  1. Played it to level 60, combat wasn't as fun as WoW for me and not really into the story for either of them. (The mary sue syndrome was way too strong in FF, makes me appreciate how little they focus on our character in WoW.) Loved Golden Saucer, the world and the way they told the story, even if I didn't care much about the story itself. That being said I'm not playing either game right now.

  2. I consider FFXIV to be a detox to old bad habits gamers have picked up over the years in other MMORPGs. It reminds players what fun is. The feeling of frustrations and impatience you feel for the first time you try FFXIV is a sign that you are being reprogrammed back to default setting.

  3. WoW does not offer anything of interest to me unlike FFXIV. I’m a FFXI veteran so when FFXIV 1.0 released, it was a no brained for me to switch over. In fact, it offered more to me than what FFXI offered! I wanted to really get into crafting in FFXI, but it was incredibly RNG and you had no input into successfully making an item.

  4. FFXIV pvp is amazing now. Arguably it was always the best in a MMO since you couldn't overgear anyone everyone is the same level and the same gear meaning people who won were actually skilled. If it wasn't the server tick people would literally have no problem with it.

  5. The beat part about FFXIV is that you aren't forced to play it all the time. You can take breaks between patches, just do your daily dungeons, etc, and you'll never feel like you're too far behind others due to the sheer amount of catch up mechanisms and the fact that fights are designed around mechanics and not gear.

You can come in, enjoy what you want and then go play something else without feeling like you're missing out.

  6. It's overall pretty simple as to why you'd give it a shot as a WoW player:
    – For the story/world lovers, obviously it's better.
    – For the profession lovers, you get way more in depth gathering that are basically a whole other game, with gear, abilities, story, exclusive content, etc.
    – For the raiders, you get super high quality, amazing presentation raids with way less chores to do/maintain to get into them, that are also more about actual skill than grinding for power to overcome them.
    – For people who just like fun side content, there's way more of that with things like gold saucer being a bigger, permanent darkmoon fair, deep dungeons, hildibrand, eureka, bozja, etc.

    There's really something for everyone.

  7. Here is a FF14 pitch that would work:
"Its a game made by a giant WoW fan, who took everything that was good from WoW, before the Dark Times, and made an MMO that never was run into the ground, due to corporate greed and blind arrogance. Also they just wrap 10 year long, VERY GOOD, story line completely successfully, so that's impressive if anything else.",

  8. The PvP is good enough in FF14 now that even PvP enthusiasts could possibly have a good time. Not all of them, but some. The one "group" of players that actually would have the hardest time adapting to FF14 would be M+ players. I'm not sure how many MMOs have party sized scalable content, but FF14 doesn't.

That said, that was the one aspect of WoW that I was hanging on to, and when I finally let it go, I found plenty of new things to do in FF14.

  9. FINAL FANTASY XIV has a very good PvP.
It is an afterthought either way, as this is not a competitive game like League of Legends or Street Fighter, so it has the right amount of it. And it is great too.

  10. I only started playing FFXIV cuz of Acco ranting about how amazing it was. And it took me until about lvl 20-25 when the story really opened up that I fell in love with it. The story is fantastic, ties together from ARR all the was to Endwalker. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone and I thank Accolonn for turning me onto it last summer. I've sank hundreds of hours into that game just completing the MSQ and there's so much I've not yet done
