imo i think eso has the best new user experience. its like, heres a world" go make it your own. your skills get better as you us them you can pretty much be anything you want
Glad to see people pointing out the problem here, Bel talking about systems of the game when he doesn’t have the experience to speak on it. It’s seemed like a grift for quite some time but now it’s getting to be too much. Till he progresses in the game and gains the experience, they won’t gain my views. See ya.
I really can't understand why they talk about FF XIV graphics. Every time I'm into wow I think I'm playing a Nintendo 64 game lol
I disagree that WoW's new player experience is anywhere on the level of FF's. FF takes the time to teach you roughly how the endgame systems work, starting when you reach level 50. At endgame, you still have trials, raids, and dungeons, and while the game never forces you do to 8-man raids, the crystal tower raids are required and so there isn't a single pocket of major endgame content that you aren't at least somewhat familiar with when you reach cap. Contrast this to WoW, where you have the extremely unintuitive introduction of world quests, where they are time-limited and in order to track them you have to click them on the map, but if you don't click them they just kinda show up like bonus objectives, which btw are a thing that disappears entirely when you reach level cap, the game doesn't give you any prior knowledge of how to gear up, and in fact you need to dig through menus to find out without having external help, and oh btw all of these things take a lot of time because there are a lot of traversal options that simply aren't open to you until you do a lot of grinding for them too, but when you're grinding them you're not increasing your item level, and when you're increasing your item level you're not progressing your legendaries, and so on. It's a fucking nightmare to try and hop into WoW, no matter when you do it, and even if it is fun to mess around with different specs and talents you don't have time to do that because the game and playerbase pressure you into 50 different things at once and it's overwhelming.
The lvl 50-52 in ff14 is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in an mmo
I think I'm kinda done with these videos/streams until you actually play the game. Its been months now and the uninformed clickbait got really really old. You haven't even done titan yet, you're in no position to discuss the game.
Bro, either play the game or don't, but don't talk like you know shit if you don't know shit.
Well I’m glad I’m not only one asking why they still discuss it when he’s still level 30 and hasn’t played in weeks lol
Shame as I was looking forward to his views on plot points, the uploaded clips he said he’d do of his reaction to big moments (to compensate for not streaming) play the game, get an idea of it then discuss it to length. Or maybe just say “guys I haven’t played in weeks and I’m lvl 30 I’m not gonna be taking questions on xiv any more until time I maybe get back and play it which atm is up in the air as I’ve hit the arr block y’all told me about and fee it winning over me”
Instead it just feels like a token xiv video/question per day since the xiv videos are some of the most viewed (apart from the asmon one)
Honestly with all that has gone wrong with WOW, dead beginning areas do to buying levels, bots, everything can be bought with money, law suits, i think that FF is better and will be until Blizz fixes there stuff.
Dude, where's your ffxiv playthrough? Don't act like you are an ffxiv expert lol
As a new player to mmo in general, I started 14 in June and i didn’t have any problems. I feel like those things bell said only matter when transferring between games
Level 31…..honestly mate do you wanna actually have a crack before having an opinion? You can get to level 31 in 4 hours if that.
You are as bad as blizzard launching stuff without checking it and balancing it later. Bit of a hypocrite.
I was excited because I hear FFXIV awesome story until I played it and found how soo damn slooow it really is. Also the story is very "anime" where you get cutscenes: lots of exposition and very little action, just characters talking. And LOT OF INVISIBLE WALLS! Especially where there is water. Other MMOs have little to no invisible walls to break your immersion.
The voice acting is pretty bad and inconsistent. Around lvl 8 I had a cutscene with two character were voiced with alot of action but the next cutscenes, one a lvl 12 quest, those same two characters were not voiced. It was very odd to hear did character speak before, only to now not speak anymore. This seems happens alot in the early levels, where they skimp out on the voice acting. That and the outdated graphics makes this game feel pretty bad early on.
I really hope it gets better because the combat is pretty nice, and the agency feel good as if the devs actually respect your time.
Star wars the old republic is my go to storyline is off the chain, always stuff to do. Ffxiv was a bit to slow, even at end game. Try swtor if you haven't. Its ftp , pay for features, no p2w
Some of these comments are bonkers lol. Guys I think they can talk about the new player experience without playing the game for 100 hours.
Having to agree here that your lack of game knowledge is showing. I think there is one thing though that can be made very apparent. The early game is rough. But that's about all you have knowledge wise on the game. One point, better feeling for pressing buttons is pretty subjective. Early on FF suffers for sure, but later on it's probably not only better than WoW, but the best mmo for pressing buttons. It's building the foundation for it, but you wouldn't know since you haven't really played it. If anything you should make a video as to why you won't play the game. The early game can be really bad for players and maybe that's a good video or topic to make. But continuing this stale content where you basically are saying how little you know about the game has gotten pretty old, sorry.
There is an NPC in the Stormwind castle that will stop you from gaining experience. He doesn't have a "HEY DUMBY CLICK ON ME TO FINISH YOUR STORY" name or anything and I found him by accident… but… you can stop the 'Chromie Kick' with that if you want to…. Horribly implemented… but… it's there… (kind of a trend with that lately… and by lately I mean the last 6'ish years)
bro, just play the game.
Im done watching Bellular Clips after this. Its literally the same thing every video… Talk about FFXIV and the good vs the bad vs WoW, and yet you don't really seem to know what your talking about because your clearly not even playing the game. I've played WoW from orig release through Pandaria, and then came back for Classic and now playing TBC relaunch. I also play and will continue to play FFXIV because its just that good of a game. There is a "story" in WoW, but its broken and all over the place. Its literally next to impossible for a new player in WoW to experience the WoW story because of the rush to get to end game. You only get the "current" story. If I fresh joined WoW tomorrow and knew nothing, after playing for a week I'd just know what is going on in shadowlands and be lvl capped. 1 week of new experience in FFXIV and I'd have gotten 100x the lore and story and not even be halfway through ARR content. Not in the market to give a youtuber advice at all, but either play the game or stop talking about it comparatively to WoW. They are both great games and at this point most ppl know it. So either play FFXIV and THEN talk about it, or give up. Your just talking about it non stop at this point I think to keep the FFXIV viewers watching your videos.
I play FFXIV now and have for half a year, but the new player experience for me was absolutely boring. I basically had to force my way through ARR and even took several breaks. Luckily the story got interesting at the end which lead directly into Heavensward and it's been more smooth sailing since.
It takes a lot of getting used to from WoW because WoW feels smoother, WoW's UI was better imo and the macro's you could make in WoW were more combat friendly.
One of the things in FFXIV I still can't get used to is not having a macro that changes which skill is used depending on if I'm targeting a friend or foe.
I tried FF, but my biggest frustration was being dropped in the city to start, having to read a whole bunch of text, when all I wanted to do was see "what's the combat like?" So I finally found my way out of the city to fight some mobs. I'll probably try it again, but it felt too railroaded for me, I would have preferred to go to the city once I had developed an appreciation for where the story was headed, rather than be forced to sit through orientation before getting a reason to stick around.
I just quit WoW for FFXIV and I'm sure I'll really enjoy it down the line but the starting experience in Real Reborn is fucking boring as shit. It's not bad, it's not overwhelming, it's just boring. Exile's Reach gets you into the game and learning the ropes of what you'll be doing while questing and grouping from the get go, and it's exciting while doing it, while FFXIV's beginnings are just a bunch of running around doing "meet and greet" quests, tons of reading and very little actual engaging gameplay, and the early quests are definitely less fun than the one's in Exile's Reach + BfA.
Like, yeah, I haven't played enough about FF to make a full comparison between the two games and I'm pretty sure I'll love the game once I get past this, but if we're talking specifically about the New Player Experience then Bellular is exactly right.
