Ultima Thule Theme 2 "Close in the Distance (Instrumental)" – FFXIV OST

I love the Ea. Not only are they smart enough to have discovered the true end of the universe, they’re also cute as heck. I strive to become an Ea someday.

  1. They knew how it was going to end…but with all their knowledge, they couldn't have come up with some kind of contingent for their kind in the massive amount of time they still had? Even the brightest have their flaws.

  2. When I got to Ultima Thule it kinda dawned on me…outside Ethyris, the universe kind of dead; there's some implications that some of the worlds Matieon mentions are still out there but in their slow decline to oblivion but even with what she does in the ending its going to take millions of years for new life to replace what had been lost before.

Endwalker was seriously depressing at times. XD

  3. I think I read that in ancient Greek cartography, they named the northern-most island they knew of "Thule." So naming the end of the universe "Ultima Thule"is pretty dang clever, if you ask me. I just hope we get to name that restaurant "Milliways."

  4. It's interesting to see all three races reasons for wanting to die because they're all very much akin to those we'd have irl
In current year, the message about not giving up despite uncertain futures and any loses that we've faced is especially powerful. I can only imagine how it must've felt for those who'd lost loved ones during the epidemic

  5. Whispers, falling silently drift on the wind,
    But I hear you.
Our journey, now a memory fading from sight,
    But I see you.
Unbroken promises we made so long ago.
    You're still here.

Unspoken requiem for a river of tears
Flowing, winding, to one eternal sea,
    And yet, our hope remains,
    Guiding, lighting the way.

    No time, for morning rises
On the mem'ry born from the ashes
    with the heavens to sunset.
Blood red skies tranquil after the storm.

    Blesséd shadow
Turning, wending, always night follows day
    The sun will shine again.
    Walk on, never look back.
    Through you, we live.

Tales of loss and fire and faith,
    Every word our hearts engraved.
In the dark, you will not stray.
Forge ahead 'til the end, we pray.

  6. What a moment this was. Estinien’s wind clearing the skies for us, revealing our path. The music becoming clearer, and more complete. We were progressing. Moving forward, despite learning the tragic reality what it takes to move forward. The essential theme of Endwalker is carrying on despite sorrow and pain, and this track exemplifies that theme beautifully.

  7. As soon as Estinien sacrificed himself and this theme took over, I knew exactly what was happening and started crying. I don't think I stopped all the way through the end lol

  8. Everyone knows about the popular theory that we are not alone in the universe. I personally always found this comforting, rather than frightening.

In Endwalker though, the opposite is true. We are the only ones left in the whole universe. This theory has always been terrifying to me. In real life circumstances, it makes you wander; why are these the only life? Are we as Meteion says, unnatural? Did something happen to everyone else in the universe?
The theory that we are the last / only planet capable of life is truly terrifying to me. Glad that Endwalker was somehow able to find a way to use that rather unnecessary fear lol.
