  1. I guess it depends on what it means to fail. I think Crystalline Conflict is very much alive and successful. I enjoy it and still play it. I would like to see more small scale 5v5 style skirmish PVP modes. I don't like large scale PVP, because they're always just zergs.

  2. While there are certainly valid criticisms of the PVP aspect of Final Fantasy XIV, it is important to remember that the game was not originally designed as a combat MMO like other titles in the genre. Despite issues with stun locking and snapshots, the development team has demonstrated their commitment to improving PVP through recent updates and the announcement of a tournament cup. While the core gameplay may be somewhat sluggish, it is still enjoyable and there is potential for further improvement with the potential engine changes in the 7.0 update. Additionally, the lack of incentives and reliance on RNG in modes like Frontlines may be contributing to a lower PVP player base. Improving incentives and adding achievements with season-specific rewards, such as mounts, glamours, and titles, could potentially increase player engagement in PVP. Overall, while there is room for improvement, it is not accurate to say that PVP in Final Fantasy XIV has failed or is failing in the current expansion.

The Bonus Ending: I also miss Shield Swipe. The overall design of Endwalker, with its 2-minute buff window for burst damage, has hurt the class, and is one of many reasons we no longer have Shield Swipe. I would prefer to see Atonement removed and add Shield Swipe + Holy Shelltron Combo, as it would give us more sustained damage over time. or at least add it to PVP, Brother!

  3. Any time they add incentive to play, pvp is bumpin'. Unfortunately most content in the game dies when there's no reward for doing it. The next time there's an update to the wolves den rewards, or something worth getting on the season track, it'll be busy again until most people finish.

As for ranked — a large part of the avoidance also comes from old (and current) botters and win trading making the comp scene seem really pointless. There's a reason we still don't have ranked group cc. No idea how they would fix it.
