing both players log side by side. Also when checking casts, its often useful to use the filters to have it only show you casts under certain buffs, since even if both players have the same crit %, if one of them only crit their burst and the other was critting in filler or with a mistimed burst window they could have very different DPS.
Honestly though, I feel the timeline is the most under appreciated feature of logs, especially if you are playing a job with multiple viable rotations. I remember playing PLD before the rework and you could pull up 3 logs of similar rank from 3 different players and get entirely different rotations. This was especially noticeable to me in DSR due to the short phases and everyone had a different way to handle the downtime.
This actually did help a lot. I've been on both ends where I've parsed 99 and 05 and other than "don't die" I've hard a hard time looking at the logs and figuring out what needs to be done to improve.
Thanks xeems
EXCELLENT SPREADSHEET ADVICE MY LIEGE
Genuinely helpful tip.
I'm a youtube frog 🐸
dude ur editor is so fukin annoying
You should discuss xivanalysis. Very good tool to visualize mistakes and overall performance.
This chat is an absolute menace to be using those snoring sound effect on videos to help others.
Btw there is a tool to easily find a log that has the same KT (or rather similar KT) :
Go to "Compare" tab on your log and on "Or you can search for parses similar to yours using the options below:".
Select yourself and make sure to limit search to about 5s diff between kill time.
Finally, select the damage metric and hit search, you'll have a list of every log that has similar kill time with the best possible dps for that kill time. (which will show you your cast vs theirs)
i never logged in on ps5, but when i get a chance to see them im always good
Really appreciate the vid Xeno!
Definitely helpful, cause you can look at the casts as well no matter what gear you have, even when you way lower equipped and just want to check if you did everything right you can check the casts and also if you know the fight well I would say the timeline to see when the person used certain abilities.
Excellent fflogging my liege
good content, should including also looking at timeline of them and their party to see if the reason for more or less casts is due to moved buff windows due to for example different strats. shared this to all my friends
Amazing explanation milord
Cheers my liege
More like this without the meme chat would be awesome. 2nd channel stuff maybe I dunno.
NGL, I thought most people already knew this and just talked about crit for banter. When you look at your log and compare it to others', and you have less casts on core skills, you know you fucked up somewhere but it's usually an easy fix. Baldman is right
Bro is logging in a dress up game
You can compare your logs to another player by copying the long string of letters and numbers before the # in the url for whatever fight you want to compare, going to another players logs, clicking 'compare' and pasting the string. To add on, use the timeline feature. It'll tell you exactly what was cast and when. You also have several sorting options for damage done, damage taken, etc. They'll help you figure out if something killed you and you don't know what, for instance. It's how our static finally figured out Light Rampant. If you hit replay you can see the fight in its entirety, player positions, their casts, boss casts/autos, deaths, and so on. You can even sort out other players if you want. It's a very useful tool when used correctly.
Xeno used to have some of the best content to learn from, this is a great throwback to that. Just a shame that streamers have to pander to the garbage that is twitch chat.
L for those who use third party tools.
Where is it you think that people fail to get good logs?
bro i follow i like i even watch your streams what do you want lmfaoo
This is a great video, I went over the same things mentioned in this video with a friend. Knowing your rotation is a major step to getting good numbers but kill time, crits and direct hit rates all contribute to your number. There will come a point where you'll have similar casts and uptime as others who have high numbers, but their crits are higher which is not something you can change. Past a certain point it just boils down to luck
I really need to get to work on the EXs…I really want a pair of those wings.
Hell yeah, YouTube frog thumbs up brother! 🐸 👍
