  1. The FF14 we have today was re-released back in 2013, and has been going strong ever since. If you enjoy MMOs–or you wanna try one out–I HIGHLY recommend this one. Thankfully, as another meme goes, you can play it for free up to level 70 soon enough, with no restriction on playtime.

  2. I highly rrecommend final fantasy in general. not every game hits but the oens thata re good are VERY good. I suggest looking up some of the cutscenes from FF7, FF8, FF9 or FFX or some bosss fights (Namely the final boss of FF6 as an example) if you're into that kinda thing of course.

  3. Oooooh boy! What you just watched was what all players watched after the servers died. Then they were eternally added to the credits.

And yes. The meteor was a moon. Named Dalamud after the faithful wolf companion of the moon goddess, Minphina. And also yes. They wiped the old game almost entirely. New worldmap, new jobs, new damn near everything

To explain how he was able to kill the dragon after the sealing failed. All of the Aether from the failed sealing didn't dissipate. It responded to the wishes of the people, to be saved, to have the world rise from the ashes. And the old man, Louisoix, using his special staff that had shattered but still coalescing mana, resonated with it. The strong wishes to for the world to be reborn made him be reborn himself and rise as the Primal Phoenix. With that mighty swell of power he shattered Bahamut and the Aether that showered down onto the land rebirthed it from the ashes. (in lore reason why so much is different)

    A Realm Reborn.

  5. So a quick explanation, so SPOILERS ahead. This is the complete cutscene that plays after you kill a big boss 60+ hours into the game. You see nobody remember how the dragon, Bahamuth, was destroyed. Its one of the mysteries of what happened that day.

As for how elf Gandalf was able to defeat the dragon, in the world of FF14 faith and prayer have a tangible effect. They can create Primals, living gods brought by desire and faith. They are bound by said desire, so in a way they are more of a constructs. Bahamuth is one such Primal, born out of the suffering and desire of revenge of hundreds of thousands enslaved and tortured dragons. He is driven mad long ago.

Elf Gandalf became Primal, if only for a little bit, by accepting the prayers and desire for salvation of the whole world.

But Primals are bad news because just by existing they syphon the life force of the world around them. Elf Gandalf is actually part of an organisation that hunts Primals to preserve the world. Thats why he died just after destroying the dragon. Even if he meant well, his very existence would doom the world, so he lets go of his power and returns it to the world. Those are the white snow like flakes raining from the sky. And thats why the new version of the game was called A Realm Reborn.

Also he indeed teleported the player characters 5 years into the future to protect them, but nobody can remember them, so both new and returning players start with a clean slate.

  6. Definitely recommend it cause the story is amazing and you can make a character look almost like your Vtuber model if you wanted to. And I heard recently that the game is free to play up to level 70 which is base game and 2 expansions

  7. Your should actually consider watching the Noclip FF14 documentary on what happened and how they remade the game. Its an amazing story, even for people who dont play the game.

  8. If you were to ever play that game, you'd probably melt into a puddle on the floor every couple of videos. They do tear jerking really well. Just hearing this song (which is called "Answers" by the way) is enough to wet my eyes, if I'm not actively fighting against it.

Only the early part was shown at the server shutdown. Anything a couple of seconds after the old elf teleports the other away is only shown when you do the Coils of Bahamut raids in the game. How Bahamut disappeared, is a big mystery for the early parts of the game.

Also this Bahamut isn't just a Dragon. It's a Dragon shaped Primal, so more or less a Dragon God, and the size of a city. That's no perspective tricking, he's really that massive.

Should you decide to pick it up, I recommend going with the Japanese audio, at least until you get into Heaven's Ward. The early English voice acting is…not the greatest. Meanwhile for the original Japanese, they hired professional anime voice actors from the very start and you might even hear a couple of familiar voices among them.

  9. Highly recommend checking out the other trailers for the expansions, esp. the latest two, Shadowbringers and Endwalker. CBUIII really stepped up their game with these cinematics.

  10. I was not paying attention to the game at the start, but just hearing about the reboot story and player moments like the Great Goobue Wall, I can't help but tear up every time I watch this. The song doesn't help it's so damn emotional.

  11. You should watch and react a really good documentry video about this game that talks about 1.0 and onward. it has several parts and explain how they go to that cinamtic before they closed the servers down for 2.0

  12. That moon first started out as a tiny red star in the night sky, as the game (version 1.0) got closer to the date they announced the servers would get shut down permanently, the star kept growing bigger and bigger, eventually being more clear to see during the day. The night they shut down the star was as big as the moon and the game came to an end. The new producer Yoshida (Yoshi-p) released 2.0 with all new battle systems and assets. The warriors who were teleported 5 years in the future are the warriors of light (representations of your character you create). So it’s your character that gets teleported to the future in that battle. The affects of the time warp however erased the memory of your existence from everyone who survived that night and also yourself. All of 1.0 is still a strong part of the fundamental lore of the game, but no one remembers who you are and what you did before Bahamut. They remember your exploits and deeds, but they don’t remember it was you. Anytime in the early game they speak of the warriors of light they are referring to your characters actions from the now unplayable 1.0. Also the free trial for the game now extends to the base game and the first expansion. Soon the second expansion will also be a part of the free trial.

  13. Hey Alicia! If you're still looking for suggestions for indie games I highly recommend "Cassette Beasts". It's not too long and you should be able to finish it in 2 streams (it has customizable difficulty as well so don't worry about getting stuck). If you think its too long/don't want to play it then It'd still be great to check out the OST!

  14. 9:11 Bro actually did have faith. He was able to power up because of energy that was still around for the failed sealing spell, the prayers of the characters, and the prayers of the players. They were praying that even after all this destruction that something would survive and that there would be a new beginning. Hence why the base game is called "A Realm Reborn."

  15. I was wondering how long it'd take for the XIV people to get to you. And here. We. Are. 🙂
EDIT: "Is that a whole-ass moon or something!?" Every FFXIV Player: <cackles> "yes."
EDIT2: You should watch the NoClip Documentary :v

  16. What was cool was that in the final few months or so of service for FFXIV 1.0, this "moon" in the skybox got larger and larger with each mini-update. If a player logged off by going to sleep in an inn, when they logged back on they would get a cutscene of their character having a strange dream; iirc if you saw a certain number of them before the end of service, you got a special item. There was also a series of quests that led to trying to stop the people pulling this moon down. Obviously the PC fails and this is the result.

Btw, if you were a player with an active account for at least three months before they shut off the servers, THIS is your Legacy Character's backstory. You get a slightly different start and different cutscenes than a new player in A Realm Reborn. You got a special tattoo and a special chocobo mount. If you got the Goobbue mount in 1.0 it is visually different from the one ARR players would get. You got other special perks, and your name (or your character's name) appears in the "Special Thanks" section of ARR's credits.

"Bro really has faith like that." Literally.
