I do not mind the current gearing system, I'm not really a hard core raider but I can see how the solutions you give help out both parties that being the casual side and hardcore side. It also would help ease the grinding abit
hope this video been heard
they do both cut the price and double your weekly cap….at the last 4 months or so of the expansion
Couldn't agree more! One of the games core features is the ability to play literally anything at a mouse click. And right now it is just not feasible to have more then two geared jobs. It takes months to gear one job and that doesn't count not being present every week due to life.
I also play a lot of other jobs and it's, hmm which to get gear for first , limiting the amount of tokens a week has always been annoying, why do they do that? it's not like you aren't working for them, once you're maxed for the week it's pointless to play at 90, most do hunts and get them the first day , then theyre all just standing around in Limsa glammed up and dancing lol not actually doing any content so unless you're raiding and getting that gear what's the point?
I disagree on some points however I 100% agree 24 man gear should be upgradeable
They've had the 450 tomestone cap back in 2.0 when there were half as many jobs as we do now, just let that sink in
I was super hyped to try savage but then learned about the limit on the amount of gear you can get and it killed all my motivation. Still haven't tried it because the limits suck and it just wastes your time. Not sure if I'll ever get into high end content because of this. Terrible design. Loved the extreme trials though
why do they cap us at 2k tombstones for EVERYTHING still? like it makes no sense.
That top is gorgeous! What is it?!
Sad part is, Sqex doesn’t care at all as long as they can artificially get another month of sub out of us
I cleared week 1, but I dont mind the design, dont wana make it too easy to gear up =p
ok i don't even need to watch this video to even know exactly what comments you're gonna make "gear is too hard to make and the cap shouldn't exist" guys ffs the game isn't made for your to just get BiS in the first week of content cause there's this thing called "pacing" they need time to get the content out so if you can just get BiS you would just sit there be like "where content" well no shit there's no content to do cause you blazed right through it, like just allowing you to get all your gear in one go is a bad thing and only reward hardcore players and punishes player for having a life outside of this game or wanting to do anything other then raid. The game is meant to be enjoyed not to be just rushed through, if you can't enjoy that then sorry clearly this game isn't for you
Edit: ok after watching this over i do agree with alot of the solutions you have thought about but i still don't think we should be able to get BiS in a week that is just way to fast, the fast you should be able to get gear should be a month but even then i still think that's way to quick
I absolutely agree. I feel locked into choosing one class. I could do that in any mmo. I want to actually have options in all content. But by the time I gear a second class it's time for the next tier.
Really lol. So basically you want the gear given to you. You don't know how any of this works. Bravo there's a ton of games you can pay too get geared faster, maybe that's your style
I mean they could set the loot system like is in normal as a good base and work from there. Like in normal if my rolls weren't lucky I can run the floor agian until I get what I want. Now as for books if they are going to keep the high requirement of books then they need to allow to farm the floors for books. I should not have to wait 4,6,7 weeks to get one piece of gear. Plus this make it worse if your still progressing through the whole tier it self because if you weren't the folks that overmeld the 580 crafter gear at the start and chose to wait to get some tomestone gear so that way you can survive the mechanics now your a week behind on getting your books. I can see why some people just drop savage until a future patch unlock the caps but for those who actually want to play and gear up it slow and not fun.
The best solution for tome gear is to remove the weekly tomestone limit.
It gives people a reason to do 90 content outside of savage so that they can gear their jobs, and if they want better gear they can do savage content with subotpimal but at least reasonable gear on multiple jobs. It's more engaging and is useful for both raiders and non-raiders.
Maybe make it so that the limit is still there for the first 4 weeks of a new raid tier release but that's it.
For raid gear, I think it's best to be able to exchange any book for another one you need.
To me, the best way to do it is to have a system where you can exchange 1 high tier book for 1 lower tier one – e.g you exchange one 4th circle book for one 3rd circle book -, and 1 book of a tier + 1 of every book in the tiers below that for 2 books of a tier – e.g you exchange one 4th circle book + one 3rd circle + one 2nd circle + one 1st circle for two 4th circle books –
That way, people will still want to reclear and get gear and whatever, but books are versatile and can be used in different ways to be able to target certain gear pieces that you'd be missing otherwise. For now, books that you don't need are useless but you still get them in reclears.
With the fact most of us play multiple jobs, they need to raise the weekly tomestone cap by a lot. I'm barely finishing gearing BLM and it will be my first fully geared because I was splitting focus between that and SCH and I couldn't play for about a month because of life. And they need to make the catch up gear BiS as well IMO, not everyone plays Savage or has that experience yet so the catch up gear should encourage them to take that next step and actually catch up with the catch up gear. They could just have a different appearance for the people that want clout while giving a different avenue to get BiS.
Personally I think it would make more sense to decrease reward for week 1, slowly increase reward pool by week, basically a catchup mechanism within a patch.
For tomes maybe half the cost of everything then have an unlock cost. For example chests cost 410 tomes to unlock then you can purchase any chest for 410. Also agreed on the 24 man gearing and more coatings, not so much on the other suggestions. I like the time it takes to get you first bis set, just want alts to gear easier.
I'm pretty new and I'm still going to through the MSQ, but I wanna get into difficult content as soon as I can. The gearing system is one of the few gripes I have with this game and it almost put me off of wanting to try savage. I will still give it a go though because I really like challenges. Great vid, keep it up!
More twine drops would be nice, but in addition I don't really see a reason upgrade materials and most current raid gear can't be bought with every book.
Just scale it so like:
Accessory: 4 P1 Books, 3 P2 Books, 2 P3 Book, 1 P4 Book.
As for like Weapon and Chest sure maybe you don't want to make them available unless you cleared the entire tier but on the other hand if they cost like 12 to 16 P1 books and someone still couldn't clear the tier after 3 months just let them have it.
Good suggestions, but personally what I really want is for them to remove penalizing parties for running a raid with someone who's already cleared for the week. At least for a party that is going for a re-clear. I can understand doing this for a prog party, but not for a re-clear one.
The way they have it now basically forces you to play the raid once a week, and only with your static if you have one. If they removed the penalty system for re-clearing groups, you could run the encounters as much as you want without worrying about messing it up for other people.
Lastly, lifting the weekly tome cap after 6-8 weeks would be a great option to help people gear up alts.
The thing that hooked me on this game is leveling multiple jobs and being flexible. Being able to play any kind of job and help them with anything. Getting to endgame the first time and realizing that I can't do that at a high end without a crazy amount of time just made me not engage much with the raid content and focus on leveling until they release catch up gear.
Upgradable gear for alliance would be a good solution, also to keep the content relevant
Eh, I agree with upgrade materials also dropping on floor 4 or maybe 2 instead of 1 on floor 2 – 3. Wouldn't reduce tome stone cost, I feel it goes at a fair phase and keeps a sense of progression as the expansion moves forward. Reducing the cost of tokens, for pants, chest and weapons, sure. For the rest? Nah.
Now this leads to the question, would fast BIS solve a none existent problem or further funnel the problems you mentioned about people wanting high ilvl on party finder "Honestly I never saw this happen?" Week one clearing groups will get bis in 4 weeks lets say, now you got all the people who just wants BiS and then quit til next patch, you got the people who don't care about other roles. So on and so forth. Then you got the groups that sell clears for gil or cash, let's be honest we all know they exist and if WoW is a good example to follow, the more the devs gave free lot the more people became inclined to demand higher ilvl and to the point to start raiding you need to have already cleared via a boost or have a group of friends who want to suffer with you.
I play different roles and have capped every job, my off job "melee dps" is at 495 atm "I am not a week one clear person" so I don't thinks thats too bad. I got enough tokens and extra tomes to gear another role or two to about 590+. So other than say the top 5% at best who care about parsing and speed running, would such changes make any real positive impact to everyone else?
I mean aliance raids are meant to boost you up so you got better chances of finishing the savage content or have a reason to keep progressing if you are not a raider. And most important of all, they bring Glam. So I guess I see no real need for such drastic changes although some changes are needed for weapons and chest, pants.
What I would suggest is, just unlock the raids earlier? Maybe?
You can clear everything right now with 580. Where is the problem?
true, EW was my first time being on-par with a current expansion, I took one look at the timegating and the grind to get BiS gear, remembered that it's all going to be completely obsolete in half a year anyway, and went "yeah nah I'll play something else instead"
Should post in official forum and reddit as well for this if wanna get some form of heard, especially reddit/forum where the se representative can look into it.
On tome 2000 limit is really not an issue really, by the time 2nd tier drop i already have all job gears already, fending, healing, casting, scouting, striking, maiming, aiming
This is me with casual run weekly only.
I clear week 4, and still able to do so for pandaemonium
So far already BiS 2 role atleast with 3rd one by next week.
But seriously all BiS of each tier be useless on 2nd and 3rd tier, the only matter really is 3rd tier because you can cary forward those gears to next expansion.
I think they can help people with alt jobs is to let the clear gating be per job, not per character. So if you run it with Gunbreaker, it still has the week lock out but playing Astro still let's you gear up. This would let FF keep the current grind, but let's people with alts actually gear them up.
Final Fantasy has a unique edge in letting players play each class with one character. I think this grind forcing the character to then pick one or two actual classes actively conflicts with that unique and fun advantage.
This sounds like nitpickery… If you don't want to take that time, get Classical Gear, 580 crafted.
I can live with a lot of the limitations, but what really frustrates me is the fact that the game just doesn't want you playing with friends in savage raids. You raid with your group (or PF, god help you) and that's it, once you get your weekly loot, you don't touch savage until the next week because running it again screws people out of potential loot.
It's such a pointless system considering normal raids do the same thing, you get one drop a week, only you can run it however much you want and other people can still get loot. It sucks having friends that want to do high end content, but don't want to do PF and don't want to just join a group of random people. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to just help another friend group out that's down a person for raid night without screwing them out of loot.
The issue for me is there is not enough variety to upgrade gear. It's too simplistic. Also besides materia it's a very basic system. There is not much scope to tinker with it . I'd love to have the ability to apply skilltress/ruins/subsets. Ah the word I'm looking for is customisability. I never ever had issues with grinding, I'd grind for weeks. Imagine if everyone could have a unique build. I'd love that.
