How to Catch Lopoceras Elegans in FFXIV (The "Pasta Fish")

This is a short guide on catching Lopoceras Elegans, the Legendary Fish added in Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.55. It also looks like a pasta noodle!

Location: Mare Lamentorum
Fishing Hole: The Chlorophospond
Bait: Chimera Worm
Conditions: 08:00 – 10:00 during Fair Skies after Moondust
Folklore Tome: Sea of Stars
Minimum Gathering: 3,300

📋Prep
Arrive early (06:30-07:00 is more than early enough) to the Chlorophospond and cast out with Chimera Worm. Catch a Feverfish, use Surface Slap and Chum, then wait for the 08:00 window to open. Please make sure you have a cast macro!

While one may think that Calcia would bite more often on Chimera – you would be right. However, Lopoceras Elegans is a very quick bite, just like Feverfish. We’ll slap the Feverfish so that it becomes the quickest bite we’ll get and makes it easier to cancel and recast (which we’ll get to next).

🎣Catching Lopoceras Elegans
Cast back out at 08:01. While under the effects of Chum, if you do NOT get a bite by ~8s after casting, use Hook to reel in, use Chum again, then cast back out. Under Chum, Lopoceras Elegans will bite no later than ~8s (Note. Observations say it may have a max chummed bite at 7s, but for safety we’re using 8s). Reeling in early and recasting, along with ignoring any ! and !! bites (that is, don’t reel them in) saves us time in the short ~6 minute window.

If you are unable to chum, then reel in around 15-16s if you do not get a !!! bite. Do NOT wait for your GP to regen.

Repeat casting and chumming until you get a !!! bite (before ~8s) then use Hook. This will have you attempt to Hook Lopoceras Elegans – which will likely slip.
