How I Taught my Non-Gamer Waifu FFXIV Dungeons!

As I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIV for years now, and games in general for decades, its easy to take for granted the muscle memory and the reflexes needed to play mmos. I explore the truth about what it takes to game with a non-gamer and get her to a place where shes able to get through this alive.

Any tips you can think of?

  1. I have the Grinding Gear podcast on when I run dungeons. Hearing two dads go through the story of FFXIV is entertaining and endearing on so many levels. Also, in higher levels Warrior can serve as tank and healer for a small party. That could help your private dungeon runs go smoother. Assuming dont need Rescue anymore that is XD

  2. Weird question but growing up, parents were always super concerned over strangers talking to kids online. How do you feel about your boys talking to strangers in Eorzea? Do you have rules set in place? Im really curious coming from an anti-online friend household growing up aha!

  3. 0:20 — That was just waaaaay funnier than it had any right to be XD XD XD

2:54 — Unless its story relevant or cool music in a dungeon, I almost always have some youtube video on my second screen 😀

How to make friends in Eorzea? Well, since you already have your own FC, a Cross-world Linkshell should work. I would pick one thats casual, maybe a bit RP (yes, seriously, they are some the of nices people around who make it their job to make you feel comfortable), and people with a job and maybe families themselves. You're both adults and I think it would be beneficial to have people to play with who know what "I have to get up early for work" or "gotta check on the boys" means 😉

  4. I'm teaching my wife to flay ffxiv. Language barrier is a main problem but the second problem is she kept dying and it's so funny like you described in this video. This made my day knowing I'm not alone lololol
