  1. always sad to see how much complexity(tedium) this game has lost over the years. sure we've gained a much better and more consistent experience but it was at the cost of the chaos.

anyway, i still can't believe how neglected smn feels in dawntrail. like it or not, endwalker set up a pretty solid foundation and i was totally expecting some crazy stuff to be added. poor poor me

  2. And I love this SMN more than current SMN. sorry not sorry. latest SMN is so boring, I can macro everything in a single button, buy a keyboard that has a turbo function of older game controllers and just place a mug over that button and just watch the game play itself.

  3. I feel like they have removed the dot job and pet job identity to give it to new jobs in the future.
But whilst the class plays 10x smoother than it used to, it does suck its lost its unique identify

  4. When i first started i tried arcanist as my first class cause i thought it would be a class where you summoned guys to do your bidding (pet job) but then i realized that all the "summons" were just glorified spells i switched to white mage and never looked back. Scholar is more of a pet job in my eyes and even then its very limited

  5. Yes, in deed, the Endwalker summoner is a different class… but it's a lackluster class one and Dawntrail didn't solve that issue. And that's why, i'm player Pictomancer now.

  6. There is a lot of stuff you can criticize about "new Summoner", but as someone who mained Summoner in Shadowbringers I could barely believe seeing all the "but Summoner was perfeeeeect!" comments when Endwalker dropped. Yeah, it was very different and left a bit of a void for a niche of a complex mobile caster, but come on, these guys complaining about new Summoner were memeing about how broken this job was just two weeks earlier. How Titan has no actual use in most content, how your summons were wasting time on walking instead of attacking, how Carbys standard AOE attack could get you in trouble because suddenly a lot more enemies were interested in you than you intended in the overworld (looking at you, ARR crate arcanist quest), how absurdly long its 5.0 rotation was… I felt like these complainers and I haven't played the same game before.
Would be nice to have a dot again though.

(Thankfully now we have picto who sort of fills this niche by stealing all the best things from all other casters including WHM, so these guys can stop complaining about this horrible broken mess that was old summoner… 😀 I really would like to have Bane for Bard though. My character knew how to spread dots at some point, why can't I just do it on another job?)

  7. It's plainly obvious to me that the devs don't want dots anymore as a central mechanic, but I think getting a themed dot for each lego that lasts a minute and a half would have been a nice olive branch.

And if we do that, we cam get rid of Energy Drain, which feels like a sad vestigal skin flap with the Endwalker rework that is only there for the two minute burst. Have a burst that resets the 3 lego dots instead.

  8. I hated Summoner back in day until they actually became a real Summoner class. Aside from summoning a pet eikon, your role was just upkeeping DoTs. Furthermore when doing world bosses, due to a Debuff limit, your DoTs may not even go through. Immersion-wise, it feels better now but is it a better class overall compared to being a DoT bot, I digress.
