Marty Reacts to Jocat's Crap Guide for FFXIV DPS – I Knew NOTHING!

Medieval Marty Reactions to Jocat’s Crap Guide to DPS in FFXIV

On stream we watched the Jocats crap guide to dps in FFXIV and there were afew really important parts I had either never heard of, or totally didnt understand, so I wanted to share the video.

I’ve watched all of these crap guide videos and they are so good and the crap guide to DPS definitely didn’t disappoint! As someone coming from WoW, there are so many small parts to the game that you totally miss, so definitely check out the other FFXIV guides if you found this informative.

Joats video’s are always super fun and genuinely informative so I wanted to share the reaction video – as always please show JoCat some love and support, I’ll link the video below:

  1. The best part is that this isn't the last of JoCat's Crap Guide for FFXIV.
He's said he'll also have one each for Melee, Range, and Magic DPS.
It's just taking a long time because of that DPS queue life. 8P

  2. 6:20 — No. Usually, if the boss is out of range and has an AOE around him, you have to wait long – long enough to throw a sword or two at him, so its worth to break the combo. Also, during high movement mechanics when the boss zipps around the room, that range botton is a blessing (especially if you consider that Monk doesnt have a single range skill and has to sit those situations out – unless he can get in range fast enough to get an Enlightenment out… which has such a short range, it probably wont hit anyway).
7:25 — Me neither 😀 I dont get them, I read them ten times and still dont know what they do. Only thing thats helps is guides and, guess what, practice.
9:15 — You probably just missed it… Should you enter Delubrum Reginae, you get a 2 minute debuff when hit by avoidable dmg – and if you get hit a second time while that debuff is active, you die instantly, even if you are full health. Its an annoying mechanic – but also super useful since it keeps you on your toes 🙂

  3. There are some people that would mock you for not knowing about resurrection weakness. I am not one of those people, so instead I will say this:

Yay, learning! Gaining knowledge means you get better at the game! Woo education!!!

  4. Well that was certainly worthwhile, just for the Weakness realization :p
It doesn't actually quite last 2 minutes, rather, 100 seconds or so, but still, it's a pretty big damage loss, having -25% for even that long.
And if you die during it (and note, that timer doesn't tick while you're dead, so if you die with it you keep it til raise), then the next raise drops you to the Brink of Death with the -50%, same duration.
Fun side note, back in the day it used to also lower your Vitality, so you'd not just do less damage and healing, but also die again easier!

  5. "You have to stand there like a turnip." Lmao this phrasing made me laugh way more than it should, thanks I'm absolutely going to use this from now on hahaha. Cheers, very fun time rewatching this video again with your takes lol

  6. hearing someone smash the keys repeatedly when the GCD isn't ready drives me insane, especially when they have a mechanical keyboard….(I have misophonia so certain sounds trigger my fight/flight response).

  7. No need to smash keys in this game, if you press a key shortly before the skill comes off cooldown it automatically casts the skill the very moment it's ready

  8. bro i can't spam the GCD keys because i'm constantly busy weaving / double weaving. FFXIV is a godamn rythm game at this point and it's only getting spicier.
Next i need to learn triple weave and actually shmoving. time to rebind WASD i guess

  9. Yep. Being raised by anything but a healer LB3 puts a Weakness (and then Brink of Death) debuff on you that lowers your damage related stats as an extra punishment for being KO'd. It's why raises in hard content sound nice and free, but too many deaths and you just simply won't do enough damage. And why healer LB3 is so strong. At just 2 or more raised people, the amount of DPS saved from not getting Weakness on them makes it more valuable than a melee LB3.
