  1. I find my problem is I only have 4 fingers. I can move my pinky over to the Tilde (mapped to =) to do something and my index over to #5 to do something but anything beyond that I'd have to click and I hate having to click anything. I'm only level 33 and my archer/bard already has way more than 6 abilities.

  2. I know many will disagree, but for my healing roles mouse over macros are my favorite. Before I always had to focus target the boss because I'm clicking on player names as my primary target. With mouse over healing I never have to untarget the boss and just click the hotkey while hovered over the group member I want to heal.

  3. Gonna add some clarity to why macros are considered poor in combat. You cannot queue macros since they are not standalone actions. It doesn't execute the macro code until there is available time to do so. The queue system allows you to queue abilities back to back automatically with zero delay. A macro'ed action cannot benefit from this and can only be activated after the previous cooldown is finished. Given your personal reaction delay and any latency you have, you will lose a fraction of a second for not being able to queue the action. Over the course of an entire boss fight in raid content, you may lose several seconds as a result of this delay… which will negatively impact your DPS overall.

OGCD actions can be comfortably macro'd but you cannot double-weave them due to this delay, generally speaking. An example of this is most dragoons using a focus-target or mouseover macro for Dragon Sight. Typical DRG openers allow an entire OGCD for activation of this macro, to ensure you don't clip your GCD. Because of the lack of queueing, you will notice even OGCD macros have to be mashed until the ability activates. This means when you weave one in, you wont be able to weave it until the second half of your GCD.

Finally, the inability to queue macro actions with combos can be circumvented to some extent. You can set up a macro that replaces its self with the normal action upon press, then starts a timer to copy an invisible hotbar after a short delay. The invisible hotbar has the original macro on it. During the time that the normal action is on the bar, you can queue it as normal before it gets replaced by the macro again. The macro can obviously contain whatever other commands you want it to contain. This could include changing another action on the hotbar to something else. It's extremely convoluted however, and you must double-tap the macro'ed action.

  4. I have a Swiftcast macro that also says how long the CD is on it. So if it is available it'll cast it and say "Swiftcast ready in 1:00", but if it isn't ready it'll say how much time is left. Can be handy when dealing with another healer, or to let downed party members know I haven't forgotten about them (or to hint for the Rez Mage).
I also have mouseover macros for when someone needs a single quick heal, or for Rescue. I know they are a "loss", but usually it is quicker for me to notice and click than to notice target and click.

  5. I feel like the developers should take a step back and say "The users feel like they need to use macros for these specific things (like salted earth). We should probably look into making that a better experience so they don't have to."

  6. Macro Question – I often forget to use "True North" on my Samurai and lose out on a lot of Kenki generation. I want to macro True North to Hakaze. I tried /ac Hakaze and then /ac True North but it didn't work

  7. I've got a single macro for my Samurai, it's for when I use Meikyo Shisui. All it does is activate the ability and then true north. Makes it so I can just focus on getting my stickers instead of fighting for positionals

It's at this point where I mention that I only do normal content and not EX or Savage

  8. I'm on console so a macro for a combo can expand my already limited space by default you have access to 16 easy to access skills and with setting modification you can get up to 53 active skill slots but they are hard to access easily

  9. I've been using that Salted Earth macro since Dark Knight came out. There is something really buggy about that ability, sometimes it works, sometimes it won't place, sometimes it cancels and goes on cooldown anyway. With the macro it just works.

Gotta say that FF macros are beyond horrible design. But I am wondering what's the solution of the healers? Do they just suck up the delay and live with it or do they keep clicking all the targets? Or does the end content in FF not require you to single target heal anyone else besides tanks anyway?

  11. So for instance if I as a healer want to use Asylum for instance then the command would be like this.
    /micon "Asylum"
    /ac "Asylum" <me>
If I'd want it to be placed where I stand then?
