FREE GAME! Asmongold Reacts to FFXIV So Popular It STOPS Selling

Asmongold reacts to Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker reaching insane amounts of players that their servers can’t keep up anymore. The legend Yoshi-P, Lead Dev of FFXIV apologizes for the game’s popularity and gives out even more FREE GAME TIME back than the MMO players spent waiting in log-in queues. Is this sudden surge of interest caused by Asmon starting to stream his Final Fantasy XIV journey, or is there a larger issue? Zack discusses towards the end of this video.

  1. Problem also with server congestion being fixed in New World vs FFXIV is that New World was, well, new, so people aren't attached to server yet. Transferring from a server just doesn't happen that much when you're established somewhere. You've got your free company there or your house, those things don't come with you, so you stay and wait out the congestion instead of a quick transfer to a lower pop server. And also (at least on the light data center in EU) somewhere like Odin might have a 6000person queue, the lowest pop server on that datacenter will still have like 2000, from what I've experienced.

  2. Game companies always try to come up with an excuse for queues.
There aren't any fucking excuses, they're just too fucking greedy to pay for more infrastructure so that they can scale properly, or else the only other excuse is that their engineers are dumb as fuck.

Getting into more technical terms, they can just autoscale their infrastructure depending on the usage… It's not that fucking difficult.

  3. I know nothing about New World, but it's so stupid hearing someone trying to say XIV isn't that special or big because (according to Asmon) New World has problems for a few days on a couple servers, while we're over here for 2 weeks with multi-hour queues on every world and having to deal with disconnects. Always on the defensive, even when only talking about XIV.

  4. Wish Blizzard had this much enthusiasm with WoW, like at least have some transparency so we know at least what the hell is going on.

Mean while Yoshi is here saying "Hey! Our game is fucked! But we're working to fix it!"

In terms of how a company should be towards it's community they really need to take not from Square Enix, actually giving a damn about your play base and consumer has huge payoff instead of being greedy, like their game is physically broken because so many people are trying to play it all at once.

  5. Imagine, a company that actually values its customers! 💁🏻‍♂️. THIS is why I absolutely hate WoW and loathe Ion and his lackies for their egomania and secrecy through all of this…..

Imagine if the community council consisted of f’ing rockstars like our boy here plus Preach, Tali, bellular, stoopz, etc etc.. Free “celebs” with their own audiences the spectacle alone would be huge hype in itself. Why is this such an unrealistic idea? I follow all these personalities and more and haven’t played in 6 mos. I don’t play anything anymore I’m just a fat ball of regret but this FF does seem appealing…

  6. I am just patiently waiting for the quoe to go down before jumping back on Final Fantasy XIV, I got plenty of other things to do, movies to watch, things to do outside the game, other games to play, I'm good to go.

  7. Yeah nobody was expecting their competition to shit their pants in spectacular fashion and this was before all the Acti-Blizz controversies even started which just made it worse when they did start.

That being said, Square is definitely not a perfect company by any means and it's kinda weird to see people fanboy them.
I'd rather throw my 'fanboyness'[?] behind Creative Business Unit III, the actual dev team behind the game. They're the ones dealing with all this stuff in the trenches.

  8. It's simple cost benefit or whatever analysis. Piss off free new players that only a fraction will go to a sub eventually or piss off paying players especially those that only have certain times to play and also are close to or already have paid for endwalker.

  9. One misconception people seem to be having on the wording, existing free trial players aren't being restricted; the post is stating that they're already unable to log in during peak hours due to lower queue priority. The only restriction is on new free trial accounts, which are no longer able to be created.

  10. World of Warcraft server issues: "LMFAO multi-dollar company"
New World server server issues: "OMEGALuL trillion-dollar company"
FF14 server issues: "Well clearly there is a semi-conductor shortage that is leading to these issues"

  11. I'm on my 7th straight year playing this game and I couldn't be more proud of it. I began a long time ago, a little after AAR ended. I am just so proud of the growth that I have seen in this game over the years, and of course the dev team has been one of the greatest things about this game. FFXIV has always been a masterpiece of a game, and continues to be. I am so proud to see so many new people wanting to get into the game! It truly does deserve all of the players and awards it has been getting. On a side note, I hope all the shortages end soon. Its been quite wild lately >->

  12. I think the issue is that people who can sign on early stay on till extremely late that when the rest of us who can only get on after 5pm all get back logged. I really appreciate what their doing with all this but sadly I don’t see me being able to get on to play after work until late January when more people finish the expansion.

  13. I have this thought that Asmon should try to feature Pewdiepie on his channel. The two of them have so much in common and it will be a great collab benefiting both guys.
