  1. I don't think Endwalker was bad, but I also feel like it could have been a lot more. It feels like the Cataclysm of FF14, basically just sticking with what worked in Shadowbringers because it's safe, rather than really changing the game. I would have put it in B at best.

  2. Stormblood's MSQ was pretty weak, but everything else, especially job design, was better than ever before or since. And SB has the best post MSQ of any expac. EW is B tier at best. The story hit all the right emotional beats but there were terrible pacing issues, Hermes, Meteion, and Dynamis were obvious asspulls and not particularly compelling, and combat in EW is an absolute snoozefest. Nothing more fun than pressing 1-2-3 for a minute and a half then facerolling your keyboard.

  3. Endwalkers weakness is when it tried doing Shadowbringers again but I loved the rest. I really feel like every expansion has extreme highs and lows. Lmao 😂😂😂 Preach did you forget how you were losing your mind and flipping desk all throughout Shadowbringers.

  4. IMO, Stormblood Trials and Dungeon, is the best compare to the other Expansion

4 Lords, MSQ Trials blew my mind of how fun and enjoyable it is to watch with every transition to 2nd phase.
The Dungeons also very refreshing and have beautiful Environment, most of Dungeon have 3 parts different looking environment

  5. I think the problem with Endwalker is with advertising and interviews they built up Endwalker so much that it could never live up to the amount of Hype it had. I would say it is A tier. It was not a bad expansion at all.

  6. ARR as it used to be had the entire second half with you re-fighting the primals on hard, and I think Preach even played a trimmed version past that. It's good they put the expansion so low. It was just some obvious padding.

Lol, imagine Donald Trump trying to play the game. Good thing an AI (?) is talking instead

  7. Stormblood weakest expansion? Y'all are smoking, it had by far the best content, endgame and class design, who cares about story lmao (even that was really good in the patches though)

  8. I personally really liked the storytelling in Stormblood. I feel like a solid B tier for Stormblood would be on my list. Everything else i agree with Preach on.
I was about a minute into the video when i typed this fyi.

  9. As a whole, the non-story moments of the game have been mid since the end of Stormblood. SB was the best expansion when taken as a whole and the gameplay and content have taken a complete nosedive since.

  10. Imo, ARR was fine and got better as it went.
HW had okay class design, a fantastic story, and the worst endgame in FFXIV history, with only the final tier of savage being good.
SB was a good story and a mediocre story combined, but the classes were fun jank messes with lots of individuality, and the best savage to date. My favorite period to play.
ShB had the best story easy, but… ngl i hated the job changes to tanks and especially healers. Also the hidden heal potency nerf (by adding vit on accessories you had around 35% more health but heals stayed the same potency, meaning instead of healing 60% you healed around 35%). The savage was… Fine? Better than HW's first 2 tiers.
EW has a great story, better gameplay than ShB, and the healing is in a dumb place where you dont need healers in most content. The savage is garbage, and… yeah EW is a super mixed bag to me. It made me not want to heal despite enjoying healing in every other mmo. So… Good job? Also made me not wanna raid.

  11. F**K! Man! Shadowbringers and Endwalker was so good, holy sh*t! And I love Emet so much. I am glad to have played this game in English, because honestly, as a guy, I would be gay for Emet's voice. He's so f*cking cool.

  12. To me, FFXIV is both overrated and underrated at some points. ARR isn't nearly that bad. I enjoyed playing through it. On the other hand, I don't think Heavensward/Shadowbringers were THAT great. They were good, sure, but best storytelling in the RPG genre? I don't think I would even put it in the top 10 of Final Fantasy games.

  13. I genuinely feel like I'm on crazy pills sometimes for liking Stormblood and thinking that Zenos is one of the best antagonists in the game.

  14. Honestly if it wasn't for RR (end game) I wouldn't been playing FFXIV 9 years ago. I actually when I started it, the story at first seemed super dull and uninterested, and I even began to skip until someone told me not to, and to pay attention. I even started anew toon just to see everything from the beginning and holy shit, it made a whole lot difference. I am not saying RR is that good, but end-game RR is mindblowing (if you fancy this kind of story).

Ppl do the mistake listen to others by saying "nah mate, it's bad", and then ppl skip like there's no tomorrow. They barely pay attention, even end-game RR which is huge mistake. It has it's moments, and again, if anyone plan to play this game just because of "gameplay", you will disappointed. The selling point of this game is THE STORY (along with so many other things), but the main point is the story. Don't skip it, even it seems at times uninterested – RR that is.

  15. People have a bad habit of only ranking the story and not the actual content. Because the content itself has only gotten better with each expansion. Some people might not like the content we're getting with the most recent patch because they don't want to do another tower or think the relic weapon step is too easy, but everything before this patch in the expansion has been amazing. If you think about each expansion in terms of actual content it would literally go step by step each one getting better and better.

  16. Totally agree on Whoshifant, literally a useless side character died and they milked his death for 10 years now, he was irrelevant to the plot why does this community like him so much i don't understand.

  17. They should have left Emet in Shadowbringers. Bringing him back just makes it seem like SE also forgot what genocidal fascist psychopath Hades is like the community does. But, if that's the price we pay for Hythlodeus I guess there's no choice then.

  18. My gripe with these sort of discussions about the expansions is that they put a LOT of emphasis on the story, and while the story is great, it doesn't make or break an expansion. Whenever you hear discussions about Stormblood they always talk about the story and how that alone makes it the worse expansion, but completely disregard the fact that it had the BEST and highest QUALITY content of any expansion so far. Everyone i know loves the Ivalice raids, the omega raids are the peak of raiding so far (esp alphascape) and Eureka is still THE BEST explorable zone content that people STILL frequent because of the rewards, sellable items and the raid. Lastly, it was the BEST expansion for class design, it perfected what they were going for in ARR and yes, balance might've been a tad worse than expected it wasn't so bad you couldn't clear a raid tier, hell i played samurai when it was considered complete grief to play it in savage because it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

I do imagine that a majority of players playing right now came into the game during the 6.3 – WoW exodus and only know ARR – SB content as MSQ only because a lot of the discussion when ranking expacs is ALWAYS story. I started playing very late HW going into SB so i didn't have much time to enjoy the at level HW content but i will always take that into consideration when i personally rank the expansions, a lot of others just look at story. I'm also a long time WoW player and i like the equate the expansions between the two and what the provided, and i think Shadowbringers is the Legion of ffxiv, for good and bad reasons. Shadowbringers had decent content, probably just below Stormblood in that respect but it also has set the foundation of what the game moving towards, and if you know Legion you probably know where im going with this. Legion was the building block for both BFA and Shadowlands, and i feel that Shadowbringers is the building block for at least EW for now. There are a lot of problems with Endwalker, while the story is still being told phenomaly, a lot of the MMO aspects of the game are being phased out. No explorable zone, very short lived content (variant dungeons and spreadsheet sim, i mean island sanctuary) that are very one and done.

I'm quite doomer about the game atm and this patch just made it worst tbh, was very excited to see what multiplayer content the new relic would make us do but for it to be literally the same step as the first…. euch.

  19. I liked the EW callback thing BUT they should have skipped the 4th wall part. I get their fear but I think it was actually not needed going into detail there – it took away from the urgency.
