Honestly nice to see them have a go a properly teaching mechanics to new players. I would've liked to see this honestly be a mandatory requirement to enter Sastasha.
I did run the final set as both healer and DPS and the game does get you to cast Esuna if you are playing as a healer.
I too was disappointed with how there wasn't a super challenge combining all 3. I felt misled.
I'm shocked they didn't include breakable chains in the tethers tutorial. Especially with how you're supposed to group up and THEN split, which is something I see folks in roulette missing all the time. I guess there aren't too many of those in the leveling experience, but still…
I am going to assume the "challenge" comment was bait to get people to do it.
OMG, a ring !!! That plus the earring is almost. 80%exp buff plus food
Its not nearly comprehensive enough but its a good start and covers some of the more difficult normal mode mechanics that get iterated upon in EX level raids and above.
Clearly savage level mechanics like proteans are something the devs want you to learn by dying to them and I can respect that.
im shocked they didnt show breaking tethers between allies.
im in HW and theres only a couple fights so far where there has been proxy tethers and the intercepting tether. where as the breaking tethers are much more common (im talking all content in ARR and HW, not just MSQ).
hell even the blue aoe knockback i think ive only seen that in the sephirot fight so far?
EDIT: some of these mechanics also appear BEFORE level 49 in the MSQ lol
Secretly hoping there was going to be an endless mode that gets harder until you fail as the last challenge
Even though im still a little disappointed that they missed couple of Mechanics but still this should be Mandatory for every Sprout before entering Sastasha. I would even add more Modes with longer challenges that add new Mechanics of later expansions to make them Mandatory at every new Max Level before entering the new Expansion.
Legend has it those materia still have not been extracted to this day.
Honestly, these are all still really nice to have. It prepares new players for a decent amount of mechanics, though there is room for improvement and making this content mandatory throughout ARR & Heavensward
Devs – "We'll be updating Hall of the Novice to teach new players how to handle a variety of basic mechanics."
New Hall of the Novice – Teaches players how to handle a variety of basic mechanics.
XIV Players – "we'Ve bEen misLEd!"
I'm genuinely starting to think that XIV players are less critical than they are insane.
It amazes me that some FF players think that something called hall of the NOVICE should be prepping people for endgame. However, it should absolutely be mandatory.
Yea….In DF they will just stand there and ignore your Ley Lines…. "You move, im too busy mashing keys"
I think people need to realize that you don't need a tutorial to learn every mechanic of the game, you can learn mechanics naturally as you progress through content! Like you might not recognize a tank buster at first, but when the tank takes a bunch of damage you'll realize "oh that's a tank buster". I find it odd that hardcore players want the game to hold your hand through every aspect of the game when that's the most boring way to learn a game!
Im level 90 plus on all jobs, so. It's useless to me.
fun fact about the "stack" mark, they translated it , at least for german, and i know nobody has ever been calling the stack mark by the german name for it xD
i miss the big blow everybody up in the air WoD 5 headed dragon marker
I gotta say, this Hall of the Novice would've made me do so many less mistakes. I'd have had to do it a few times because I was profoundly shite at the game (and I'm still barely bearable), but it would've reduced my anxiety soooo much, like by at least a third, maybe half. And, if this was more pushed in the face of beginners, this would at least be enough, bare a few tiny details, to make players decent enough to go through the MSQ, which is the least we should ask for.
Tiny details that are missing, if I didn't look away while they talked about them, is looking at the cast bar, looking at the animations, etc. It took me three years to finally start paying attention to those and, while I still take a few vuln each fight, it drastically improved my gameplay and I can mostly handle myself without any healer's help as a melee.
society if ultimate suppression was in hall of the novice/intermediate:
Only have one question… why did this take so long to implement??? I feel like this shoulda been a thing since stormblood
The problem is always the same – panicking players will do everything to SAVE themselves not to die, even if it means to kill the Healers and Half of Alliance with their, by not standing in the tower while they have half of the health, or run into small safe area with a big aoe to damage 10 others x)
If you're a healer, they do make you esuna the others.
Nice reward. To bad I can’t use it… 😂 23:58
This absolutely should be mandatory and I would think that people dont mind doing this, especially as they hit lvl 100 on a job
For a novice the ring is ok I was hoping for another glam set of Armor as a player with few jobs under 60 as is
me too lazy to read so doing this same time as mr. happy since he'll read it to me
if you play a healer you actually DO need to esuna everyone there.
Its even boring watching it.
yoship 500 iq, entices us by saying "it's a challenge", makes us do it to do it.
Just as I leveled all my jobs to 60 too. Well…. except Blue Mage lol. Glad it'll be there for that at least.
To be fair, the prox attack in EX3 is also stackable in the normal version. (2nd time it comes around anyways. Haven't tested the first set)
i went to try this stuff out just cause and i learned that you cannot do the Tank specific trials as a GNB, i was flabbergasted
Im glad they added this to hall of the novice. Before this you only really had Bardams Mettle to teach you mechanics.
Okay, you had the exact same reaction as I did. I am not crazy. I got to the third one and it just .. ended? Where was the trouble he thought people might have? How could he ever possibly be interested in watching streamers do it? It was so, so easy.
Like, I get it is for a sub level 50 brand new character, but his wording surrounding it made it sound like there would be a challenge SOMEWHERE.
