Shadowbringers is top tier Final Fantasy story. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's great because the way it begins is completely disconnected from the story you have been following up to this point…..then it all comes together.

Glad you checked this one out. Be sure to check out the one for Stormblood as well, while that expansion may be a bit under-rated compared to the rest, it is absolutely beautiful. I can still remember how psyched up I was by it when it first dropped.

Shadowbringers and Endwalker are literally the epitome of amazing RPG stories, or stories overall. Its insane how good the writing is.
The scene where Derplander (your stand in) is an archer at 2:57 is a call back to 1.0 (seriously, do a NoClip FFXIV documentary reaction for more info on the story of FFXIV), and each class he changes to is a call back to each trailer prior to this one. The attention to detail in lore and the game is amazing, and FFXIV is one of the best video game RPG stories of all time specifically because of all the attention to detail.
While you can do a level skip straight to Shadowbringers and play through it in game, it is really going to hurt your appreciation for this expansion because having the story wind it's way through the base game (A Realm Reborn), Heavensward, and Stormblood really builds to a point where the Minfilia reveal was a total OMGWTF moment in the community… because of how that character was handled in ARR and HW. Shadowbringers showed us that the awesomeness that was the story of Heavensward wasn't a flash in the pan nor a one hit wonder, but that's how good the story for FFXIV is. To this day, the quality in story and gameplay has not dropped. FFXIV is one of the few games that's worthy of the praise and hype it receives.
Best story/exp of all time.
At the time of the release announcement for Shadowbringers, it was an exciting time for fans. Especially when the Warrior of Light changed to Dark Knight and split the sky. Just to give you a hint, the Japanese version of the game is FFXIV: Shikoku no Villains. The Jet Black Villains.

FF14 is a once-in-a-generation story. You thought the cinematic was hype? With the context, it's without comparison. Great react, do yourself a solid and play this jam, it's an enriching experience.
You should rewatch these once you get to them in the game. The shadowbringers trailer especially absolutely threw everyone into a fit with some of the wild plot stuff in there.
As someone who has played video games for over 40 years, I can say that FFXIV is the best story ever told in gaming, Is it perfect, no not at all as no game will ever be. Be careful searching for information because of spoilers, if you ever decide to play. The community is very welcoming and very adamant about not spoiling story for new players.
Okay. You're gonna have to watch Stormblood. Then you need to rewatch this, then you need to PLAY the game… Finish up Shadowbringers and THEN watch ENDWALKER. Otherwise you just won't be ready, my guy.

Skipped a trailor bro. Stormblood was before Shadowbringers. If you have any thoughts of playing the game I encourage you to hold off on watching the Endwalker trailer until after you beat shadowbringers though. I mean you can if you want, but things hit alot harder with context when it comes to that specific trailer.
