  1. I would actually make the argument that WoW on console NOT being cross play could be an interesting idea. If console WoW had no addon support and you had to play the game clean with other people not running addons, that is an experience I would actually consider trying.

  2. Honestly I do not understand why world of Warcraft is not already out on console because even if WoW did not have any type of controller support both the Xbox and PlayStation console have had keyboard and mouse support since the PS4 and Xbox One came out. Also you can play Final Fantasy 14 with keyboard and mouse on PlayStation consoles if you prefer. Now I do think having controller support for WoW is a good thing especially for people who would have trouble using a keyboard and mouse but truthfully WoW could have already been put on consoles ages ago.

  3. The biggest issue I'd say with controller is targeting precisely what you want to target very quickly. FF14 makes this somewhat possible with a slow GCD but it's not perfect.

I play Astro on a controller and in order to play it comfortably I had to set up a system of macros that allow me to target a specific party member and retarget the boss or mob very swiftly. It took developing some muscle memory to use this system efficiently and I still sometimes mess it up.

All in all though while not impossible to use a controller is definitely inferior when you are dealing with a tab targeting system.

  4. I think the main issue with adapting to playing WoW on pad is that WoW's combat is more button spammy than 14's.
14 has a rotation of 1…2…3…with some OGCDs thrown in between.
WoW has a rotation of spells, trinkets, cooldowns, proccs, etc all happening at the same time. It may be fine, but for now, I feel like it would be like playing DDR on controller.

  5. I tried raiding in WoW on a gamepad. I'd rather get herpes. And I say this as a guy who hasn't even touched my keyboard ONCE in FFXIV. This is gonna be a HUGE problem in WoW with an already toxic fanbase that demands mathematical perfection in DPS or gtfo. This won't work well without some big changes and a fundamental shift in how they design raids.

  6. Most of the stuff talked about is stuff I've taken for granted playing ESO. I tried SWTOR and couldn't stand the way camera works and how much clicking I had to do. Never played any "traditional" MMOs and mainly just played fps games so ESO felt really good.

  7. Yoshi P deliberately kept the cross bar system open for all developers to implement into their MMORPG. He wanted this because he believes in MMORPG on consoles. If WoW wants to directly copy the crossbar system, they don't need any permission.

  8. I played WoW using wow mapper and controller addon UI and it was…okay. The only real bad issue I had with it was that switching targets was painful. Otherwise, it wasn't super bad. Like if I could switch targets using Dpad like in FFXIV, it would be infinitely better imo.

  9. Im sure its fine with a gamepad…
but even if it didnt have controller support they could have ported it long ago.

Consoles have supported keyboards and mice since xbox360/ps3

  10. So basically instead of using the FFXIV method and admitting then they do something better
they will take most of it from how GW2 does it…
I mean both games do it better then wow… but sheesh.

  11. WoW will have to change how some gameplay works in order to get controllers to be on par, mostly because of reaction times. FFXIV is pretty methodical in terms of how you interact with enemies (therefore you can plan ahead more), but WoW is more on-reaction stuff. Could be a problem for interrupts on fast cast timers.

Also, I can only imagine the wear-and-tear on controllers that using certain modifiers would result in. As it is, in certain games (like Dark Souls and Nioh 2) my L/R triggers/bumpers and joysticks wear down and start malfunctioning after 200-300 hours on average. Compare that to my mechanical keyboard that I've had for literally 10 years and it still works perfectly. Most of my mice have anecdotally lasted 6+ years. Could get kinda expensive long-term if you have to buy a new controller every 6 months (depending on the kind you buy and how much you play).

  12. I'm currently playing WoW with a controller after not playing for little more than a year and it's been a lot more enjoyable. I just had to take the time to get the hotbars looking like it does and how it works in FFXIV.
My only issue currently is, being a healer, tabbing between allies is awkward. I wish I could have it work like it does in FFXIV where I just hit up and down on my d-pad instead of up for party member 1, left for 2 and so on.
Other then that, liking it for just casually lvling and playing through dungeons.

  13. FF is not available on XBOX because I think Microsoft didn't want to have players on their console to be cross platform across Playstation and PC.

Meaning XBOX players would be playing with only XBOX players, don't think Yoshi-P wants that for the game.

    At least that's what I remember hearing…

On another note, I bet WoW players are excited to get a whole new player-base to be toxic to. Let's spread out that WoW love.

  14. What's the content you're doing in the video, Ruri? Is it Eureka or some of its further step? Don't think I've been here yet, and I believe I maybe only missed SB relic chain.
