To add one little thing – There are cases where mods have in my opinion done some good for the game i.e. Speech bubbles, texture upgrades, features to aid with accessibility, some quality of life things like account wide key binding from character to character. These are great things to show the developers what people might want implemented. At the end of the day do what makes you happy.
That launcher just reminds me of what RuneLite did for RuneScape. It eventually got endorsed by Jagex because it gave a ton of QoL that Jagex didn't have the manpower, wherewithal, or knowledge of what players wanted to implement themselves. Instead of saying to get rid of it Square should work with them and regulate what is and isn't allowed. The whole "NO MODS" idealogy is so backwater that it makes no sense. Modding has never been easier and it's only getting easier and easier every year, in every game. I been involved in modding since 2007 and started with WoW.
I don't get the obsession FF14 players have with being anti-mod. Especially in your case where you don't like certain mods because, what I'm gathering, "They're incel-y" and "you don't like them"? Hell even the raid mods from what I've seen in FF are just zoom out and the equivalent of DeadlyBossMods in WoW. It's not cheating, it's clarification. Unless the mods are playing the game for them, i.e. controlling their character, that's the only way I can see it as cheating.
Modders monetizing their mods is no different from Artists selling their artwork. Am I going to find a free download of that mod? 100% but that's a different issue.
Personally what keeps me away from FF14 is the whole stance on modding being bad. I could not care less about there being coomer mods, what someone wants to do with their right hand is between them and their keyboard.
So what’s the end goal here? Are you trying to get mods banned with this expose? Because you’re definitely using mods too. Especially that hair, the outfits…you probably use Bibo+
Problems:
– Paid mods (get the fuck out of here. Most games that allow modding disallow monetization for a reason)
– People showing off their mods on SE official sites, forums, and tags (modding is illegal in Japan, Y'all could get the devs in a metric fuck load of trouble, stop that.)
– Plugins that allow you to cheat at the game ( Are you serious?)
– Mods that, if in Mare, crash other peoples computer. Why are you using unoptimized gear mods bro.
Like, i get it! But please for the love of all that is holy and good stop plastering your mods everywhere.
Edit: also i mod the game. I still buy fantasia and glamour off the mog station and i still farm glam in game. If i can get something i want vanilla im gunna do it.
I really couldn't imagine caring this much about virtual fashion to begin with. FFXIV players are a whole other level of weird.
Could have mentioned that most people don't use this to cheat and instead use this for creative purposes. It's not just vanity like you say.
because of that intro, I just decided to have a good day so thank you!
Didn't even mention Mare Sync, which is by far the thing I hate the most. I wouldnt really care if mods were just a thing that only you could see. But with Mare these people are basically communally playing a completely different game from the rest of us. It fractures the community. Roleplaying on Balmung is basically impossible anymore if you don't want to use it.
This game would bleed out without mods nowadays tbh. Instead of reallocating their already sparse development resources to releasing "mini patches", they should focus on more meaty content.
mods good unga bunga case closed
8:04 not really
Textool auto updates the moment the patch drops and just fixes the mods immediately unless it’s DT with texture changes and such then it’s all fix it regardless for every mod
It’s mainly tools that allow you to pose that require time to update constantly
While some of the concerns may be valid throwing out accusations that dalamud is stealing user information when the entire project is open source and an open license (AGPL–3) just reeks of a content creator who's desperate for engagement and will do anything to stir the pot for it.
I'll be honest. Even if the mods being removed would be a "positive". It wouldn't. They would be actually going SEVERELY downhill possibly even into the negatives. Why I say this is because ff14 is their ONLY cash source. I have realized that everyone that does mod, would actually quit.
Now why is that? Because this dogshit game has not had content since 6.0. And even 6.0 hasnt had any content. Making players have the NEED to sandbox and create their own content hence all of these things. If Square would actually put investment into the game. For instance EVERYTHING claimed Dawntrail would have: Beast master, Bozja style zone, firmament style zone, chaos raid all at the beginning of the expansion. Meaning 7.0 people would be hyped to play the game do things and enjoy.
Instead ERP is RAMPANT as theres /lookout NOTHING /clap TO /clap FUCKING /clap DO /clap. Along with raids not having lock out anymore including alliance and normal as soon as they're available. Why? SO PEOPLE WILL INTERACT WITH IT MORE THEN ONCE A WEEK AND LOG THE FUCK OFF.
Game right now actually needs a director of content that ISNT Yoshi-P that is going to be looking at aggressively making content for the game. And making things actually be done at a timely manner along with being able to do it at your pace. Fast or slow. Its fucking ridiculous.
What happened to all your old videos?
visual mods are the best but people that make them and charge money is what i don't like about the community, lol that furry retard killed XD
Poor indie company Square Enix losing so much money from cash shop outfits, oh how sad. ;_;
Only mod i ever used was the VR mod because i wanted to look at some locations in game in vr because they are pretty.
First person VR walking thru Limsas buildings at night is so relaxing. The final zone of end-walker is also really beautiful in VR.
the amount of dimes dropped in this video is.. staggering. i say, good shit.. keep it up. i have hats on my viera.. and a tail too so i'll just leave that there
My friend, you've only scratched the surface.
For cosmetics you've got Penumbra allows you to mod your game live, Glamourer is the in game free fantasia services on the fly, and Mare Synchronos that literally syncs those mods and appearance changes with other people. Those people aren't talking about the moon in their search info.
For cheating you've got cammy to zoom out to outer-fuckin-space, NoClippy to compensate for ping and assist with weaving, Splatoon to see the safe spots drawn on the floor for you, and XIV Alexander can just do your rotation for you.
And it's not that the devs can't implement an anti-cheat, it's that they're afraid they waited too long to act on it and we reached critical mass. With so much of the player base modding at this point, fixing this would probably be the thing that kills FF's player base.
I'm just lukewarm on mods. On one hand, I like mods and plugins and wish some of the stuff in there was actually in the game for both QOL reasons and just great creativity (biggest reason why I use them, vfx mods are just so good man), but on the other, I literally don't care anymore if we're deprived of them now, with how so many people are just dumbasses being loud about them in all situations involving just editing files.
I use Anamnesis to try glam and set in-game time to midday becasue I hate decorating my yard when it's dark. And that's about it. Other mod things scare me. 😂
Tbh you were definitely not the one to make this video. Considering the history of this channel it was always going to come across as hypocritical for you to criticize mods. Considering that if your personal character information was public you would be banned for producing this video. The level of "cutting off your nose to spite your face" in this video is high.
So you're salty? xD Which dev wronged you?
Did Lulu just challenge the Housing community?
seems very unwise.
One thing that I found out recently is that it's actually illegal to make third-party modifications to software in Japan. The fact that we have a Dev team working on FF14 that is willing to look the other way on this issue is pretty awesome. However, it also leads to a lot of ignorant people abusing that leniency. I am concerned people pushing the boundaries like this is just going to lead to an all-around mod ban and I'd hate that. I don't even use mods and I can see the value in them with some of them becoming an official part of the game.
My hope is more and more of the good mods can be integrated in rather than completely shut down, but these things are going to take a lot of time to implement on the server side so people are going to be too impatient and could just ruin the whole thing for everyone else.
As a PlayStation player, I cannot mod. But if I could, it would be for one reason:
SE, stop genderlocking job poses. LET ME DO THE CLOUD AND KAIN POSES ON MY FEMALE CHARACTER. LET ME HOLD MY WEAPON WITH ONE HAND. LET MY MALE DRK PLAYERS DO THE CLIVE POSE AND LET THE MALE SMN/SCH READ THEIR BOOKS. We know you're not reading the book with that male pose, it's just to show the pretty pictures.
Edit: Now the big question is – how many people watch the video before commenting Lulu is a hypocrite?
If I see modded accounts on socials, and I can figure out who it is in game, I just go report them in game. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (It does nothing but it makes my willy wiggle anyway)
I may repeat myself.
I complained about the extensive shown attitude of characters wearing less and less. Whereever they wanted. Even in battles, where people can't leave without penalty. And I got attacked for it in game. Now it seems like people can't get rid of the ghosts they called. This matter is just an extension of glamouring the most possible shown amount of skin, while not thinking of others.
I'm honestly sorry for people suffering on the matter described here. But shouldn't people just live with it now, after blaming others like me? We tried to even interests out between us players, while we were still playing.
I'm just happy that i don't play anymore and not giving others the option to manipulate my characters.
I don’t play FFXIV anymore due to.. you guessed it, the lack of content. But when I did play I was using certain hat mods for my viera. And a few outfits here and there. But when I saw the paid mods I realized.. this is a service issue. Like I bet square Enix could resort to hosting (at least in NA) a platform where people can sell their mods and SE gets some level of a profit from it. I think it is in fact kind of bad that people sell so many mods. Like a couple outfits, a hairstyle, tattoos, and some makeup can cost upwards of $100 or more alone. So yes the RMT is a huge problem. But also SE could sell the equivalent to WoW tokens but they won’t, so people also sell Gil, and BiS gear, and crafter grind. It’s entirely Squares problem and fault. And imo the corporation can get f*cked. They don’t give us content. You’d think that after 10 f*cking years, they’d Idunno.. not increase the time between content drops. Who does that? Could it be greedy ass developers with no morals? I sure think so. The lazy f*cks. If anyone from the dev team reads this, including Yoshi P, congratulations your 4.5-5 month time span between patches going from 2.5-3 months is the worst thing you ever did. Literally double the time to wait between patches and for two weeks max of any content. Deliveries do not count, I can hit my macro and complete that shit in 5 minutes (or manually do it if I’m feeling rather spicy).
I skipped 7.1 cause I’d rather buy Dyson Sphere Program than another month of garbage, so I did just that. People say the raids and dungeons are the best they’ve ever been, but imo they’re just easier to digest than ever before.
If the game can’t give us quality of life changes, the mods will. I could live without clothes mods but I’m too used to my “comfortable” game mods that just make game so much better such as marketboard mod or messenger mod. They’re very small mods yet they change so much with so little.
The only game to rival skyrim's modding degeneracy.
I pay my sub only because I can use mods. So I don't know how they loose money 😀
this vid is really well put together . keep up the good work
you will never convince me that ff14 players are not the most entitled and narcissistic personalities that exist with slop like this.
The reason that they probably won't do anything to mods as in publicly, is because they know they would loose that much of the player base from the game.
Ok, knowing that there's a mod that allows people to have potentially saved my character for their own use to do…..whatever…..both creeps me out and makes me ultra sad and angry. That is some serious nasty and creepy shit. I really love my WoL and I don't like that such a thing exists.
if someone needs mods to do ex/savage and general harder content, its just because they arent good at the game and need a Band-Aid rather than actually getting better.
i understand if some people have some type of impairments that make it harder for them but just stick with what you can handle mod free in those cases.
glam mods are w/e
