  1. At this point, I really don't care as a long time 2.0 player w/ over 10K Hrs.

Any new jobs I'll be very excited for 🙂

But if there is ONE job I would love to see…it would be Beastmaster –

Just so we can see Pagaga Vochstein again ❤❤❤❤

  2. I could totally see Songstress having a unique job gauge and ability effects where it works like Hunting Horn used to work in Monster Hunter (before Rise). Each ability having a specific "musical note" that it generates, and you can build up a "song" of 3-5 notes, then press a "performance" finisher button to sing that song and apply the effects based on what notes you lined up.
Geomancer would be really cool, since the Astrologian job quests in Stormblood clearly made Geomancers out to be separate and distinct, yet linked and complementary to Astro. I could imagine them as more of a support-y magical dps job, kinda like how Bard is a more support-y ranged physical dps.
A dedicated DoT job would be really nice, especially since they've been removing DoTs from a lot of the other jobs where they weren't really needed. The main comparison I can draw here is Affliction Warlock in WoW. (I know I keep making comparisons to WoW, but that's just because I grew up playing WoW and only switched to FFXIV early last year; it's amazing how much better FFXIV is and I feel bad for having been so blindly addicted to WoW only.)
Beastmaster and Whips sounds really neat. Whips are among my top favorite fantasy weapons, up there with scythes and other weird weapons.
Gambler is one of my favorite ones here. Fighting with dice, playing cards, and that kind of stuff is always cool. Marvel's Gambit and League of Legends' Twisted Fate are good examples of fighting gamblers to draw inspiration from. Tying the job quests into the Mandervilles is also a great idea, they're always fun to interact with, and being able to explore more of their and the Gold Saucer's lore would be great.
Magic tank and Dodge tank are both ideas I'd love to see. I've always wished that WoW would add a dodge tank spec to Rogues, and a tank spec to Warlocks (which they sort of did in Mists of Pandarea, but then removed it entirely the next expansion), just to have some more variety than just "big person in big plate armor with two-handed sword and/or a shield is tank, nobody else." FFXIV managed to get a little away from that with Gunbreaker having only a one-handed weapon and no shield, but I'd like to see these options added as well, and you can never go wrong adding more tank and healer jobs.

  3. I can imagine Blitzballer's style will play out like Monk and Dancer. Even if it's not going to be called Blitzballer, I would like to see an athlete job that utilizes a ball and have each attack be based on different types of sport like volleyball and tennis. In addition, having a ball as a weapon might be the most simple weapon to design for the developers and opens up for a lot of sphere-like object that is designed for the weapon. Imagine seeing a small planet or star being thrown or kicked in one of the attacks.

  4. Given how beastmaster is all about collecting beasts, i can only see it as a limited job like BLU mage and how it acquires spells.

I think a dot class is just FREE design space since at most jobs have 1 dot only

  5. For the necromancer, the voidsent you would summon have a default form, but you can "glamour" them to take on the appearance of any/select minions you have collected (kinda how the whole voidsent summoning thing works anyways). Assuming one active pet at a time I would be going into battle with Wind-up Omega.

  6. Necromancy was made to be a huge deal during the Alchemist quest… not saying it can't happen, but it'd be so awkward, particularly if F'lhaminn ever finds out that the WoL became one…

  7. I very badly want something like Geomancer and/or FFTA2’s Green Mage, probably both as more support-themed casters but I think it could be SUPER interesting if they could pull off a casting tank. I understand Paladin kind of fills that niche now but it doesn’t really fully commit.

  8. Maybe the Beastmaster should be a Blue Mage style Limited Job. That way, you can go absolutely nuts and not worry too much about raid balance.

Also, Gambler's Limit Break sounds like it would be like Tifa's slot-machine-based Limit Break.

  9. My gust of wind take from these classes,

    Songstress: Lion's Roar XD
Chemist: **Based on FF lore, it can be both DMG and Heal at the same time since it uses all sorts of ingredients**
Geomancer: ***Another class that is introduced in older FF series, one of the classes that is HARD to master but it can be as OP as BLM + the actual battle-field perks like if water or fire or etc"
Necromancer: This would be interesting class to put into FFXIV MMO, because its such a big scope of a class…. not sure how it will play out, could be great contender!!!
Blitzball Player: Would be a fun class to ever be played and considered hahaha
Mesmer: 'no comment'…. yet… only if Yoshi-P intend to push more attention towards the current pvp current
Beastmaster: ***One of the underrated class from Tactics Ogre, there's something there.. not sure how this will play out… still within Square Soft / Enix
Gambler: Setzer was the OG lol, but seeing a class comes out from Gold Saucer is definitely something fun to anticipate if it happens (and there's a good chance for this to happen)
Back in FFVI, the main fun of this class was the RNG Slot machine type of match 3 picture! This class would be likely to be introduced if they are trying out something new
    Corsairs: Hmmm… very interesting…

  10. Some interesting ideas here. I worry that some of them, such as Necro, Geo, and Songstress, are too similar thematically to some jobs that already exist in the game. I remember Yoshi-P saying something to the effect of wanting to create jobs that are very distinct in their identities and gameplay, and I honestly don't think they would go for some of the wackier job ideas like BB Player. Gambler would be cool as hell if they could make it work. Chemist might be possible… they could call it Salvemaker or Apothecary to make it disctinct from the Alchemist.

Personally I would love to see the Green Mage reimagined for FFXIV. It could possibly be our new DOT user if they ever wanted to bring back a DOT heavy job, with some support and de-buff magic thrown in as well. In FFA2, the Green Mage wields hammers and maces. I would LOVE a hammer wielding job, and a new mage that uses hammers would be an interesting take, if not a hammer wielding tank.

Other idea for a DPS or even a tank job: double-sided sword user, with some casting ability, inspiration being Zidane and his Dyne ability from FFIX. This could be the Rune Fencer that many fans have been asking for, and would be my preferred pick for the new job that uses Scouting gear. Of course this job would need to be disctinct from the sword wielding casters we already have in the game. If they wanted to go more heavily into swordplay and agility based skills, it could be a Duelist type identity like that of Stranger of Paradise.

  11. A Gambler IMO could be a great limited job, using MGPs for all abilities.
Also have some long CDs to to gain MGP based on how much you spent, otherwise it would just be frustrating.

  12. Songstress should be guitar hero a la final fantasy. Just combos the entire time. If they want to get really crazy. The hot bar combos follow the battle music, and that means there would be a different way to play in each duty.

  13. If they do songstress, they should get Minfilia ‘s adoptive mother to be the one who starts that job quest .

Personally, I want a Gunmage job class. Magical ranged DPS. Shoot spell Bullets. Certain combinations of spell bullets triggers new spells to appear. Kinda like Monk.

  14. My sole true wish right now is a geomancer to pair with black mage
White mage has more or less put its element attacks behind itself in favor of unaspected (not to say it has none, but we never got to see the classic FF spells like flood/tornado/quake)
With geomancer having story roots in conjury (THIS DOES NOT MEAN A BRANCHING JOB) as well as invoking barriers like nocturnal AST once did:
Imagine a geomancer caster wielding earth, water, and wind like BLM does, all damage little support
It would also complete a caster-based elemental wheel

  15. I was really looking forward to necromancer/warlock by now. ShadowBringer kept hinting toward necromancy and even one of the bosses was a Necromancer hero. Was kinda surprise they evaded that job entirely in Endwalker. Plus it would be the perfect for a dot management class. Poisoning, draining their souls, corrupting them with magic. Sounds like it makes sense.

  16. I like most of the suggestions. I haven't checked the comments to see if someone's already noted this, but one of the things that each candidate will need to do is to distinguish itself from the other jobs, as the devs do want to avoid too much overlap or shared flavor (regardless of how some healers and tanks tend to end up feeling a bit homogenous.)

Songstress – for a combat job, if it fills a party buff roll, it will need to do something so it doesn't overlap with Bard. Based on the RP suggestions, you could have songstress combo off Bard songs so they work together rather than conflict. I think this also has an opportunity to take advantage of how musically-inclined the game is in general – the notes you need to hit could be based off the BGM combo'd with Bard modifications.

Chemist – I want to see this. The hurdle with Mixology is that most suggestions end up looking a lot like Ninja mudra.

Geomancer/Taoist – the biggest issue here is probably that geomancer is established as a sister school to Astrology in FF14, one that looks a lot like Conjury for White Mages. My personal hope for it is to give it similar treatment as Tactics by rewarding the player for strategically choosing which ground to stand on, but that could be a problem for Savage-level dance fights. Related, maybe there could be some play off Tactics' Oracle or Mediator jobs, or introduce Green Magic to 14. I'm surprised Time Mage didn't get more play – with AST having dropped most of it, it's got a chance.

Necromancer – the pet issues were addressed in video. I don't see a problem from lore, they actually reference the possibility in certain places even in 14

Blitzball Player – this is probably the easiest job to justify, barring any issues coming up with ways to distinguish it from Dancer's thrown weapons. I could see them having the ball exist as a sort of pet entity so the player needs to move around the field to 'fetch' their ball and keep it going at the target.

Mesmer – similar to the pet issues, the devs design doesn't work as well for DoTs so this is more on them to work that out. It's underutilized for sure.

Magical Tank – this is another one with strong possibility. Functionally it could work like any other tank, just using classic elements rather than dark or holy ones. I like the elemental shields idea, and the weapon attacks would probably be a similar one. There is a history of 'knight' type jobs that enhance their weapon with Fire/Thunder/Blizzard to do elemental melee attacks.

Beastmaster – i've heard this has been given some looks as a limited job in the vein of blue mage. Being a pet job will give it the same problems to overcome as necromancer or old summoner. The whip mechanics could be interesting though, as a medium-ranged melee job, one that falls in between the range of normal melee and actual ranged jobs.

Gambler – the main overlap to watch out for is the AST cards, but several problem points have already been removed from AST by now. The slots idea has some history in other FF games. It doesn't have to be an actual machine so much as a 'luck gauge' that occasionally gives you buffs or other bonuses randomly. See Crisis Core, which I think also corrected itself if you kept having bad 'rolls'.

Corsair – the main comment I have for this is that it may be hard for devs to balance their fights for an evasion tank. On one hand, taking 0 damage from big attacks would make them very strong compared to other tanks, but then you have the problem of their armor on normal attacks – it may be difficult for healers if they can't predict when the tank fails to dodge a few times in a row and just falls over. It's doable, but may require devs to rethink how they design tank damage in fights going forward.

  17. I think a Chemist/Alchemist would be a cool healer or physical ranged. I'd really like if it was a healer with some decent mobility, kind of like a healing DNC

  18. Most of these sound too random to be a regular job but would fit as a limited job.

The idea of a magical tank has been in the FF series before with the Green Mage. It's a tanking mage with a mace and they usually deal in magical debuffs.

  19. I think as a magic tank, the concept of a "mage fist" could work pretty well. The weapons could be something along the lines of "focus bracers", bracers charged with magical energy allowing the wielder to deflect incoming blows with a wall of magic. The animations could even be an exaggerated rope-a-dope boxing style with the arms in close to the body with aether-charged planted-feet punches mixed in with spell-casts creating magical runes around the player character. The over-all aesthetic could be a robed sorcerer with a pair of wrist-mounted magical foci.

  20. I want a full on dot class. The Necromancer class that was in Rift would fit this well. That class on there had about 8 or 9 dots. It was a awesome class to play.
