  1. I think the problem is that when people do report cheaters they are deleting the report template and typing everything in. And I bet the report sound like this, "I just saw a guy cheating here now." It would be hard for anyone to find a cheater that way for evidence but if we fill out the reports line by line it would make SE's job easier to find these cheater. I deleted all the text took over a week to hear back from SE, then I filled out a report line by line and it took 3 days for them to get back to me. Or people see cheaters and say nothing, then complain nothing is happening to them. SE is a report based system so they need us to report cheaters for them to take action. And for those who say it does not take away from me, I have playing a lot of sge as of late and I had to carry "perfect legend" lvl 90 tanks because they don't know how to AOE to keep hate, I see sprouts doing better and I am tired of carrying these people.

  2. No one cares about clearing savage mode world 297278th This won't be the "death of final fantasy" rofl Savage mode is like 1% of the content of 14

"The only reason people do content at the highest level is bragging rights" -Self report. If you have to do the hardest content in an MMORPG to get "bragging rights" and not just because you enjoy the challenge / fun of it then I am sorry you probably should touch grass.

Games are moddable on gamepass btw.

  3. These programs have been in the game since 2.0 launch. SE has never taken action against these programs or players as far as the community at large is aware.
It doesnt matter how much exposure they get because the Special Task Force(literally 5 people located in JP, devs own words) cant/wont investigate it. Either by red tape policy or higher ups request. To them, these cheaters are still paying a sub.

  4. Yoshida has gone through stuff like this before. They bring the hammer down each time. Yoshida has said plenty of times that even DPS meters are something he doesn't particularly like but he'll look the other way if they're not used maliciously towards others. This is going to cross the line by a mile and they will absolutely and definitely be taking action, guaranteed.

  5. ow no we should not ban people for using it,let them clear things without clearing it….
i agree with the bans and no third party tools and let the streamers be smarter and cover up their addons when they stream.

  6. I noticed that they are completely ending Windows 7 support shortly, as they will no longer be allowing use of TLS versions older than 1.2. I wonder if they found it to be a way to fix some big vulnerabilities. I've seen a couple shady people in PvP as well.

As to the AddOns, I'm on PS5 so in my opinion anything that goes beyond maybe modifying how the UI looks is absolutely unfair. To say "Oh it is just timers/callouts" takes away from the very real ability it takes to do that as a human. There is a lot of grey area, but that stuff always annoys me – knowing (or having someone on the team who can shotcall) is absolutely a huge part of the game and can be someones pride as a player.

Some of the stuff which shows you how to resolve mechanics directly is obviously 100% unfair.

People in PS5/PS4 only parties clear ultimates and the like, so I'm not going to listen to anybody who says you need them. Even FATE botters or gathering bots actively have a negative impact on the game – that is why the majority of the new FATE rewards are untradable, where as before they had been good for selling, but you can't compete with bots.

  7. Ah. So its WoD combat addons on steroids (Blizz banned them patch later cuz IT was just dumb). + Bot that not only tells you how to do rotation (these are REALLY unaccurate in WoW btw. following them will give you at best blue parses), but litteraly does the rotation for you

  8. Some people use this as an argument for why add-ons should be allowed, because it can be controlled.
Actually, it's a good motivation to crack down on them even harder (assuming it can even be done).
And the funny thing is, most of the add-ons shown in this video? They can't even be stopped. They can be made harder to develop, but not stopped.
To those uninitiated this is LITERALLY the case for every game of any repute. If you actually think this can be avoided, you have no idea what you're talking about.

  9. It's a shame that thing kind of stuff happens, but I just see it getting worse before any good solution ever comes out. And not just for FF14, but online games in general. I think the idea of an MMO is amazing, but the reality of what the internet does with these games (from optimizing the fun out of it, bots and cheats, and awful communities) is largely more of a negative than a positive. I'm glad I got to have a couple decades of fun before this stuff got to a point where I don't really want to invest my time into this kind of thing anymore. At least the internet will have a harder time ruining single player games.

  10. AI is horrible at tracking many inputs at the same time. It is the reason why anticheat is kernel based. That way it functions like a chessprogram and can track information way easier. Using AI for banning things is always a horrible idea.

  11. Here's a better analogy. You train your ass off to win the gold metal in the quarter mile. Then one day a guy comes in and uses an electric scooter to bust your record. He doesn't have to do anything but stand there and push a button. The only "addon" type thing I want in FFXIV, is a way to bind mouse buttons + key combinations to healing spells, to use on the unit frames for healing. Vuhdo is an example of a WOW addon that does this. I've…sort of accomplished this with some mouseover macros, but I can't use the mouse buttons themselves, I have to use the keys the spells are bound to.

  12. Those mods in that video….they have been around since second coil. Same with the bot programs.

The thing is you can easily pick out those who are completely automating their characters. However I would argue that the percentage of people using these types of hacks are relatively low.

  13. Botting and Gaming Industry? They are not actually against each other lol.

Botters pay subscription (or convenience service) fees and feeds heavy players, providing cash cow for the company. The company will ban those bots a few times per year at most, of course this isn't hard enough to steer away those botters. Yet any industry will never hire professional hackers to implement anti-botting solution.

I've watched a few Hacker convention videos where hackers present security problems on various subjects. They themselves know game companies never hire any 'security' related personnel to simply prevent botting.

    >> Skilled hackers are not cheap to hire, even with short term contract. In fact, those hackers will charge more money than the manager trying to hire the hacker lol. Those hackers in the convention says even in those large companies, net codes and system related codes are nothing better than beginner level: super easy for them to tackle in.
    >> Even though you do not remove botting right now, the game continues and so called 'players', hardcore or not, will "pay" the money for next level expansion/cash shop items when it drops –> Revenue will not suffer drastically simply due to botting: shareholders will not drag you down just because of botting.

In the end, it's all about the money. As long as a certain MMO is generating good revenue for investors, botting will still exist and gameplay will suffer.

  14. Ff14 must not enter the dev vs add-ons arms race.
In WoW this just created a perpetual increase in endgame difficulty that made any semi decent player need at least a few combat addons

  15. I don't even see why you need any addons in FFXIV. It takes away from the fun of the game. In WoW addons are like game assists. There is so much going on and the game UI is not very intuitive to letting you know what is happening. I like the idea of having a bell scream at me if I'm standing in fire because I'm too focused on rotation or tracking cooldowns or preparing to interrupt that I don't notice. I like something auditory to tell me I need to run or something like that. Sometimes there is also too much happening on the scream that something could be missed. I think anything that goes further than that or plays the game for you shouldn't be allowed.

  16. I mean, when you have a bot play the game for you…..what's the point of even "playing" the game? Cause you certainly aren't playing the game if you're letting a bot do all the work for you lol

  17. I think people should stop calling these tools addons when talking about FFXIV, the game doesn't have addons these are 3rd party tools that hack the game, switch models, draw on top of it, read the network data, etc. This is different to WoW for example where the developers made APIs so people can make addons for the game.

  18. They are not allowed it's in the ToS and alot of people are being banned for using them unlike wow FFXIV bans people for add-ons some of them were of like the UI and little things but now they have had enough and are banning all of them

  19. I hate to tell you, they aren't going to do shit about it.

They have had basically the same gathering/crafting bots in the game since shortly after ARR, so I just dont think they care.

I couldn't be arsed to gather all the materials to level up my crafters so I just used a bot, 24/7 constantly for weeks. And I've done it every time I had to level up crafters, never been banned, or even gotten a warning. And I wasn't even trying to hide it.

  20. DBM doesn't do shit that its similar.

It is literally JUST Timers. Hell if you have a competent raid leader running DBM the rest of your raid doesn't even need it since the RL will be calling out mechanics anyways.
