Square Enix has changed the payment system for Final Fantasy 14 and many people (especially those from SEA) can no longer pay for their FFXIV subscription or buy anything in the store. Make sure everything works for you and let Square know if you have any difficulties paying for your sub.

  1. It doesn't matter if an SE building is located in any of the SEA countries. The PR here has always been so bad for over a decade because they just don't care

  2. I can't register my card (visa) anymore either. My only solution is to buy prepaid game time from gray markets. Thanks squenix.

    I'm tired. Subbing to this game has never been simple, quick or smooth. I'm considering quitting. Being "locked" for 60 days at a time isn't something I wanna do.

  3. This is also an insane problem also for people who move countries.

    For example if your account was registered to United States but you live in Canada you can no longer update address to be the proper address. Since it will ask for a US Zip Code instead of Canadian Postal Code and you won’t be able to put the Canadian province that you live in.

    If you could change country registration most of these issues wouldn’t be happening as well.

  4. This makes so much sense, I tried 30 times over the past few days to renew my sub and the site kept saying everything was good but the transaction was never made and my sub never activated. I don't mind not getting to play the game tbh it's kind of dead atm anyway but I will be furious if they demolish my house over this BS and it will probably make me quit the game for good.

  5. I have a Visa card, it didn’t go through, I even tried buying Crysta and still didn’t want to take my card. I had to buy crystal through Amazon to get a resub.

  6. Japan's banking and other financial systems are atrociously outdated and notoriously non-compliant with international standards.
    Japanese companies eat their customers alive with awful customer service and unbearable user experience, and you will still have such customers kneeling before their corporate overlords. It's a disgrace.
    I don't know if SE actively wants non-Japanese players off the Japanese accounts and DCs, but they've certainly made moves that will make their lives miserable.
    The Mog Station has some of the worst, most antiquated UI design, as expected from a Japanese website, and it definitely doesn't meet any modern standards for secure financial transactions.
    The system of claiming activation codes purchased through another 1st-party website is also absolutely insane.
    SE needs to stop living in the 90's/00's, and fix their crap.

  7. I've always had issues with payment for this game ever since my first time playing…they blocked my ability to pay for anything despite me never buying a damn thing. I bought a game that I couldn't resub for! It honestly ruined my enjoyment of the game, I remember being a sprout years back and being so excited that I wanted to extend my sub beyond the 1 month free because I could see myself playing this game for a long while. I've never seen support so incompetent- they don't read your messages, they just copy paste standardized shit.
    "Wait and try again later"

    I've had so much stress related to all the creative ways they try to find to make PAYING for their game worse. I live in a country where Crysta is blocked and I can't access gametime cards, my only payment option is my credit card. I honestly lost motivation to play or do anything because I feel like no matter what I do I'll eventually lose my account….My sub expires a week after DT. Thanks SE, I really feel hyped for DT that I preordered. I hope this backfires in their face. They only responded because someone posted on the JP forums and thankfully you and Arthars are talking about it.

    Thank you Xeno…I really wish they fix their payment, paying for a service shouldn't be stressful, we're in 2024…I've never seen a company constantly make PAYING harder on their customers.

    5 years later, and I'm honestly tired, I love the game alot, I want to pay for it, I have the ability but they keep 5heading ways to make it harder if not impossible to pay.

  8. I'm glad, I'm not affected by this. Living in EU. Just resubbed after a 10 month hiatus. My previous payment method's not available anymore (SEPA), so I bought Crysta via Paypal and resubbed without a problem. Even bought some sale items from the Kiosk with Crysta, but besides needing to log in like 10 times, I had no problem.

  9. Sad things is there is nothing SEA players can do, cause technically only SG and Brunei is on the support list,

    So most SEA players cant do, without bending or break the rules.

    They need to change address, and if the address and the card billing address is not the same or different country, boom pre-order csncel or denied

    We cant submit a ticket cause cause then exposed ourselves, that we broke the tos and we will get permenent ban,

    So sad that after 11 years Yoshi P didn't do anything for even acknowledge the SEA that play this game , in fact makes things harder for us,

    Feels like getting sundered for all these years.

    We dont wanna a SEA servers, just let us play legally.😢

  10. i had this issue too, but funnily enough i must have gotten lucky or had my email forwarded to someone on the top level because i got an actual damn human response instead of SE's usual bullshit automated ones. and they gave me instructions on how to fix the problem and even listed alternative solutions to use to resolve payment issues that aren't just copy and pasted robot speak.

  11. Stuck on "confirm you're not a robot" for two days. I'm lucky my sub is reoccurring- but I need to ensure I have money on that account for the foreseeable future- also can't increase my retainer limit anymore, just in time for dawntrail :/

  12. I'm shocked at the timing of this. If they started to roll this out 6 months ago when things were fairly dry, they'd have plenty of time to work it out. Doing it right before arguably the most important expansion they've ever done (as far as retaining players after the WoW exodus and then Endwalker being kind of flat) is actually just nuts.

  13. I live in SEA but I use US steam to play FFXIV, and can't use every payment method including STEAM PAYMENT, CREDIT/DEBIT CARD, PAYPAL and CRYSTA, because they will ask my ADDRESS, and my ADDRESS is a made up ADDRESS… I can't even focus in my class now thinking about this >.< what a joke!

  14. dear people who say "just use paypal" – let me just nuke your currency exchange rate between paypal vs directly entering the card and we'll see how green you get. Also Square Enix, we of the "nonexistent countries" would LOOOOOVEEE to update our address but ya see there's a catch – we literally can't. Thanks!

  16. There were posts on the lodestone for ages telling people to confirm their account details because these changes were coming and things like this may occur. I, like many others ignored it and my subscription failed to renew. I went into my account, updated/confirmed all my details and renewed my sub with VISA. Guess what, no issue. Yes the Squenix store is dumb and Mogstation can be dumb too, and they also should have sent the information out via email rather than Lodestone posts, but most of the issues people are having are self inflicted. Mine was.
