  1. In Heavensward, I played the majority of it as a dragoon. Fighting dragons, it felt fitting, no? Then The Vault happened. And from then on until this trial, I switched to dark knight. And lemme tell ya, the cutscene as Thordan lays on the ground, while he screams "What ARE you?!" as he stares at you in horror? The vibes of that scene while wearing a pitch black edgy as hell suit of armor and a giant sword was immaculate.

  2. The reason why Thordan was able to kill Lahabrea was because he turned himself into a primal. As shown with the sahagain chieftain when he got killed by Leviathan, since primals eat aether they can just slurp up Ascians whole. It would also mean a WoL wielding Zantetsuken would be the ultimate anti-Ascian fighter, since Odin's sword itself is the primal, and the WoL would be immune to its tempering. Too bad that while we can get it as a glamour item that canonically the sword goes missing after you complete Odin's sidequest chain in ARR.

  3. i would love for the devs to go back to some of these trial fights and adjust the HP values for bosses like this

thordan could use 2x or maybe even 3x the health. and start the intermission phase a bit sooner

  4. I didn't realize until I was well past this that they're all supposed to be the Knights of the Round from FF7, which of course all represent the Knights of the Round Table (the costumes of the empowered Heavens Ward all look like the FF7 summons – Thordan being the stand-in for Arthur, of course). Ascalon being Thordan's sword is a legendary sword (or sometimes a lance) wielded by St. George.

  5. There is nothing so satisfying as watching King Thordan flailing and screaming as you destroy him after he brings his full power to bear. We're the Warrior of motherf**king LIGHT, bitch!
