  1. The "I quit for FF" really only started with 9.1 when the game had it's darkest hour. I've never seen a single mention of FF before that especially at a new launch of an xpac where everyone is just doing their own thing. In fact, most would agree the first months of launch and the last 3 months at the end of an xpac are the best and most fun times to play. Launch because it's fun regardless and last patch because that's regarded as "the game is finally playable" patch.

Complaints only start rolling when we are 3-4 months in since then the issues start being apparent and people are the point of taking a break anyway. Some would use the word quit but then come back anyway they just don't like to admit it, also been like that since Cata or so.

And for the people who really have a big hate boner for WoW, I think you'll be shocked at how big the launch will be. WoW players are known to shit on their own game yet play it anyway, some do it out of passion, others are just addicted but like I said earlier, can't admit that.

  2. just 2 days ago i saw another video still milking this "15 years of WoW vs 5 seconds of final fantasy 14 I LOVE FF14!" trend. and it had way more views than the creator's average video. people still eating up this dumb fad are goofy

if you're curious, the video was by "Large Lad Charles" and he has 400 subscribers (probably 25% of that before this video). his average video has <100 views. his "i quit ff14 for WoW" clickbait circlejerk video has 63,000 views

  3. What if FFXIV went horizontal progression after lvl 100? Keep it on rails as it is till lvl 100 and then branch off into different equipment with different / more in depth effects for more dynamic character building. I feel like that would be a super interesting change and address a significant problem with its gear system (while still actually retaining the system until post 100).

  4. As you noted earlier, people will hop on / become part of trends because they know it will get buzz or views. The WoW "exodus" happened at the one few month period of last year and everyone was making videos "Why I quit WoW for FF14" etc. the craziest part is that when someone else makes the opposing view, they are "wrong" or "copium" notably informed by the coined FF14 Defense Force. I play both games and see the flaws in both games but it's way more apparent that WoW players criticize the game more than FF players do and as you have been doing in your recent vids, you get hate for it – but all good things need criticism to become better. I personally prefer WoW over FF due to the gameplay and content type but have friends who prefer FF. It's crazy to see just how many people want to absolutely destroy the image of WoW either while playing it or being someone who swapped to FF during the lawsuit. The point I am always the most surprised by is the toxicity thing – both games can be toxic, that is the nature of online environments and something I dislike is the overwhelming amount of fake feeling utopia-ness that some FF players have, not all but some. Everything is perfect there is nothing to be criticized or disliked. The youtuber "NoblePlays" made a good video about it

  5. 14 has completely won me over. I don't think I can go back to wow even casually. I love demon hunter and warlock classes but there are too many issues with the game for me to continue.

  6. I really feel for wow players who keep coming back and then don't have a good time until it gets so bad that they finally quit. I left during cataclysm and have seen so many games I like more and nothing really ever pulling me back. That said, I really hope everyone who is excited for dragonflight gets what they are looking for. If not, let's welcome them back into FFXIV with open arms.

  7. Alright let's talk about it.

So, for far too long the top end has dictated how the casual audience has to play. Alot of the barriers that exist currently are for players like me who will run 20 m+ dungeons a week on multiple characters. Real degenerative gameplay.

With them removing borrowed power outside of teir gear, balance(the most controversial word in WoW next to systems) will be easier. Which makes players like me happy.

They are also beefing up the world. I think this is going to be one of the largest expansions launched by size. Hopefully they fill in that area with fun stuff.

Build a dragon. Well the third most controversial thing in WoW. Flying. Every expansion we go through months of grinding to float in the air to afk. Now they are doing something interesting with flight. You build a dragon and off you go.

Now, I do not think WoW is saved but they are really headed down the right path in years. I don't need perfect but can I get a Stormblood?

  8. “Guys I’m not doing this for a trend”
“Anyway here’s why I quit game that doesn’t even exist yet to play game that I have in my YouTube channel name”
Not a trend tho., WoW just bad.

  9. I'll answer your question that was here @ 8:48. The problems that plague WoW is deeper than what one might think. As I've done a video almost a year ago on me doing the opposite than what other people coming from WoW did as content. I decided to take a look at WoW as an outsider, from the game people were running to. The whole ordeal is quite damning if you come from another MMO. The ecosystem is sustained by the hardcore be they Raids, Mythics or grinding content. There's definitely a great game hidden underneath but as a person who picked it up hoping to see what was wrong, I hit the wall that was the new player experience before hitting the problematic endgame and even THAT has a ton of problems. The endgame has plenty of things wrong with it and I hope they do address them in Dragonflight. but they shouldn't forget the rest of the game. Primarily the new player experience, the midway story telling (Non-existent), the casual experience AND the journey up to the endgame. WoW should evolve much like continuous games should. FFXIV, Guild Wars 2 and admittedly Destiny did. I'm even sure New World will change after a couple years. It just depends on if the devs can spot the changes WoW most certainly needs at this point.

  10. If you put Dragonflight on the video title, I'd suggest doing some background work investigation first.
This next expansion will remove most of the borrowed power systems that there usually is (at least according to what we know so far).
Also, as mentioned in another comment, it would be nice if you avoid the clickbait title, when we all know the expansion isn't out yet…
I understand the need for views and to grab our attention, but having informative videos is much better, than just this discussion on what doesn't seem to be a subject (yet?).
On a final note: for someone who said that the MMO tribalism was really bad to the genre and likes to invite new players into the genre as a whole… The title seemed to heavy inclined to dismiss a new expansion, when we're a few months away from a release.

As a final note: Just to make it clear I left wow a few years ago and have been playing FFXIV lately, which I like a lot. Nevertheless, I think we should strive for positivism on the genre instead of this type of videos… Isn't that what you stood out for after all Brian?

No ill will intended, but once again, just hope to see better videos than this one. Cheers!

  11. Ugh, this hits home. I resubbed to WoW recently. Logged on, ran around having forgotten how to play, tried to figure out what I need to do… Went to Stormwind and listened to the music. Felt happy. Then felt lost and I started to remember why I left a year back.

I might return for Pre-Patch and the first patch.
I am having so much fun with FFXIV 6.2 right now. Enjoying so much. Basically I wasted money buying DF and a sub. I just love it deep down as i played it as a young man and now i am 40. It is like a bad ex that I still have feelings for.

  12. I agree and disagree with you. For me, an MMO is about an investment and it is why I only play MMOs now. I am tired of games I play and invest time into for it to be forgotten (Minus the achievements). I love that stuff I did in WoW I can still see or use. Sadly I am almost done with it but I do love that stuff I once did. Like an old man looking at his war medals or news stories.
Hopefully I get that from FFXIV but we will see.
