  1. For the Shiva scene….

As a bit of background, Ysayle died there in that cutscene because she used her Crystal of Light to do the summoning along with her own ether. This is different then when you fight her or her battle with Ravana. In those cases she used near by crystals for the ether to shroud herself in Shiva, so, when Shiva was defeated, that extra ether dispersed and Ysayle lived.

But in this case, she used her own ether, along with her crystal of light to do the summoning. So, when Shiva died, Ysayle's own ether was being dispersed, killing her. The now drained Crystal of Light shattered and that's what Y'shtola was seeing.

  2. Yeah, the Singularity Reactor is pretty much the last "way too easy" trial out there (it has no ilvl sync, but even on launch Thordan was a faceroll). From here on out, let's just say trials won't be a faceroll…

  3. It's quite possible that despite being called "brothers and sisters" that the dragons of the first brood aren't all related to one another. As Tiamat mentioned, Midgardsomr came here from another star with the seven eggs of the first brood. They didn't necessarily say that all these eggs were his.

But honestly, even if they were, they're the only dragons on the star, so they aren't exactly spoiled for choice for producing more of their species.

  4. When you fully complete the Heavensward story (I believe right after the quest, "Litany of Peace") there will by a side quest line started inside Fortemps Manor called, "The Paths We Walk". Make sure you do that quest line! It's three separate quests in total and is very, very long but so good if you stick it out to the end. It might not make an exciting video, so if you don't want to put it on YouTube, it's cool, but it is 100% worth doing in my opinion. And you get the best emote at the end. Again, in my opinion. lol

  5. On the 2nd boss in Aetherochemical, folks these days don't realize you can have a second teammate stand on the one teammate that gets targeted by the treetrunk form and it'll turn the huge damage into a slight inconvenience instead. We learned that back on launch when our gear was horrible and those hits normally would have wrecked us. ๐Ÿ™‚ And now everyone that reads this knows how to mitigate the damage, so save your healers a heart attack!

  6. Did they add some of the newer voice actors to the old dialogue? That's really cool they went back and did that if so. If not and I missed then I'm still blown away lol. Great reaction! Looking forward to the patch content

  7. A small detail, but that one attack Zephrin uses in the trial, "Sacred Cross", is canonically the same attack he used on Haurchefant. Also Zephirin is the first one to be focused on when all the knights fell at the end… the devs knew who would be the main target for many players.
Also I love how at the end Alphi is like "So this good thing happened", and Y'shtola continues with "and this other good thing happened" and Midgar is like "Not so fast, bucko!"

  8. Congrats on beating Heavensward 3.0! Here, you will find the Patch MSQ to be much more well-paced than it was in ARR. But the side content is no slouch either! And if you should need some more Lv60 Poetics gear for another job, there will now be another vendor you can get it from right by the Ishgard Aetheryte.

    1. That big giant machine fortress that you saw will be your very first Normal Raid series, and it gets its own daily roulette in the Normal Raid Roulette. The Binding Coils are considered to be Savage-level content and that is why there is no roulette for them.

    2. An Alliance Raid series unlike anything you've seen before! It is still my favorite of all of the Alliance Raids in the entire game, and I even made myself a glamour outfit based on the Sky Pirates.

    3. You will also get to experience your first Trial series. These trials are not part of the MSQ, but you do have to make some progress in the Patch MSQ before you can do these. The same NPC that allows you to do the trial series will also unlock the ability to take on Ravana EX and Bismarck EX.

    4. Gilly! There's a quest that will bring Gilly back if you wanted to. Do it for Onion Head!

    5. Hildibrand is back if you need a break from the seriousness, and so is a certain NPC! You can only do this if you did ARR Hildibrand.

    6. Lastly, you can have a rematch against a MUCH tougher version of King Thordan! You can unlock this challenge from the same NPC in Mor Dhona that lets you fight Ultima Weapon EX and I think you have to do that fight first if you want to take on Thordan EX but I could be wrong. He is a far cry from what you faced in the MSQ, so be careful if you decide to face him synced.

There are plenty more side dungeons and other things you can get into, but some of these will require you to complete some of the ARR side dungeons. Welcome to the Heavensward Postgame!

  9. about the dragon

Dragons in this setting don't possess gender in the same way other being do. They can reproduce alone, which would be parthenogenesis, or with another dragon, both methods can produce healthy offsprings. The gender of dragons are entirely what they identify as, and whoever they choose as mate is base entirely on spiritual love.

  10. 2.0 was very much a service product in the sense that it was focused on wrapping up lose ends of 1.0 and saving the name of the game. Not really on telling a story they wanted to tell. 3.0 was the first time that the devs/writers had the creative freedom and bandwidth to craft an experience from the heart. And it really shows in these last few moments of the expansion.

As someone else already said, Thordan is such a great fight design wise but sadly has always been such a faceroll. Lore-wise, the WoL reportedly curbstomped Thordan and his Knights singlehandedly. Thanks in part to getting our Hydaelyn battery pack reinstalled. But fun-wise, a little more resistance from the boss wouldn't hurt imo. A lot of people are hoping it gets scaled up a bit with the new patch in two weeks but it's not looking very likely. I also agree that this is the last major fight that players can turn their brain off and coast through. If Titan was where the game said "okay, now you can actually die if you do something wrong", the next trial is the the first of several notorious noobkillers to come.

I mentioned before that HW was the expansion that made me fall in love with the game. The moment actually happens in the next few patches though this ending definitely primed me to really, really like the game. And as we MSQ-watching addicts are fond of saying, "it just keeps getting better".

  11. theres 2 side quests you should do. Tales of the Dragonsong War and Scholasticate questline. you need to complete hildebrand in arr to unlock second one and do Keeping the Ledger

    side quest at lvl 56.

  12. HW maps were some of the worst designed. they often only have 1 aetheryte, sometimes none, and you have to fly forever to reach the otherside of the map. SB maps were better designed. sea of clouds was designed to be highly vertical but they didn't add a z axis on the minimap markers until years later so people always got confused whether a marker was above them or below.

  13. I am not gonna lie, when I first saw that mechanical thing going from the water, I was like "No, it cannot be! Is it? This is it, right? Damn it, IT IS! It's Alexander! Final Fantasy fans, especially those that played 6, 7, 8, 9 and 13 know about Alexander very well – it's a Lawful Good god of Judgement, often depicted as giant walking fortress. And yes, it is, by all definitions, Lawful Good, at least in those titles.

  14. 35:20 — Fooooreshadong XD

1:06:18 — Yes ๐Ÿ™‚ You go into those rifts, get bind and get immune to the big bad attack. If you get hit by it its not death but you get multiple debuffs, which is super annoying, and only 20% or so health. And if all players get debuffs, it might be wipe. But usually, most players know this fight already, so even if one or two dont do it, its still salvageble.

Not much to tell here… Yes, patches usually wrap up the expansion and then pave the way for the next. At least you can look foreward to them being much more condensed than the onces after ARR ๐Ÿ™‚ Other than that, you have the pleasure to go up against the new raid, Alexander aka super-cool ropot-primal (fun and full of lore, but not as impacting as Coils), and the Warring Triad aka current prisoners of the Allagans that Tiamat warned us about (very fun fights). Sooo…enjoy – and happy new year ๐Ÿ˜€

  15. The music definitely hits harder after you have finished each expansion. The songs can be more subtle, or slap from the get go, but I feel like people tend to then correlate all of their experiences in the expansion with the theme, and it ties your emotions felt throughout experiencing the story to the song.

Congrats on finishing HW! I hope your journeys ahead are full of fun and joy!

  16. yea the side raids [normal 8 man stuff] and the trial series for each expansion are 100% worth doing before moving on. the 24 man raids are less so imo
also congrats on hitting 1k before the end of the year p:

  17. Fun fact: When there are post-credits cutscenes, you can skip the credits and it will still play the post-credit cutscene. The only one you might consider watching all the way through is the Endwalker one, because something about the post-credits changes a bit.
