So I played FF XI back around 08/09 after XiV came out. Anyway FF XIV was so bad that you were actually given the ability to PLAY FOR FREE if you were an active FF XI player as part of the monthly fee for playing XI. So yeah it had a really bad launch.
I don’t think the next model is next year. It’s probably the earliest spring 2023 to be 6 years after the original model and around the time they normally release something. And that’s only if it’s like a new system and Zelda has to come to both of them.
If instead it’s another upgrade or a new system that make the older games better too, it can wait till fall 2023 when we are at least mostly out of the shortages and by then it’s two years since OLED so no one cares
A follow up to my other comment, not only was XIV completely free for active FF XI players back then BUT even then I don't think a lot of people took advantage of that because the game was so bad back then. Yeah you could play both FF XI and XIV for $10-$12 or you could pay for whatever XIV was alone. So yeah XIV has come a long way.
Ive been saying itll be more like a Switch 2, 5 years is way too long for a Pro model. Also they wouldnt be lying either if they say there wasnt a new Switch model because itll be a new hardware in general. Fall 2022 at the earliest. I just mainly hope they support 1440p as well and that they have a similr upgrade of older games style like MS has been. It. Should be easy to just unlock the dynamic resolution of their first party games to 1080p or more.
If MegaMan X Dive comes to Switch before Genshin Impact, I will be really sad 😭😭😭
Nintendo's previous handhelds did such an amazing job with backwards compatibility. The Switch was the first time since the Gameboy era that you couldn't play your previous games on the device. Hopefully the Switch 2 will go back to that model.
Wonder how well the OLED will do. If it sells well, I can see Nintendo continuing to model iterate the Switch like the iPhone. The next model might be the "Pro" but it would still be in the same generation. If the OLED doesn't sell well, Nintendo might just do a brand new console release with backwards compatibility. This will likely be the Switch 2 or successor and will see a full generational leap in technology. Either way, the next upgrade will likely come in 2 years to still give the older models room to sell, and total sales will probably reach around 115-120 million which is still very respectable.
Timestamps are now up in the description! Thanks for your patience, everyone!
PLEASE NOTE: The show audio drops out for about 40 seconds, starting at 14:23 and ending at 15:02. Normal audio resumes at 15:03. This was caused by an issue related to a new recording medium we were testing. We're very sorry for the inconvenience!
I haven't been able to get my hands on a Switch OLED yet, so it kinda blows my mind that so many people have been able to buy it. Where are they getting it??
Ash turned into MissingNo during this episode I see. lol
Generation 3 is one of the best.
I feel like it's weird to think you can grow out of Pokemon. It's for everyone….
The worst generation is generation 6.
I never got the big deal with the Battle Frontier.
Sun and Moon are better than Ultra. Ultra ruined Sun and Moon's story.
I only play Smash Bros because of friends. I wish there was a Subspace mode. I'd feel like my purchase was more justified.
I hope Psychonauts 2 makes it into the GOTY talks. That game is something truly special and it seems like not too many people have given it a shot.
How else would Fortnite make money without collabs? That's not the first time I've heard a complaint like that. Fortnite is free. The skins help them make money.
Sounds like the game just needs an offline mode.
prefer the new way of superchats, but i still feel these shows could be tighter – dont know if many people would like shows to be nearer the hour mark, just giving my opinion. also on the superchats, i feel like you dont have to read out the currency and amount every time
8 hours is a short time. I don't replay games. I have 0 reasons to play a platformer again. I'll keep saying that's not worth $60. It really depends on how much you like the game series.
Some people have dumb takes where they say Pokemon isn't worth $60 because it used to be $30 or $40…despite all games going up in price because the Switch is a console…I definitely disagree with them.
Glad to see someone in the chat agree on the price thing. It's not crazy at all to not want to pay $60 for an 8 hour game.
I'm not into the main Megaman series but I liked Star Force. I want to play the Battle Network collection if it ever comes out.
Time to churn out 5,800 burner accounts. (just kidding lol)
Even with all the speculation and rumors about the 4K Switch I still find it hard to believe that Nintendo would go 4K when it really isn't very popular as a household commodity… (Honestly speaking, only a handful of my friends who own a PS5 have a 4K TV or monitor) Of course, I could be totally wrong but…
Nintendo better have backwards compatibility in their next console. We should start a hashtag and keep it going for as long as it takes
