I definitely do desynthing every day as part of my daily routine in-game to try and make a little extra gil. Though what I end up doing is send my retainers out on an 18-hour venture so that they return just before the daily reset the following day. Then I get their stuff (desynth any fish to get Culinarian Desynth up) and put the materials up, then while I'm doing my daily roulettes I send them out on the one-hour ventures until I've finished the roulette. Then, with every piece of equipment I get from chests in the dungeons/raids and from my retainers, I desynth them for their materials. Then, any materials that I'd need for crafting things I want, I store away in my retainers as well as any demimateria to sell in bulk later (or maybe give to the Enclave for some extra cash if my excess worthless materials and materia don't take the full 40k in one dump), and then sell whatever materials I have left over from the desynths that aren't used for anything I want to make.
And of course, any of the crafted gear they happen to find, like the Classical or Neo-Ishgardian gear pieces, housing items, crafted glam gear, and dyes I just throw onto the MB for more than the materials I've desynthed tend to be. But if some of the rarer materials for certain housing items tend to be worth more than the crafted item itself, I might see about desynthing some of the housing items my retainers find. I'll just have to try and remember that and look up the housing items my retainers find and see how much their mats are then hope I get the more expensive ones.
I think the first time I saw this mentioned was way back for a banquet table in Shadowbringers. if I'm ever stuck on another world (Dynamis home world here) I do this to fill the time 🙂 Thanks for the tips about the omni crafter trick! I've probably fallen for it a few times >.<
