  1. Thanks for watching! I lost my voice for 1.5 weeks and I was still recovering during the stream, sorry if the difference between that and post-recording sounds weird. I was also on PTT since I was coughing a lot so there's a bit of static sometimes. I'm sorry if this video feels a little pointless in some ways. My channel started with FFXIV, hardcore raiding, week 1s and all that. It felt wrong to up and leave so I guess I felt the need to explain my inactivity and the sharp pivot in content. On a personal level, this video is somewhat of a closure for me.

A lot of people found me from FFXIV and my channel wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for that. I will always grateful for everything that I've been through. Honestly this feels kinda like a break up but I guess that's what happens when you play a game for 8 years LOL. There are a lot of things I didn't get to say during the stream but I think this is a good enough summary for now. I might talk about it more in future streams, or in a podcast that I mighttt be hosting with a friend next year. I'm really excited to enjoy the game casually with friends again, just like the beginning. I might stream it from time to time but it will no longer be my main game and raiding for progression's sake will not be a priority anymore.

Anyway, the variety arc begins! I'm pretty excited to try Chrono Trigger, Trails series, old FF games and even Pokemon lmao. I didn't really play the Mystery Dungeon titles. I'm going to be starting Xenoblade tomorrow as well. I also decided to make a backlog so it's public for chat and yeah.. maybe I should stop finding new games LOL, but if you want to recommend any games, just let me know 😀

Thanks everyone for being here, looking forward to a new journey!

  2. every expansion my main job gets less fun to play (DRG), nastrond changes were just the nail on the coffin. I'll probably try FRU but I have no hopes or expectations for 8.0 tbh. It was a good run tho, maybe the game is just not for me anymore. And I feel you for phys ranged.

  3. hi, i was a scholar/white mage during heavensward and dark knight during stormblood. i quit during the first year of shadowbringers because they took alot of skill expression from my main jobs much like your gripe with bard. and at the time if i ever talk to any of the players about how devs dont care about me i get scoffed at to. its just so funny to me that 6 years later people are starting to see things the way i saw them when i quit thats good you made that decision for yourself. best of luck with whatver you do after and i will sub and look forward to seeing what else you upload.

  4. henlo stal! I am starting my monday morning with your vod, and I've read a few explanations over on twitter. I can only support as vod gang here in youtube since I really cannot commit to watching live streams most of the time as I am a gamer myself lol

Just wanted to let you know that I don't mainly watch you because of FF14 rather I like hearing you talk about stuff, and react to stuff. Kind of like checking in on my friend on what she's up to etc. Good luckkkkkkkkkk !

  5. When DRK was deleted for Dark Warrior, I swapped to SCH, after 4.0 I've given up on hoping for anything good job balance related. Your main job is the lens in which you view the entire rest of the game with. My glasses have no lenses anymore, I can't see shit captain!

  6. This game doesn't make sense. The jobs are designed for casuals, but they don't release casual content. They mostly release high end content, but we have to do it with casual jobs….

It really feels like in the West that 3rd party tools are sustaining much of the playerbase's engagement with the game currently, but they are officially "banned" by the developers. The game seems designed for a japanese audience, and yet they sell it outside of Japan and rely on foreign money.

It's a game of contradictions and not in a good way. They need to come up with an actual design philosophy and tell us what it is.

  7. Your points about Bard's identity since ShB is the biggest issue I have with the game. Ever since they implemented the idea of making every job self-sufficient, it called into question the need for a support role, and then they simultaneously added another support role.

I miss Palisade, Refresh, and Foe Requiem. I think the biggest improvement they could make to Bard is reintroduce a sense of synergy between the jobs, add a way for jobs to make up for each others' weaknesses. However, in order to do that, they have to reintroduce weaknesses to each job, and that will get a lot of backlash from a lot more players.

Effectively, Bard's job identify was sacrificed in order to fit their new vision for the job system.

  8. It is more than okay to step back from a game you feel like you'd rather not invest as much time into. That's what time is- an *investment*, and if you're not getting a personal return on that (e.g. you're not getting the enjoyment you used to, or worse it's taking away the fun you could be having) it's a bad investment.

I've found streamers that did XIV on the regular, and still do it but have moved to variety and it's been so good for them and their stream. It's so much more fun to play a game when that feeling of joy you get from it is natural, not forced or relative. Wishing you all the best with this step and looking forward to seeing what you do!

  9. This was not a pointless stream. Its good to set the record straight on stuff like this.
That being said, its fine to change things up after so long and how scary it can be. I hope the best on this part of your journey.

  10. FFXIV has been in a constant state of identity crisis bascially since heavensward. They want to branch out and try new things, but the community will completely lose its shit when they attempt to break the normal formula even a little bit. So each expansion they are too afraid to make more than the smallest baby step in changing the content. It was fine up until Shadowbringers, but at this point its getting very repetitive and very boring.

  11. I'm at about the same point as you as well… I started back in like 2014 (when I was 14…) and Its been a long journey but after TOP and the last story arc wrapping up I decided it was time I retire from playing ff14 as much/seriously. I still do content but I don't obligate myself to finish it and I just play a couple hours a week for funzies and if I don't feel like playing I don't!

  12. I've started to notice a trend amongst a lot of the veterans of the game or those that are caught up in-general either quitting the game outright or going on an extended break. I wish the game was better at retaining players, did a better job at the jobs/roles(and many other things), and offered up more to keep 'em engaged. New player experience is great, hands down one of the best out there….but once the honeymoon phase is up, and you're all caught up it's rough to keep playing the game even if you want to. But because of how the game is designed it gets old after awhile. All this to say, you're definitely not alone in feeling the way you are. Variety def will be great and hope to see more of your vids pop up in the youtube side of things as I don't really watch streams

  13. I follow various types of FF14 content creators, but most of them don’t stream the game very often—maybe once a week at most. I enjoy running alliance raids with them whenever I get the chance to join their party. Whatever the game is, what's important is you enjoying it the most.

  14. Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people that decided to quit playing with being bored and lack of content! I mean I decided to quit playing just wasn’t enjoying it as much with not really having anything to do and be honest not really worth to me to keep subscribing and just wasting it maybe eventually I’ll go back but with Monster Hunter Wilds coming out in a few months most likely just be focusing on it. I’m hoping Yoshi P can do more with FFXIV adding more content for casual players to do and bring all the fun back into it!

  15. Honestly?

You're absolutely right. Bard's felt horrid since Shadowbringers, and I say that as a former Bard Main of 5 years. Endwalker Dancer was SUBLIME though, and they messed it up with the Tillana changes in Dawntrail.

I feel like the devs sometimes just change stuff for the sake of having something new, even if the previous version was practically flawless.
