  1. "I like accents" – as do I, but as an American.. you DO have an accent Quazii 😛 And I like yours too! But yeah, this vid of hers hit the algorithm on YT and I started watching her lore vids and stuff and it's so soothing to listen to!

  2. Love Malisity's content and, even never having played WoW, I totally get what she's saying in her point about flying. While I appreciate that the zones in FF14 often feel very diverse from each other, they do also feel very small and contained. This tends to make them feel very theme-parky where there's very little space that doesn't have any major point of interest or quest hub or dungeon entrance in it. It also tends to limit the feeling of scale in the zones where it's hard to get a real feeling for how big something is, how tall something is, etc. A place like the Azim Steppe should feel absolutely vast but it just feels small when you can fly completely from one side to the other in a couple of minutes (not to mention that you can literally see from one side to the other). Sure this sort of thing isn't actually even technically possible in FF14's engine (remember how they had to put the dwarf tribe in ShB in another zone because they ran out of memory in the zone that had the rest of the dwarves), and maybe it is or isn't done better in WoW, but I can't say she's wrong about this at all

  3. 6:38 You can change the glamour at any sanctuary (which is basically near any aetheryte crystal out in the world), HOWEVER, the glamours can't be edited out in the world. This is one area where WoW just does it better.

  4. hey i like your accent, it's very distinctive while still being very clear and easy to understand. malisty's accent is very melodious but can sometimes be difficult to parse, especially since i like to watch everything on x2 speed. cant do that with malisty lol

  5. I'd say upgrading the glamour system is more feasible compare to changing how open world works
right now, each zone is considered its own instance, with some zones having multiple instances to handle more people
and with how diving work, I think it's safe to assume it is also another instance at work
also each zone is not completely adjacent to each other, there is very obvious that many zones actually have gaps that we skip over during the transition

To connect all of those together, not only all gaps in between zones have to be filled, but working of instances of zone need to be overhauled.
IIRC, 1.0 version tried to do this by masking the loading with long tunnel, which would not work with flying
so theoretically it can be done, but probably in the far future with all the amount of worked needed

  6. I may say something controversial, but I don't really want a glamour dresser/armoire where you can collect every appearance in the game. Make it larger? Sure. Easier to use, access, without the need for glamour prism? Absolutely! A catalogue where you can preview any item in the game on your character and where to get them from? Yes.

But an "infinitely large" dresser would create a situation where collection addicts, like me, would feel compelled to collect everything. Even if they don't enjoy the content much and don't really want to use the item, people would end up grinding it just for the sake of ticking that box in the collection tab. A dresser with a size limit makes you think what you actually want to wear, what pieces are worth pursuing.

  7. I can't say that your accent sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger. And if it sounded German, it wouldn't sound like him at all, since his accent is very distinctly Austrian (and amusing tidbit is that when Terminator was dubbed into German, Schwarzenegger actually offered to dub himself, but that was rejected because German viewers wouldn't take him seriously because he "sounded like Austrian farmer").

Also, I disagree that Guild Wars 2's "glamour" system is the best for the simple reason that it requires "Transmutation Charges" to use. Which are naturally found in the cash shop (although I don't know how many you can get in-game).

Speaking of GW2, one thing I'd like FFXIV to do is making underwater areas more interesting. GW2 has some really nice-looking underwater areas that are fun to swim through even when you're not doing anything in them, while FFXIV… doesn't. There, it's all just kind of boring. I'm surprised that it's the transition Malisity complained about and not the areas themselves.

  8. Look on the bright side Quazii, you have a VERY easy cosplay for Halloween Streams XD

Also, I think a good chunk of the things she mentioned are things I feel are just limitations of the engine the game is running on, along with things needing to be cross compatible with the console version.

  9. I don't agree with the glamour system idea. Having a preview closet in FFXIV, I absolutely say yes, but "learning" every loot forever I have to desagree with. It was marvelous in WoW at first because everyone was farming and professions were back at full force producing old crafts and selling them to a very active market of buyers eagered to learn everything. But as soon as a vast majority of players did learned all those "not so hard to craft" items, market plummeted. Nowadays, those greens items (and even a lot of blues and purples) are totally worthless. Nobody is buying it and so old crafts are again forgotten.

Meanwhile in FFXIV, since people are limited, there is a continuous circle of farming/buying->selling/deleting of items. Making so the market for old items is still really strong and active, people are buying even level 10 crafts just for the sake glamouring. People do tag old dungeons, raids, etc in roulette to loot glamour while farming XP/memoquartz with an alt (despite the fact some are doing it in desync).

If people were starting to learn items forever, do you think market will remain as active as now ? Roulette as active as now ? And thats not even considering that FFXIV has moment of quiet betwenn patches. At first people would farm like hell. And then, since they would progress through it, they would bother less and less, til not bothering anymore. Sometimes the carott is needed, at least to protect this virtual market and flow of players in roulettes.

  10. Listening to you talk about the water in Zerath Mortis reminded me how much I miss S. Jastice. Are we going to hear a dev update for the upcoming Dragonfruit expansion?

  11. As for the accent, id say the closest accent to yours would be Arthars of the ff14 streamers, so yeah definitely an asian accent.

I'll edit this as i watch
The achievement window got reworked in EW to be more user friendly but she's right that there's no "percentage completed", probably for the same reason theres no "universal mount/minion" tab, yoshi doesnt want ppl to stress over not having $$$ store cosmetics or not obtainable achievs

6:27 quazii is right, they did make it so that you can change glam plates in any rested area, but to make one you still have to go to an inn

9:50 the water transition is most likely related to the fact that diving is a stormblood feature, so they had to tack it on instead of having the game built around it

13:30 the loading between zones is a remnant of ps3 limitations, as the ps3 only had 256mb of ram, forcing the zones to be smaller as well, which is why stormblood onwards, the maps are much bigger, in 1.0 you could "technically" have one solid world, divided by loading tunnels instead of loadscreens, the main cities were also one cohesive unit instead of being separated in 2 by a loadscreen

  12. I'm not going to lie I can't name 5 things I miss from WoW. And I'll explain why.

PvP, in some ways is likely still better in WoW but I don't miss it because unless you're horde there's no point in PvP. Faction locked PvP ruins it and no balance.

Speaking of balance, there can be up to 35% difference between lowest and highest DPS classes. The worst it's ever been in FFXIV is 5%? Maybe 9?

This automatically makes raids and dungeons less fun in WoW imo as you're forced to play certain things. They won't even take you in groups.

Even for transmog, it looks better in FFXIV. So here's what I do miss:

Transmog storage space since it's effectively not capped but in FFXIV it is.

Sometimes I do miss the art from WoW but I now prefer XIV's.

That's about it for real. 2 things. It would have been much more, if WoW didn't have Draenor, BFA and Shadowlands.

I don't really get the achievements thing, FFXIV has it too. And you can pretty easily calculate your % if you count the number of max achievements. And the UI is terrible in WoW, you can't compare add-on UI to vanilla. And WoW vanilla UI is alot worse than FFXIV. it's too little space and clunky.

Yep I don't miss WoW lol

  13. If you want a mix of FFXIV and WoW glamour listing and dyes, you need to start recommending more Guild Wars 2 glamour system. Because that's exactly what it is. It even have multiple dye channels per piece of gear, so that you can paint the whole piece as you wish.

The downsides of GW2 system is that the dyes are the "real" collectible there, with many of then locked behind RNG lootboxes or sold by a small fortune in the auction house (but once unlocked you can use it as many times as you want), and that the Glamour Prism equivalent is a real money store item, making it less feasible to swap glams on a whim.

  14. 11:05 When you were talking about flying, were you under the impression that obtaining flying was made easier in the previous expansions by the time Shadowbringers was out or did you not collect aether currents at all until Shadowbringers?

The aether current system hasn't changed since it was introduced at the start of Heavenward as your meant to be able to fly in a zone once you complete all the initial MSQ related to that zone and a few blue marked side quests on top of however many you need to track down with your compass.

  15. I miss a lot of things from WoW that only WoW players could really understand, However I haven't done and achieved everything in either game yet. I just didn't have any interest in retail WoW anymore though and I didn't feel like restarting/replaying Classic. Its just something I have to accept while enjoying what FFXIV does have to offer, but please YoshiP, My glamour chest is full lol

  16. I think your accent is great and you have a great manner of speaking. You come across as warm, friendly, and thoughtful. You convey you ideas in a concise and consistent way. However, I never be able to unhear the "Arnold-ish-ness" quality of your voice. hahaha

  17. As far as the Arnold voice goes – now that you've said it, I can't unhear it, lol. As for the glamour, yeah, we've been asking for better glamouring system for a very long time. Can you believe that the current iteration is loads better than when I first started at the beginning of Stormblood? There were no glamour plates, and each crafting job had its own glamour prism. In order to glamour something made/repaired with goldsmith, you had to have a Goldsmith Glamour Prism, and so on. And there was no chocobo saddlebags yet either, so that stuff lived in your Armory Chest, inventory, or in retainers since not everything could go in the Armoire. So, they've come a long way from where they were at, and I know the team wants a better system. I've read that the devs wanted a WoW catalog type of system but the code couldn't handle it and it would crash the game. Hopefully, as time goes on they will be able to figure it out. 😀

  19. People seem to forget this, as long as you have glamour prisms you CAN glamour on the go, so those random times you get a new item and now it messes up your glam, as long as you got the item in inv/armoury chest (yes its annoying, and I am also a strong advocate for SE just straight up stealing how the WoW transmog collections tab works) you can glamour it until you have the time to go put it on a plate.
