FFXIV DAWNTRAIL Trailer- Lore Breakdown

Getting my voice to sound normal was tricky but I think I nailed it! I hope everyone is as excited to go over the new material as much as I am! We’ve certainly much to discuss in the time between now and the launch date. However, I bet it’ll all be worth discussing. Cheers friends!

  1. I saw someone mention the book Yshtola was looking at had drawings of sculptures she saw in the First, mirroring the sculpture she's looking at in the Source. I wonder if this is actually true, then perhaps we end tying back into other shards by the end of the expansion.

  2. I wish I had gotten the chance to meet you in-person myself, but we had a ton of fun at FanFest! I didn't get to see your cosplay in-person either, but I went back and watched the cosplay walk on the stream vod, and your cosplay looked amazing!

  3. Loved that you cosplayed your character!! It was a delight to see you on the stream! I would have loved to go but money and a new baby prevented us. But so excited to hear your theories and break down of all the new stuff coming out!

  4. The Mamool Jaa also show up as mobs in the Crystal Tower, which means the Allagan Empire had a presence in the New World. The City of Gold could very well be another Allagan ruin, especially if you consider how metallic a lot of Allagan construction is.

  5. I'm personally excited for DawnTrail. However, what worries me is how the new msq is received. Feels like ever since Endwalker patches released, and the stakes are not as high anymore like previous expansions patch msq. People are now acting an odd way about it. We have down time and its chill. So now the story is suddenly boring, mediocre, and we're seeing a decline in quality? I dont get it.

The slow build up and world building in DawnTrail would be interesting and fun to me personally. I just hope people dont go into DawnTrail expecting a Shb & EW 6.0 like experience.
But after seeing so many odd takes on EW patch msq. Seems like some of the community wants the back to back Shb/EW like expansions with no build up. For 7.0 and onwards which would be terrible.

  6. I'm still a bit sad I was never able to see you there, it was one of the few things I wanted to do. But I'll aim for next time. Sorry to hear you got sick, we managed to get lucky.

  7. We shook hands at fanfest shortly after exiting the keynote, it was nice meeting you. Your mic accurately captures your voice too! Meeting a fellow lore lover was a fanfest highlight

  8. There's a decent amount of New World lore in the Blue Mage quests, as well. I'm excited to see anything come of that (though I temper my hopes after the complete lack of Dancer content in Thavnair…). Also, the Mamool Ja are originally from FFXI (they use the exact same models and most of the lore), so I'm excited to see what all is familiar and what is new!

(Also, I agree with you on the theory of WoL being RDM there instead of a new job, but I also hope we're wrong. Not because I want it to be a new job or anything, but because I like to level each expansion's job to at least the max level of that expansion, but I cannot stand playing RDM. I've tried several times, because I love the aesthetic and the idea of the job and would like to see its lore in this game, but I just cannot get into playing it. It just doesn't jive with me at all. Maybe if they completely redesign it like SMN in EW, but I don't see that happening.)

  9. I KNEW THAT WAS YOU ON STAGE! o/ Sadly, work obligations and being, as the kids call it, le poor, I could not attend in person, so rest assured that the source of your unfortunate illness was not me.

  10. It really seems we're getting Corsair, but I just.. can't be excited. And I would really like to, please, anyone can you sell me Corsair, like why you looking forward to this job?

  11. I remain bitterly disappointed that female Hrothgar wasn’t even mentioned during fanfest. Not even so much as as reassuring “we’re working on it.” Looks like I have another year and a half at least to wait.

That being said, I’m having fun with the start of Shadowbringers. I feel quite out of place and even a little lost in Norvandt. (Yes I know the spelling is wrong.) But I’ll adjust, I’m sure.

Glad you had fun at Fanfest!

  12. I am not at all surprised that Sharlyan is leading the expedition. Many events in Endwalker have shown them that they have been isolationist too long, and to their detriment. Sharlyan is likely about to enter a new age of more open engagement in the world, and who better to assist that than the one who showed them their error?
