  1. As a main healer… You just learn to do it better. Honestly its those insane tanks that really get my heart pumping and i do secretly love the challenge. Eventually you get bored of dps and caution and hope for the big pulls to spice shit up.

  2. I remember when I first ran this dungeon. Every one of us was a sprout and we knew nothing about the dungeon. Honesty, despite the stress when I was levelling WHM, very fun learning the dungeon mechanics on the spot.

  3. Wall to Wall pulls give me horrible anxiety as a WHM, worse is that it's the "expected way" to do it. So instead of being about to just enjoy the game I just suffer from stress. Worse when the tank asks if it's too much, like I feel I've just failed.

  4. I'm only 2 mins in, and I'm really confused as to why you're spamming aspected helios. One Aspected Benefic to apply regen to supplement your benefic IIs there would have been more than enough and not totally eviscerated your MP. On top of that your Essential Dignity was just sitting there ready to use for the whole pull.

Learning to heal is learning to use your tools effectively.

  5. Okay so Jesse you get a free pass, AST is the hardest healer to learn IMO especially sense you have to level in ARR dungeons that actually can vary in healing difficult especially with big pulls. It’s very easy to lose line of sight with a tank making big pulls.

  6. This is why when I tank I am for 'medium-sized' pulls. Not too big (11+ mobs, not including tiny mobs meant for AoE), and not too small (a single pack), I aim for anywhere between 5 and 10 mobs per pull, so the DPS can enjoy their AoE rotations in full and the healer isn't drowning under the incoming damage of like four or five packs simultaneously.

  7. Yeah… people don't realize what it's like being healer in XIV lol. My best friend who mains DRK and I switched jobs for funsies once and I'll never forget him screaming at the top of his lungs "THIS IS THE WORST THING IVE EVER HAD TO DO" the trial in question? Ifrit on normal.

  8. Did you know…. That way…way… back in ARR 2.0 when leveling was actually really grindy and F.A.T.E.S gave very little Exp. getting past lvl44-50 was a real hurdle, especially when trying to level multiple jobs/classes. Spamming the first floor before the first boss was the fastest way to grind exp… At the time dropping out of a dungeon did not incur a penalty so pre-made parties would form, enter the dungeon, and do a wall-to-wall pull of the ENTIRE first floor and then just leave and requeue. The trick was that, staying within the blue light of the crystals gave a MASSIVE defensive buff… especially to the tank. The healer essentially spam holy/heals while the deeps (ideally black mages) aoe everything down… Once they buffed F.A.T.E.S the spamming of Dzemael quickly feel out of favour and the F.A.T.E. Trains were born.

  9. I healed from the beginning in 2.0, so I never got to experience tanks who did big pulls. Because the dungeons were still current content and people were a little more wary. I got to grow up in a very chill environment.

But just be lucky you didn't get Aurum Vale, Jessie.

  10. I've been playing pretty much exclusively scholar since I unlocked it at level 30 (just really clicked with me) and while I've definitely had my fair share of horror stories, there's something about healing that's just fun πŸ™‚ I love being able to support my teammates and there's something cool about running through the open world and saving someone you pass by before they get wiped by a mob, or when you time a group shield perfectly with a boss' major AOE attack.

BUT! I DEFINITELY remember the first time I ran a dungeon with a tank who did a big pull… We wiped… veeeery quickly… Thankfully the tank was kind and paced it a bit slower for the beginning of the raid slowly adding more and more pulls as we made our way through the dungeon. It helped me get the hang of it so I'm really thankful for what he did. πŸ™‚

  11. Healing is like a drug, nothing hits like that first stressful dungeon and you know you were the only one keeping them alive. Soon you're going to be asking your tank to pull more just to f e e l a l i v e again.
