Playing through FFXIV Heavensward for the first time! After overcoming Nidhogg and ending the Dragonsong War, we take on the Holy See in an attempt to reveal the lies it has been witholding from its people and bring them to justice, but there is evil still at work. Hope you enjoy!

Was waiting for this.
Rule of Thumb when doing solo duties. If it feels like things are taking too long or u are dying too often always take out enemies in this order Healers > Casters > Ranged > Melee > Tanks > Main Enemy. Granted it may change if any strong and bigger enemies appear but this is what I was tought years ago and it never fails. Hope this helps
so pumped been watching since you started ff! Definitely a defining moment in heavensward!
Of note: CDs should definitely be used on trash mods. For some classes, its the only way to do any real damage. Plus, they come off cooldown fast enough that those abilities are ready again when you need them.
Love your video intro
Haurchefant :'(
There are always one of three reactions with the Vault.
– immediate crying, disbelief and the threat of revenge
– immediate anger, disbelief and the threat of revenge
– the rare but still viable 'not cool, but he still gets to die'.
We see that Two here is 'Immediate anger, disbelief, and the threat of revenge'.
After all, up until this point, any 'death's we've seen have been retconned. But not this one.
H's death always gets me.
Ah, there is the part of Heavensward that made me cry like a baby twice in a row.
39:27 and here I am, crying all over again…
Fun fact: That part with Alphinaud trying to heal Haurchefant wasn't there until last patch. Before that, nobody even tried to heal him. Good change.
I never actually cried or got emotional when that certain event took place in my first run, but coming back to witness it again got me slightly teary eyed. I didn't realize the importance of his character until now, but I've always appreciated the character. I hope that makes sense haha
That scene with Alphi trying to heal the wound I believe was recently added when The Vault dungeon got duty support, so that was a nice change.
Horky noooooooo!
The moment with Edmont afterwards always makes me tear up. I imagine their relationship was probably pretty imperfect with Haurchefant being a bastard son, but he was still his son and that's an awful thing to go through.
Ah yes, the first real blow this game throws at you.
Rest assured, it will most certainly NOT be the last.
Nice editing btw, I like it. Real snappy.
I remmeber the thing with Haurchefant death is that.. I spoiled myself. I knew he was going to die… I just didn't know how or in what way. It hit me so hard I had to take a 30 min break because I was just sobbing from the shock. I thought I was prepared but truly I wasn't. Also. 'you bitch" yeah, I said the exact same thing xD
Also, the cutscene you saw is the new one. I have a feeling this was to answer to the 'I AM A HEALER LET ME HEAL HIM" people. Although we were unsure how they change it, when we saw it, we all came to the conclusion the devs it made it at least 5x more painful. You might want to look up what the previous one was.
And now you have experienced the moment that not only cemented FFXIV's writing crew as legends, but also permanently converted many WoW refugees. This one moment is responsible for making stone hearted people who previously thought themselves incapable of feeling anything outright cry.
Also, regarding the chain mechanic, you have to separate to break the chain or both targets continue to take damage.
The bit with Alphinaud trying to heal Haurchefant is actually a recent addition to this cutscene. It wasn't originally clear.
Remember my last comment? The story keeps climbing from here and soon you will be for a treat? This is the treat. I still ugly cry for Haurchefant’s death, and more for Count Edmont. Welcome to Heavensward. P.S. the voice actor for Count Edmont passed away and we did a virgil in front of House of Fortemp for days. I was there for 3 days.
I remember running the Vault for the first time and for me it feeling like a big step up compared to the msq dungeons we’d had so far, from the atmosphere and bosses, to the story significance etc.
It all worked together to create a really impactful climax to Heavensward’s second act imo and that was before they added duty support which made it better
Anyway, keep up the good work!
This is why I didn't comment in the previous video. I did not want to even accidentally spoil anything. While Haurchefant's death hit right where it hurts, I actually felt even worse when we had to go tell Count Edmont.
One interesting fact about this scene is that all headgear is forcibly removed from your character.
That's going to be it for the Duty Support System until Patch 6.3 lands next month. When that happens, the remainder of HW's MSQ dungeons will be able to use the DSS. I'd wager that 6.4 and 6.5 will cover all of the Stormblood MSQ dungeons. Then that will cover all of the MSQ dungeons for the entire game since Shadowbringers and Endwalker have it built in already.
Haurchefaanttt 😭😭😭😭 And Edmond 😭😭😭
A few weeks ago, I redid this portion of the story (long story short… housing it's addicting…). I thought to myself "I mean, is still sad to lose him but I should be fine seeing it again. It's been roughly a year." I was wrong, I cried again and if anything, it was much worse because I was doing that as a healer instead of a black mage.
