i didnt really notice any change
FFXIV community has been shit before WoW. It's actually the shit part of the community claiming it's WoW players absolutely responsible for the shit community.
WE NEED OPEN WORLD PVP, ZONES, OR MORE ARENAS SPREAD OUT ACROSS THE WORLD TO "HOST" 1v1 PVP BATTLES! JUST HAVING THE WOLVES DEN IS NOT ENOUGH! Sorry for caps, but I've felt this way since the beginning lol
What's the main complaints with FFXIV's community?
You nailed it. 14 is a theme park. 11 was a hardcore, nuts to butts mmo, with a sandbox style I miss.
Edit: also, yeah, multiple people have said I was lying about the bullying behavior that I've run into. People literally have called me "A lying dick head".
It's sad.
Funny because 90% of my bad interactions were in the 2.X era before "wow migration" was even a thing. Playing FF14 does not make you a better person.

Well as a 1.0 player and notice the changes and behavior of players, I would say mostly yes and somewhat no, by bringing in this "racing mentality" and rush to get content done kills the mmo side of a mmorpg. Like slow down a bit and have patience. Not saying all WoW players are rushing but most do so, so they can rush to get content done and leave to play other games, I'm a mmorpg player and take my time and yes sometimes I catch myself finishing content more quickly then WoW players but I use my 2nd account to help and teach new players the basics of the game, but when it comes to raiders and a themepark ascept of raiding, I can see how toxic it can be and impatient some players get. Perhaps is not WoW players at all, but the way Themepark mmorpg's lead the path of creating impatientness or toxicity of leading a straight for path to get it done and when it comes a new player coming into this and they are not fast as them, they end up kicking them from pt and it kills the mmo side of helping someone learn the fights and WoW players are known for that.
The only WoW players that have had a negative impact are the ones that can't get their mind out of the WoW prism. That just means, the ones that still think they "need" addons, despite the fact that you can do every piece of content in this game without a single one, or the people that, for some sad reason, miss being able to camp and grief people out in the world (this is coming from a guy who played 14 years on a PvP server in WoW).
That said, I would agree with one of those tweets that said, the majority of those people probably all went back to WoW already. The ones that remain are as chill as any FFXIV old timer I've met–mostly because they've learned to let the WoW mindset go. I know I did.
You nailed the problem in the head. People are the problem, period. Regardless of them [insert any verb here] [insert any action here], there are stupid and entitled people everywhere. Unsurprisingly, those are the ones who want their way shoved over your choices, as if theirs were not only more important than yours, but the only true one. Social media gave these folks a much louder voice than they deserve. Adding the trolls amplifying it, you have today's recipe for disaster.
Some of the coolest players I’ve met on this game came from wow
i agree ff11 is better when it comes to players ideals ff14 running away from ideal playstyle ff14 is for team work over solo builds wow was a sad game for me but i can't down ppl that love's it so from here on idc what happen to ff14 now if it drop dead like wow so be it. like i have to agree there or more wow ppl on ff14. and some or just random new ppl thats just trying to enjoy the game so i can say ff14 not for me like ff11 was thats why i don't play it much anymore if i do log in its only to play blue then im off again
I think wow players are causing toxicity but not in the way people think. I believe they are largely involved in the add on drama and the entitlement seen there.
This girl speaks the truth. I 100% agree. FF14 was Toxic on it's own well before WoW. But where she's wrong is WoW player base migrating did and made it WORSE.
I bring the same attitude in every game I play online… o/ and gg. As on controller it's hard to hold conversation and rotations (as Keyboard isn't a mm away gotta sit-up then I can type). Unless we're in MSQ, then I can hold conversation during scenes.
So basically, FFXIV players are blaming immigrants for ruining their party. That's just great.
There is a difference between having a discussion and giving constructive, valid criticism on the one hand and just toxicity on the other hand. Sometimes people are just not able to see that difference.
What I am currently seeing in GW2 with a noticeable influx of new players is that there are quite some people who have some expectations and misconceptions about the game, because they expect it to be just the same as the other MMO they were coming from. These lead to some frustration on their side and is testing the patience of those who try to explain the game to the new players.
As you had a much bigger influx of new players in FF14 last year, I think you had – and still have – to deal with the same thing, just that the new players now arrive in endgame and maybe expereince their first "content draught" between the patches. It may just take a long time for people who stayed with one game for many years and inhaled that culture to adjust to a different culture when switching over to another one. This is just natural and you can plug in any two MMOs you know of into that statement. Also, as people always influence other people, even the "home culture" of FF14 may change a bit.
I've seen this so much in game and I always disprove it. Back before WoW players came around, I came across toxic players, I was even called a racial slur by a tank because we were defending a healer who was new. Meanwhile, the WoW players I've come across have been nothing but friendly towards me and other players. I've since stopped playing FFXIV because the drama and toxicity I've gotten dragged into got mentally exhausting. PSO2 is my new home and it is 100x more friendly than the FFXIV community is now
there are 2 types of wow player who came here the causals who wanted a better game where the game respect there time and the toxic elitists from wow who got bored of wow sadly a lot fo the both side came with it and added to the drama and toxicity becuase wow community is openly toxic and has been while ffxiv has toxicity to a small point so some ppl from wow stay the same toxic and stupid while some learned and ajusted t the community simple as that .Also the addons and the drama around them grow a lot at the time of the so called wow refugees.
Hm… I feel relieved to not actively use social media. I really hate drama. Life choices validated. XD
I’ve been an avid PvP player since PvP began. Feast frontline the lot. Recently I caught myself doing something frankly rather nasty and unlike my usual calm and nurturing demeanor. I play a healer in PvP, and I have an expectation of tanks in PvP to peel and setup limit breaks to win the game in a clutch situation; I had a Paladin in my CC match three times, and it was clear by game three this tank didn’t know what his or her role was. After the game I went to their server, sent them a tell and told them and I quote, “I feel like you should go online and lookup a guide on how to play a tank in PvP, it will help us both immensely.” An hour later I realized just how caustic that was. Paladin tank, if you ever read this, I’m sorry. Genuinely. I’m annoyingly loving and nurturing and this is not like me at all. Pressure brings out the worst in many of us.
Since what we’ve played is brought up, FFXI 2004-2010xRandom WoW 2008 xRandom FFXIV 2013 x Current.
What are you talking about the WOW community made the game worse !!!!!!
Stop no no don't pull my WOW log PLEASE GOD no !!!!
More people just means that there are going to be more people with nasty attitudes. Even if 1% of your players are toxic, going from 500,000 players to 2 million players means going from 5,000 players to 20,000 players.
