  1. I saw this in the chat talking about a FFXIV manga and while there’s no FFXIV manga specifically there is a Final Fantasy manga called Final Fantasy Lost Stranger. Which is basically an isekai in a FF universe where his main goal is to find a Phoenix down to revive his dead sister but in this world stuff like Phoenix down and reflect are basically fairy tales. So characters and monsters from different FFs will appear in new designs and the MC has to use his knowledge of the series to figure out what rules apply and which ones dont. It’s pretty entertaining as an FF fan tbh

  2. Another example of obvious cut content is when you used to gather the ingredients for Minfilia's mom's perfume… You just go talk to her now, and when you return to the Rising Stones, she still has her original dialogue where she explains to Minfilia how you helped her gather all the ingredients, a reference to something no longer in the game.

  3. I thought this was going to be a train wreck of an episode since Moose couldn't talk about anything past arr without spoiling the msq for Pyro and Moose doesn't play wow so any point Pyro wanted to make about wow would take an ungodly amount of exposition to set up or just fall flat. The fact that I was so wrong just goes to shows how skilled Frosty is at steering the ship and knowing when to get out of the way. Fucking legend.

  4. I came to a realisation, watching this but also just recently another WoW player: I have a quite good grasp of story and lore in WoW (or "had" rather since I quit…) because I had the time and investment to bother – because I didnt do anything regarding "endgame". I read all the books, noticed all the retcons, read all the quests (I'm still proud of my "loremaster" title…) and found all the bits and pieces opposing each other to the point that you wonder how that ever passed muster in development. The sad truth is: nobody really cares 🙁 Among all my friends over the years, I was one among maybe a handful of people who bothered with story and lore. And its so, so sad because this world, this universe… its just awesome! And nobody knows 🙁

  5. If you enjoy watching a streamer voice-acting the MSQ, I'd recommending checking out MidnaMoon's playthrough of Shadowbringers. She voice acts all of the female characters while a guy from her discord voice acts all the males, and they do a remarkable job of getting really close to most of the actual voice actors in timbre, tone, and texture. She should still have them in her twitch video list. I watched her playthrough of the entirety of the final zone in Shadowbringers (not saying it here in case of spoilers), and it was such a treat.

  6. I think a good time to have pyro again in mogtalk is after hes done with 3.4. Because hoo boy does heavensward-3.3 is not only a good discussion point but also the events of 3.4 with what it sets up going forward. 3.5 sould be brought along side the entirety of stormblood and up to 4.3 while 4.4 with shadowbringers to 5.5.

  7. Yeah, ARR gets a little too much hate, I think it's because a lot of us had the experience of trying to get friends to play that quit because ARR was too slow, but now with the squish, much easier leveling, especially if you have the preorder earrings, it's much better and new players should go in understanding ARR is intro to the world and setting the stage for the rest just like a mainline FF game, it always starts slow. Stormblood gets this a bit too because it's another set up heavy expansion that you won't fully appreciate until Shadowbringers where a lot of the set up pays off.

  8. Yeah as a new player I too have refused to watch the trailers for the expansions until I'm at that expansion. Case in point, I recently started in Heavensward and have just watched that trailer. Gotta avoid those spoilers!

  9. I must say i never thought i would see the day that people from two games i dedicated years of my life would be in same place, feels like i am obligated to make comeback to XIV when the winter comes. Stopped in 4.1 due various reasons and my plan was come to back sooner but many things happened and for some reason when you take long enough hiatus its actually hard to start again. Still followed scene on both games and these recent events have piqued my interest in MMO's again, also i kinda miss my FC mates and i am terrified to see how big mess our FC storage is as i was the one who kept it in order, same with airship building and gardening :O

  10. I really love what they said about ARR not being so bad. I started near the beginning of Heavensward's launch, and I recently made an alt to go back and see exactly how bad 2.0 was, and I honestly enjoyed it quite a bit. People still have the same sentiments about Stormblood being bad too, just because it isn't as good as [insert expansion here].

  11. I would love so much to see Pyro make some FFXIV lore content, we need so much more lore creators. The YouTube lore guys have been single handedly holding up WoW's disjointed jumbled story for so long and making it bearable, they add so much flavour to any game.

  13. before you had to level 1 to max in wow through all the expansions. it was still disjointed in terms of a cohesive narrative. You would do 10 levels of an expansion and have a warchief on the throne, then come back and suddenly theres a new warchief… no context, no real explanation, its just "Im the Warchief now" from the NPC. Then you come back after 10 more levels and its like another new warchief… same explanation, theyre just "Im the new warchief now". These days you dont even have to do 90% of the available content before jumping straight into new content. Its all redundant and pointless except for lore nerds and people who love to level alts which is an extreme minority in the community.

Dont even get me started on the new island "starter zone", its terribly paced and the final "dungeon" is just you watching a couple npcs roflstomp a bunch of ogres and a dragon. I ran through that a few times trying to snag transmog and I was so bored by the second run through. Though I could only imagine going through the island starting zone and then getting plopped down into the barrens, going WTF is this shit, since the production value for the old zones are just subpar by comparison. It spoils your expectations.

  14. WHAT HARRY POTTER DIED?!?!?!?!? I really didn't know that, so thanks for the spoiler. Not even joking here… Maybe a little because I could care less about Harold Potter

  15. I'm about at the same place in FF14 as Pyro is right now and I'm just barely getting into the whole story, but the Thancred twist was so obvious to me. When he disappears from the Waking Sands I remember thinking "ya, he's definitely gonna be a bad guy". I had a suspicion before that with how he always showed up around the primals, ascians, or most things to do with the crystals we were collecting, but that scene in the Waking Sands really give it away. I've got suspicions about another character too, but I'll have to wait and see

  16. Without any spoilers i will just say that Pyromancer is so empassioned because he is basically a Citizen of Ishgard, after he finds out the "truth" about things.
I have followed this guys work for years and he has been , while a smaller voice.. the Brain more or less behind alot of the release content about Lore and theory crafting, for most of the WoW content creators.
If they make a video about it, he has probably spoken about it at length before hand, just a brilliant guy.
To See him so Abused and besmearched by believing that Blizzard would do justice to characters and Lore he holds dear..
Its honestly beautiful to see the Writers and devlopers of FF taking Players like this seriously and Truly Dazzling them.

  18. Im a WoW refugee just about to lose my sprout (lulz) in FFXIV… ARR was fine. I don't get the disdain. HW was outstanding. SB was… odd… started strong, big lull then HUGE payoffs… so it was also pretty damned good. Stoked to start ShB today.

  19. As a long time wow player.. since vanilla to just recently quitting. What freaking story are you guys talking about? Wow has never had A story, just lots of little stories in small quest chains. FFXIV beats the socks off wow, one small cinematic has 100x more lore and story than the ending scene of 9.1 raid. I am never giving blizzard my money ever again.
