  1. Quick correction on Promathia lore: The notion that Promathia directly cursed humanity or that Promathia is trying to destroy humanity for their sins is a misunderstanding of the religions of the Elvaan. The enlightened races came about as a result of Promathia's death.

The threat of the Emptiness endangered Promathia and Altana before the creation of Vana'diel. Promathia decided to take the Emptiness into himself and sacrifice himself to save Altana and the world. Altana could not deal with the loss of her beloved, so she split the Great Crystal, spilling it's light into Promathia. The breaking of the Great Crystal resulted in the destruction of the world of the gods and the creation of Vana'diel. The Crystal's light and the Emptiness in Promathia's corpse resulted in a new form of life: the Zilart, Kuluu, and eventually all Vana'diel life.

The remnant of Promathia in Chains of Promathia still carries the god's original will: to take up all of the Emptiness and himself to save Altana and the world. But to take up all the emptiness into himself means the destruction of Vana'diel's life, because all life contains a fragment of the Emptiness. This pits Promathia's fragment against Vana'diel, or "the beloved of Altana against the children of Altana."

There is something poetic and tragic about Promathia's story. Please Square, just give us a remake already!

  2. Some people will probably groan at this cause they just want to unlock the raids but I'm really hoping they have more quests to explain FF11 story stuff during the patches we don't get a new alliance raid. Not everyone enjoyed getting more Nier stuff when they did that in one of the off patches and for people coming in later that don't care about Nier it just made it take that much longer to unlock the next raid. The solution I would have to that is to still have the extra quests but not require them for the raid unlock, similar to the little bit of insight we got into Golbez and the Four Fiends during Endwalker with the Hectaeye quests.

  3. Can't wait to get into this alliance raid, which means I have to help the Hanuhanu with their festival. XD

There was a Shantoto paraphrase reference in the Black Mage Stormblood quests where the registrar of the Thamaturge's Guild gets possessed by the spirit of Shattoto, a Mhachi Black Mage.

  4. Prishe is definitely my favourite FFXI character, although I would love to see Lion back too. I have never been able to deal with what happened at the end of Rise of the Zilart T.T

  5. I wonder if we’re actually going to fight Promathia in this Alliance set. I do also hope they tease places like Al’Taieu and the Aerns come back as well. I’m excited for Jeuno though

  6. was it confirmed that jeuno was the first raid zone? It might be a pseudo hub zone like what we had with the last alliance raid where you had the little zone that held the entrances to the actual raids.

  7. Huh, so this crossover will be a 14 adaptation of 11. I thought they will bridged the world of 11 to 14 since we did have a small crossover with Shantoto and Iroha from 11.

  8. I do like her, and yea I finished Chains of Promathia last month as I am doing all the missions I kept on pause since… 2009, so her own story is still fresh in my mind.

I just hope a certain annoying kitten does not try to take all of the oxygen like she did for poor Kryle…
(also here hoping Shantotto and her stupid rich girl laugh will not appear again)

  9. If Prishe starts off being unsure of herself only to grow bolder and more confident over time, I could see that happening as a result of her interactions with our respective Warriors of Light, where we perhaps take on a sort of "mentor" role for her (similar to how we became a mentor and role model of sorts for Ryne back in Shadowbringers), and it's our resolve and refusal to back down no matter the odds that inspires Prishe herself to become her more confident and reckless self.
