A Measured and Mature Response to Asmongold's take on FFXIV's Aesthetics.

I think we will have to agree to disagree.

  1. I think the thing that makes Assmongol unappealing is he just kinda looks like… that. Whoever was in charge of his irl avatar hated him at conception clearly 😂

  2. its about Color. Pallet and Saturation. A lot of FFXIV early game has a washed out look to it. The models may be better than classic wow models, but color matters more than shape in art, we know this because of the popularity of expressionism over realism art.

  3. I think Asmon has a point about the colors (which can be corrected with shaders). The fact that the dev team has not addressed how dark and dare I say green tinted everything is, is kind of bad. However, there is more to aesthetic that just colors, and FFXIV beats WoW in a lot more ways.

  4. I mean, each to their own. As many ppl here already said, the vanilla game is very grey/colourless. At least shaders make it way better. But I've also been told that it's "unplayable" without extra shaders bc it looks so washed out and either dark or without any contrast whatsoever.
Idk why one prefers the (imo) odd and very old timey comic style of characters and the armour that looks like body painting in wow over what we got in ff tho. I'm guessing it's a simple matter of preference. Also ppl love that wow vs FF thing for some reason lol.

  5. You can pick almost any reason to not like a game, thats fair. But let cut the shit, asmon is addicted to blizzard games. He will find any justification to stick to wow no matter what, as he has found reasons to keep playing d4. The problem is not that ff14 is unappealling to him, the problem is that nothing will ever be more appealling to him than wow
