  1. Let me change the way you hear to this song. The choir that starts at 11:35 says "Beat, the Heart of Sabik, the Heart of Sabik, the Heart of Sabik". But the XIV community being the XIV community, sings it as "Big Fat Tacos, Oh, Big Fat Tacos, Oh, Big Fat Tacos SO BIG!"

  2. At 26:58 Hear, Feel, Think. This had me laughing so much. 😂 you said these words in passing but they're more appropriate than you could imagine. A major character in the game says these exact words many times.

  3. "is this fight hard? tell me I'm right"

this fight traumatized me so hard I start wanting to cry every time I hear his theme, great fight, titan is in fact an ass, safe zones are tiny and very pin point precise on all phases, if one person is a step out of line they can wipe the whole group and you will need to start the 16min fight from the beginning… and this is considered the easiest of the current 3 ultimates with a 4th one being added soon (there is this one, Unending Coils of Bahamut, The Epic of Alexander and the next one is going to be Dragonsong Ultimate)

Edit: another cool fact is because all these fights are on strict timers the music can actually be a huge aid as certain sections of the songs will line up perfectly with important mechanics.

  4. There are a lot of songs in FF14 that many people will mishear lyrics to, and the Ultima theme is one of the most well known. So well know that it is now a meme. After the initial instrumentational intro, the choir will come in singing "Beat, the Heart of Sabik," which people will mishear as either "Big Fat Tacos," or what I hear "Beef Soft Tacos."

Congratulations! You will think about tacos anytime this song gets played! Have a taco day… I mean good day.

  5. So, basically what’s happened here, is you’ve been duped into watching the entirety of one of FFXIVs Ultimate fights, and listened to 4 songs in the process that are more hardcore versions of the same songs that play elsewhere in the game. There is no song called “the weapon’s refrain” that is just the name of the fight. Heck the first 3 songs are ripped right from the album “From Astral to Umbral”

I’m not sayin’ it’s a bad thing you got duped into watchin’ this, cause the music is great regardless, but do consider picking up XIV for yourself once the hype for Endwalker dies down enough that SQEX decides they can sell it again

  6. For clarity's sake, "The Minstrel's Ballad" and other flowery titles ahead of stuff like that is referring to difficulty level. In-game, there's a bard that you tell about your adventures and he makes songs based on them while admitting to "embellishing" details, and that's how you unlock the harder versions of endgame stuff. "The Weapon's Refrain" takes several fights and combines them into a single long endurance fight, something that is done again several points, like the Unending Coil of Bahamut. It's kind of a neat way to reuse old content, cranking up the difficulty to be in line with later content, giving a real test to see how well you remember older fights. That said, there's nothing story related in these fights, it's all primarily for bragging rights.

  7. Also the Titan song sounds familiar because of Heritor of the Crag. Heritor of the Crag was a remix of the song that Titan's section was a mix of. The Heritor of the Crag fight was based on your memories of Titan from years prior given form, so Garuda, Ramuh, Titan, and Ifrit all got remixes both in mechanics and music

  8. Ultimate tier raids have the lowest clear percentage out of everything in the game…since of the difficulty and you kind of have to just commit all your time to learn everything with most likely a premade team

  9. Is this fight hard? My static of 8 players who have never tried this fight before has attempted it over 50 times and we've only just SEEN the last part of the fight once. This is WITH us all studying the fight and guides. I can practically do this fight blind up to suppression my muscle memory is so attuned to this.

  10. If you liked the Ultima compilation, look into the 'Epic of Alexander'. It's another ultimate tier fight that goes through 4 different songs similar to this one, and you've actually heard the original version of the first two songs in the Epic of Alexander, those being Locus and Metal: Brute Justice mode. If you want to hear the original versions of the Epic of Alexander's latter two songs first, they're called 'Moebius' and 'Rise'. Great video and I love what you do here on the channel!

  11. hmm weird. This sounds different from the ingame theme that plays and that I have tried… at least garuda did and the very first chords of ifrit that I heard after 3 hours of progress xD

Ultima Weapon Ultimate, in short UWU, is one of the currently 3 ultimate raids in the game. It's exceptionally hard and maybe 0.x – max 1.x % of the playerbase has cleared it. Takes some groups weeks or months to clear this fight once – my fc lead had it done in like 3k pulls.

but other than that….. BIG FAT TACOS, SO BIG FAT TACOS, oh BIG FAT TACOS soooo BIIIIIG

  12. To get a bit of clarity into the chaos.
Ff14 re-released after flopping hard in 2013, the last story dungeon had Ultima as the final boss.
Few months later we got an optional harder version of it. Later the music of Ultima, Titan, Ifrit and Garuda got orchestrion remixes.
In the Stormblood expansion 2017-2019 we got an optional ultimate difficulty multiphase fight of Ultima where the orchestrion version of Garuda, Ifrit, Titan and Ultima play.

While I like the orchestrion version, I personally prefer the original version you haven't heard yet.

  14. Prepare for the Endwalker flood. Soken, the composer, has been given too much power and he has been releasing some absolute bangers. Now, the servers have been congested since the release of the expansion, so I'll just give some spoiler-free titles since plenty of FFXIV fans watch your videos: Endwalker First Trial, Flow, Endwalker third trial phase 2. Just a heads-up not to use anything in your thumbnails from the video unless it's a spoiler-free video, specifically. Especially the First Trial blind-sided the entire community because it happens early on and people expected it to hit later.

  15. Yeah finally, probably my favorite song from this game. Glad you loved it.

I'd really love to see you react to Divinity Original Sin 2 now, starting with "Mead, Gold and Blood". I'm sure you will like this game's OST. It's fantastic.

  16. As someone who has never touched a guitar, I also rarely paying attention to its parts and techniques, so I really like it how you can shift my attention to those and help me experience the songs in a new way 😀
You have heard a remix of Titan before – "Landslide". This rendition is more similar to "Under the Weight", the original Titan theme 😀
Wow, I think I died a bit at the start of Ultima right after the choir introduction. I've always loved that theme but have NEVER heard this version before! So I also never knew there was an orchestra version to this, thank you so much! I do love the live rendition more though, as it's closer to the original, while the one in the Ultimate fight is a slight remix, but that was just beautiful ♥

  17. The reason why its familiar is due to alot of songs in FF14 have different versions of thye same song some originaly are slow but if there is phases of the raid or conected to the previous rade then the song stays its just eigehr made more up beat or more rock or techno.Thast why you hear familiarity its cbs it is the same song that you probbaly reacted to its just that its secound or third version of the same song with different instruments and tempo.

  18. The thing about this song is that the main boss, the Ultima Weapon, eats those previous Primal bosses to power up so for this Ultimate fight the music goes through remixes of those Primal themes before transitioning into Ultima Weapon's theme itself. It's super cool. I think when you noted that you heard something in Titan before it was from the Eden raid version you reacted to.

  19. People have probably already said it before, but the first video is the alternate versions of the music that play during the 'Ultimate' version of the fight against ultima weapon (and the primals garuda, ifrit and titan). The ultimate trials are some of the hardest content in the game.
The orchestra version and its accompanying video, on the other hand, are actually from the much much easier fight you encounter during the main scenario quests in the last story dungeon of the ffxiv base game (not counting the base game patch content).
It's a running methodology in ffxiv, I guess you could say, where sometimes bosses get 'recycled' into a harder or alternate version and when that happens they usually get an alternate version of the theme, or a new theme with references to the old one, as well 🙂

  20. Well its one of the ultimate fights. At this point there are only 3 ultimate fights and they are the hardest fights in the game. Even tho the weapons refrain Ultimate is considered the easiest of the 3 it takes some time and determination to clear this fights.

So yes – its hard 🙂

  21. As others might already have said, the Ultima version in this fight IS the orchestral version, so the 2nd video you watched was the exact same song you just listened to. I definitely recommend listening to the original version of Ultima.

  22. Ultima Weapon Ultimate is the first Ultimate fight. Ultimate fights are made to be extremely challenging for those who wanted it. A single error can explode the party. Any one player's mistake can't wipe the run. However, just like with almost all extreme bosses, these fights are heavily scripted and have a few gaps in design which players exploit.

Gaps such as….Only 6 of 8 of you are expected to attack. The 2 missing are the healers. Healers on average are slightly weaker than tanks. Additionally the game is designed against forcing you to heal every waking moment of the fight. Because of the healers' power, there's a disparity between the requirement and the potential. Because of the intentionally easy going approach to healing, it allows for healers to attack often, which can easily end up being almost all of the time, especially if everyone does their march routine correctly. Because of this, it is very possible to cover for any one or two players' deficiencies in damage, so as long as they move their ass to the correct positions on queue so that they do NOT explode the party. Almost all of the mechanics don't require you to kill. Just move to the correct spot and keep doing damage to the boss while your at it.
Nevermind how with every expansion, everyone gets stronger than the time this was made in.
Because of this wide margin for error, it is very easy for players to cheat the challenge. Paid carry groups. Or just carry groups in general. Players, especially the streamers, you can trust to do absolutely nothing right "somehow" getting Ultimate weapons – the price for having cleared the fight- for all to see. Thus devaluing the challenge as a whole. And proving that it is not as hard as people want to believe it is.

    It's just not impressive anymore.
