The Most Important Content in FFXIV | Bozja

I feel like the Bozjan content will guide the directions of future FFXIV content. This content is an absolute goldmine of data with constraints lifted in ways we have never seen before in FFXIV.

Through this video it should become clear Bozja content has INCREDIBLE potential as a hotbed for metrics to use in player and gameplay analysis and trend research that could easily inspire future final fantasy 14 content and likely the future of many jobs moving forward.

  1. Yeah I got thru the first part of Eureka story (anemos) and by god.
I see why some people might like it over bozja but its WAY grindier to level up and theres like…no dungeon or raid or nothing until Baldesion? Whereas Bozja gives you 3 bigass raids to (maybe depending on your group) enjoy with unique bosses and mechanics.
Also the relic in Eureka probably wont matter for most players bc we arent lv70 anymore so your inventory gets weighed down by items you cant even trade or sell on the mb.

  2. IMHO the whole "lets make all the classes the same" is by FAR the worst thing that has ever happened to ff14. It is fine to scale content to certain archetype but i hate that everyone can be everything yay!. That killed the whole ff14 drive for me and i left until bozra or w/e is done. I very much dislike being forced into something where my character as a whole is a scrub for some reason , where my gear means nothing (the gaunlet dungeon being in the expert roulette eg) and where now even my class means nothing.

  3. this content made me question why I was sheeping out and paying them 18$ a month to be doing 100-200 runs of old raid content to forcibly populate their dead daily roulettes for BiS endgame weapons. it's a waste of time and not a fun type of wasting time. meanwhile they canceled the ultimate, the deep dungeon, creating 15 different paid mogstation costumes/mounts instead, and finally creating rushed viera male over new hairstyles for the races they already had on their plate and never finished, probably just to sell more fantasia. The new relics final stages are also hideous for the time investment compared to ARR/HW's relics, they are not an indie company this isn't something that should be ignored.. Don't forget to keep paying your sub fee for the next 7 months before Endwalker comes out ;)). Ridiculous.

  4. I love bozja content, and it’s by far my favorite type of content in FFXIV. Initially I was turned off by the fact gear doesn’t matter, and I’d still prefer it did, but everything else it has to offer greatly makes up for it.

It’s the most true MMORPG feeling content the game has to offer IMO. The battlefield really feels alive, and you’re always interacting with loads of players on the fly.
WoW often does content like this in the form of a new map with all the activities of a patch is centered in, with its own systems and mechanics, but FFXIV has been working on perfecting that type of content with CEs and the Lost Action system.

Being able to try out so many different builds for fun, without being locked into anything is what really makes lost actions so fun. You can constantly swap between experimenting with niche builds, quirky yet viable meme builds, and absurdly OP builds, all on the fly, without being locked into any character build decisions where there is a clear meta to be followed.

The experimental nature of bozja content does lead to some unfortunate things too of course, like the duels being trivialized with Lost Meme Star cheese, but as experimental as bozja content feels, it’s certainly also enjoyable as heck.

  5. I don't really think you're getting the best sample of what people want to play vs what they do play with bozja for the same reason you didn't get it in eureka. I don't believe that red mage is actually people's favorite. It's easy and has the most accessible raise action.

I know the lead developer for the job design is a red mage main and it kind of shows. Jobs became more homogenized with shadowbringers and I don't exactly feel like I have any way of voicing my opinion on that aside from doing content and drip feeding input into big data. They don't actually have any ways of establishing causal relations when it comes to big data and there isn't exactly a system where you can state opinions for why you do or do not like something.

  6. If Bozja didn't exist, I currently wouldn't have a meaningful end game experience in ff. I don't like extremes or savage. Both are boring to me, whereas Bozja allows me to be creative in ways similar to potd and hoh. Especially in terms of soloing as a warrior, I feel rewarded for doing so in Bozja, whereas in savage I just go to the letter the static leader tells me to go to.

  7. Dude, I like you. But you need to stop underestimating yourself. You might have dropped your studies while your boyfriend has finished them. But you have the pasion to collect all the data you can, organize it, analyze it and explain it in a 35 minutes video that I'm sure it took scripting, rehearsal, editing and god knows what more. And then you have the confidence to speak clear, without stuttering like crazy and then post it to everyone in the internet that wants to watch it, that's no small feat, not for everyone at least.

A grade or a number in a paper doesn't represent how smart you're. It represents how much knowledge you can keep in a relatevely short period of time, cause people don't go into tests without preparation even though they have read and learned the things 4 or 5 moths ago cause they do not retain everything, they need to study and then remember and that's what that number in a test represents, how much info you can recollect and maintain for a short period of a week or 2.

Granted that understanding might be hard, understanding is what shows how smart you're and to take the time to understand things that has to be something fulfilling for you, your boyfriend found it fulfilling to understand what he studied you didn't find it fulfilling to understand what you studied, that's it, you're not less smart. You find fulfilling to understand statistics about human psycology and behaviour. Also mathematical statistics, that's something you might see as fun, translating data into scripts. And you're damn good at it so show pride in your videos cause no one else is doing them like you do!

Also you might be just another player, but I assure you, you play the game more than anyone else on your comments, so your opinion carries more experience and data, so it matters.

  8. If only Bozjan content was actually *fun*.

I mean, no actual progression in power until rank 25 unless you're lucky due to RNG, none of your upgrades actually matter unless you're rich or lucky in Castrum, and then can stomach Savage DR.

The actual CEs are not forgiving after the first zone and you'll actually lose progression or just floor tank your way to the top – no actual skill required. Just grindy and totally felt like a waste of time. Sure, you can skip to Zadnor once rank 10, but you're still a liability without having given up your life to the raid gods.

Also important metric is the null set: how many people are refusing to engage in the content beyond what is necessary for their relic. That would give you the confidence interval needed to determine how valid any of those inference your trying to make is.

  9. WHM just makes sense when you can profane or aetherweaver. So you can get consistent results without having to rely on others like SCH who has their output split between their own and Chain Strategem and AST obviously have to card which means you need to figure out who's doing the most damage and be screwed if no one else in the party used dps essence.

  10. Idk if theyll put this kind of flexibility from exploration content in normal content (dungeons, raids, alliances etc) since that still relies on player agency and ive been in DR runs where nobody is flexible with their actions when theres no healer or tank i.e. and thats not fun lol
but i would love it if they put this bozja style content into the normal over world map, we already have FATES so itd be cool if they triggered overworld critical engagements/solo duels to make the world more alive/engaging
And then they could add the essences and lost actions to vendors that take the gem/fate currencies. I feel like thatd make fate grinding a lot more fun when you can experiment/be flexible like in bozja and then you have the added content of a CE boss to look forward to

  11. No Ninjas?? … Heh, I'll never forget that one run where we didnt have any tanks and I poped that plate-pot and a taunt-essence – and off we go! Was real fun and we made it through in 40 minutes tops without me dying – I think all healers in all groups have kept an eye on me XD Rotation-wise it wasnt a problem, either, but then again for weapon grind I've been running Delubrum 2 up to 8 times a day! By the time I grinded the Ninja weapon I knew every boss and every mechanic in my sleep 🙂 Actually, I liked melees in Delubrum… not having to bother with cast times is refreshing.

  12. they have discords set up for each data center for eureka and they run BA and they set up runs for DR savage to. If you're on the crystal DC i can give a discord invite to who ever needs one

  13. I’m actually frustrated as I didn’t want to do any Bozja stuff so my relic weapon came from all the alternate ways. Now for the final form I have to do Bozja…ugh. I’m not even sure what to do. Just keep killing things until I rank up? I like quests so just going and grinding enemies is no fun to me lol.

  14. IMO Bozja was designed intentionally with making it more accessible in comparison to Eureka. I agree that YoshiP and the devs are watching player engagement to determine if their goal was successful, which from what I can tell it was. This leads me to believe that in Endwalker we're going to get another Eureka/Bozja relic-grind zone equivalent, and I'd hazard a guess that it's going to be more like Bozja than Eureka (ie accessible for casual and mid-core players), with a "savage" version of it's new raid aimed that's more like Eureka for the hardcore players ie (DR Savage), that way in theory everyone wins.

  15. Isnt the core difference between a natural tank and a dps trying to tank is that they're lost action tank abilities are GCDs while a natural tanks tank abilities are all off the GCD and so dont interfere with their core rotation?

  16. Personally I couldn't stand Eureka. Jumped into it fairly early on, got to rank 4 eventually. Because gaining exp at the time was limited based on who was in your group, I couldn't find people to party with who were within my level range easily. People had already moved on in my server at the times I played. I gave up at rank 4 and never came back. There are things I wanted in there that I'll never get unless they put them in future mog tome grinds. In Bozja, things have been much better for me. I won't say the grind was fun, but there were fun moments. Managed to get max rank, have my first fully upgraded relic weapon. If they reworked Eureka to be like Bozja, I would go back and do it.

  17. I love the data science approach you went into this. And I agree that this data will be used in someway to improve the game.

However, the issue with using this data to assess the player wants vs necessity becomes the problem.

Think about how many players enjoy this content vs did it just for the 1 relic.
    How many relics were complete?
How many wanted to do the content post completion.

Now onto the role removal: in the deepest sense of the player base = everyone is a dps.
The minute you do fight a monster or do a dungeon or doing savage content. You are a Damage Dealer.
Healers do damage, tanks do damage, you just have some extra skills that other DPS do not have to worry about.

Because the fight are not won by healing the boss to death or avoiding/soaking up the boss damage to death, it becomes how much damage can I do in a short period.
The logical conclusion for the player base would be get and maximize the damage to finish the content faster.
Moreso if this content is not fun.

My own opinion with bozja: the flexibility of roles being swap is fun.
Would I love seeing a ninja or a scholar be a tank? YES
Do I love trying out skills and combos? YES
Do I want to run this raid X amount time to get a quest done? FUCK NO
Do I want to spend gil to get the lost actions/essences or grind them in the maps? NO

personally, i'm worn out of bozja and still haven't finish the last 3 steps. I'll make the grind, but feel like the reward aesthetic isn't worth the effort atm.

  18. I love Bozja solid Leveling challenging rewarding only thing i don't like was DRS i can't get in and the difficulty from what i heard in Mr.Happy's video is to intense not saying i can't learn it i can eventually but considering i can't get in to fail and learn is my only negetive and it makes me super sad because i love the Judge gear from XII but im stuck with the 495 bozja gear :c.

  19. I feel like you're missing the reason why some people are taking HP merits over valour. It's so that you can white mage and still get away with running a stronger damage boosting essence than Divine in Savage without instant dying to the strongest raidwides. So for some people, max hp = damage.

  20. I disagree with some points of Eureka you make but you're talking to someone who is a walking encyclopaedia on Eureka and Bozja, and in some ways it was done better than Bozja in terms of a reward system. Baldesion Arsenal is definitely not a super exclusive club, but DRS is definitely a lot harder to find a group to get a clear sure. However you just have to look a bit – Each Datacentre has its own community or several, usually very active and on discord. Finding a static on the other hand yeah that's gonna be a no go in most cases. If you want to take part in BA or DRS don't look for a static, look for the community on your datacentre that holds runs. I'm on Chaos so I'm not fluent with the community on Aether that holds the BA runs on your datacentre but I definitely know there is one there.

Almost everything in DRS is an expansion of people learning certain ways people used actions in Eureka to make them mandatory mechanic, but the exclusivity of DRS and difficulty to set up a group to run it is a real problem. It took 2 weeks after we cleared it as EU first clear and started reclearing it casually every other day for any other group to clear it. DRS itself isn't super difficult, it's like 4 extreme bosses back to back with more emphasis on not dying and failing mechanics, but the Savage part of it truly is getting a group together to prog and run it.

I do agree release Pagos was… something though. It's a joke now though if you get geared up from BA. But as I mentioned, finding a BA group is not a case of finding a static now, but finding the community on your DC that runs them – You'd enjoy it. Baldesion Arsenal is really not as hard as the game with its "YOU WILL DIE THIS IS VERY HARD CONTENT" message makes it out to be and our community on Chaos has handheld some VERY VERY casual players through it to get their mount. If you want any more info on Eureka and Bozja/DRS hit me up though – From the vids I've watched you've uploaded you've got most of the basics down though.

  21. i did my initial clear of delubrum and delriada and im done with it; its too much for me, just like all these essences and lost actions are too much for me, but I love hearing you talk about it haha, you're very passionate

  22. Wait I'm just confused about the "I'm gonna try a new DPS but it isn't geared".

Do people not know that gear also syncs up? Which is why BLM's opt to have BLM gear from ARR where they could weild a shield for block chance.

The only superior gear in Bozja is the actual gear that has haste.

  23. I know people have this weird love of elemental xp/mettle because of old MMORPGs, but there's a reason why losing xp upon death was phased out of the genre – it's not fun and it can result in hours of work lost simply for having bad luck in some cases. I played FFXI and loved it but I have no desire to see the xp loss mechanic return.

  24. I do not like Bozja. I have grinded for my relics but it has a lot of frustrating problems. DPS essences are too scarce, doing both WHM and BLM relics, I literally only got 2 Skirmisher potions to use on BLM in DR, I got 3 elder using 20 clusters because the drop rate is not good so loads of lost flare I do not actually need, so a bunch of grinding just for essences so people wouldn't be pissed in DR. Castrum and DR are fun but the Bozja system on too of them ruins them for me because I am not gonna go waste time farming essences just so I can run DR and why are so many essences defensive if they were gonna make DR have that doom mechanic? It creates a kind of toxic area where players are mad because some love Bozja and farm crazy setups and get mad at those that do not because they either don't like Bozja or find farming essences tedious and just want to get through the 5 runs for their relics. And even visually, I get they were going for a more realistic warzone feel but that's not what we play FF for and Bozja and Zadnor are ugly and bland. The system has way too many annoyances that make me dread doing anything in it, I farmed everything I could outside of it.
