  1. Great guide. Loving dnc in pvp cc. Thanks for clarity on my role in a CC match. I was sort of thinking that I'm support role due to the insane amounts of "assists" that tally on my pvp battle tally list at the end but still was figuring out my role and place in a cc party.

  2. I’m enjoying DNC, only problem is it’s pitiful damage output. It’s all well and good harassing the backline, but all you’re doing is tickling them hoping to gain their attention and take them out of the fight, but still leaving it to a 4v4 even fight because you now need to run away from a 1v1 you can’t win. I’ve had so many players just straight up ignore me while they were focusing on the team fight because I was no threat to them

DNC’s buffs would be better if it affected the whole party to make up for the lack of personal damage, they should lean more into the support role it usually has in PvE

  3. This is pretty accurate. DNC main as well, currently DIAMOND 2.

Regarding mindset: I have found the most success when focusing on moving the crystal. Forget about getting kills. Select a Dance partner that will have high damage output and then focus on your survivability and moving the crystal.

    1. Always Starfall and Fandance before using Honing Ovation. This will reduce the damage that you will take while dancing and boost the damage of the the finish and give you a decent shield. If you are on the point and your shield gets knocked off, use Guard or Curing Waltz then guard. This will buy you some time for Starfall and Fandance to come back off cool down.

    2. For Dance Partners, I now pick strong backliners instead of melee DPS when available (assuming everyone knows what they are doing). Why do I do this? Because your melee DPS can kill people without your damage boost anyway. Most teams don't have DNC on them and they can slay just fine without you. But if you boost the damage+recast timers of a RDM, WHM, SMN, MCH (Also DRK AND GNB)? You will see if make it that much easier for your melee players to secure kills, or even your DNC partner themselves.

    3. Switch Dance Partners – sometimes. Keep an eye on who is performing well on your team and use Closed Positioning to assist them further. Closed Positioning has a 3 second cool down…and for good reason. You are encouraged to switch Partners if the situation makes sense. Your partner died? Switch to someone alive for now. You chasing a kill along with a buddy? Switch to them. There are situations where Closed Positioning can be used more beneficially.

    4. Just like the video said, you will get focused down every once in a while. Don't tilt because of that. Just think of yourself being at the Top of the enmity list. You are so much of a problem the enemy team has no choice but to put a "1" marker on your head. Just hope you can distract them enough to trade your life for one of theirs by your teammates.

  4. Dancer is not a PvP class.

    Low Damage Output
    Low Survivability (Other than Escaping)
Low CC (Only CC is their LB)

The problem is the only thing they do well, is 'be annoying'. Meaning they are 100% entirely countered by… ignoring them. 'Oh the Dancer is in our backline, what are they going to do?' Answer? Nothing, because again, no damage, no CC, they aren't going to do anything back there. Ignore them, and fight a 5v4 up front.

  5. I agree with much of the guide. Not all of it, but majority of it. I have a slightly different mindset.

Dancer can be a carry class. It's how often you're able to use Saber Dance and how much you can get out of it while benefitting from the effects of saber dance. Doesn't matter if you use the skill in a group or solo, because hitting isolated targets with the weapon skill has 50% extra damage behind it.

When it's all said and done though the main role for dancer is not a carry role, it's a support role. The biggest issue I have with the class is that it's position reliant as far as players are concerned. Because there's a second delay in your limit break you could be hard CCed right before the charm effect goes off. So much for extending your limit break. Your dance partner died? Congrats. Curling Walts effectiveness just got cut in half.

It's has a skill gap. However, it's underrated. Having 3 defenses, 4 dashes on a 10 second charge, and an ultimate that cannot be cleanse with purify? Now that's annoying.
